For Anybody wondering if this works, yes it does. My mother has been dyeing our families clothes, towels, etc. With this method for years. 1 bottle of dye can dye way more than what it says on the label. It's best to dye your clothing on warm sunny days, so that after the clothes have been sitting in the dye mixture for a few hours they can bake in the sun for another few hours.
@@jmoney881 Nope, doesn't affect the design at all. There's another video on her where a girl dyed her sublime shirt black and the design was completely unaffected.
Hey there Isaiah 👋🏻 Just popping in to say thank you for the simple and straightforward tutorial. I went ahead and tested this out with my black jackets and black work pants on 06/14/2022 and can confirm your method worked! They’re pitch black and look brand new. To anyone who wants some additional tips on dyeing your clothes: - Make sure to wash the clothes first before you dye anything so the stains won’t appear visible after. - Recommend using thick dish washing gloves and stirring with hands to really get in there for the 30 minute method. - Skip washing the clothes after dyeing like he mentioned. Air dry it and wash with other black clothes when they get dirty again. The black will reabsorb back into clothes when rubbing around the washing machine. Prefer the shortest cycles possible with cold water to improve the odds of colors lasting longer. Use Woolite Darks detergent to improve color retention. Anyway thanks again and good luck to the rest of you. What he speaks is legit and it works 💯
Thank you so much!! You gave me all the answers I needed without taking an hour of my day! Your straight to the point, no frills, locals only approach is awesome and I appreciate you! 🙏🔥👍
This tutorial is better than the one on the official rit dye channel. I hate TH-cam tutorials that make you read instead of narrate them, if I wanted to read the instructions I would’ve looked on google.
Dying clothes feels like a revelation to me. Bought some nice used jeans the other day but the color wasn't to my liking and as I wasdriving past the craft store it hit me: I can change the color to exactly what I want :)
Issiah, I just watched 5 how-to vids and yours is the BEST. Thanks you for this. Today is the day. I'm going out in the back yard and DOING it. No more fearful procrastinating. OK. Maybe a little bit more procrastinating..... But thanks to you now I'm only procrastinating out of laziness - because of you there's no more fear.
What do you do with clothes with big logos like adidas hoodies with the trefoil logo I have some black clothes I want to dye them black cause they’re very faded but I don’t want to ruin the logo
I don’t know what’s in that color dye fixative but you could probably just dip your clothes after they died in a bucket with water and white vinegar. I do it with new clothes that are possibly going to bleed or bathing suits when I first get them and it helps keep the color.
Thank you so much for making a simple straight forward video! Everyone else was talking about something completely irrelevant to dye before the video even started!
Love your video, you explain really good, also, the fact that you forgot to add the dish liquid and added it after, really loved it bc I often forget to do things, so I feel good knowing I can add it later w no problem. ❤❤
I like this video, I still come back to it every time I need to dye something. If not be opposed to you making a new video, add some background music here and there. I appreciate your personality.
THANK YOU!!! This is exactly the tutorial I needed to help me dye my shower curtain AND all of my black clothing. I so appreciate you!!! You just saved me so much money!
Thanks for the tutorial! I am a reseller and dyeing stained clothes feels like the biggest life hack. SOOOOOO many people will throw away/donate the nicest things over the littlest stains!
Thx for the concise vid. Would like to see how they turned out when dry. I’m doing this now and letting them sit overnight. Debated if that is good or bad.
DO NOT take them out of the fixative and let them dry without washing them. that’s a really good way to get water marks and in even color. EVEN IF YOUVE AEEN OTHER PEOPLE DO IT WITH NO PROBLEM!!! seriously don’t risk it, all fabrics are different. you see in this video how easy it is. if they aren’t dark enough or the color fades just re dye them. better safe than sorry!! -a guy who’s fucked his clothes up before and now doesn’t

If your denim is synthetic the color won't hold with this method. What you need to do is get fjall raven Greenland wax (it's non shiny). Cover your jeans in wax and blow dry the wax in until it sets. It will also make your pants water proof and to a degree dust and dirt resistant. You're welcome. 🤓
So i have a black shirt needing to get back black. But on the back it has reflective letters do I have to cover the letters up or the dye wine damage it?

Thanks for the information... everything you describe for work clothes fits my description. Q: approximately How long does the die last in comparison using the dye lock and does material matter? some of my work pants have 8 to 12% polyester
This is super helpful. I bought three pairs of jeans and they’re really nice but I hate the color, and wanna dye them black. Again, this was super helpful, thank you!!!
Thanks for the tutorial💖💖 I've seen a couple videos and everyone chooses washing machines to dye cloths because it's "easier" but I saw a couple comments people say it ruined their washing machine😔🙈
I want to trust this one more than the manufacturer video, this has way more views. I may do some paper too, but probably put it in a seperate smaller thing. Thank you!
What if you are dying multiple jeans do you dump out the old dye bucket and start fresh or do you just add more dye? Also, what do you do with the liquid when you're done do use dump it in the ground or in a drain does it stain in your tub?
Dyeing black jeans seems pretty easy since you won’t see any flaws with color overall. I wanted to dye some cotton curtains and bright sunny yellow but I’ve heard that RIT color is not accurate when dyeing to lighter shades and there is talk of bleeding and washing out of color. Is this fixed by using the fixative or do I have to worry about color washing out and staining other clothes when put in washing machine. What’s the easiest and best fabric dye for cotton material (tie dye)? Thanks
Use the Hottest H2o, cup of salt, quirt of dishwashing detergent, PRIOR WET AND CLEAN Clothing. Mix the salt in good and use a wooden spoon not metal. I use a old back scrubber that is like a paddle after you take off the loofah. I think 60 minutes should be fine. Make sure all the clothing is under the water or mix regularly to insure that all parts of the clothing is covered by the dye. Oh and use gloves or you risk dying your hands and arms.

@@jmoney881 if it's DTG printing it might be affected, screen printed or vinyl designs are safe because they aren't porous
Can dying 5 shirts in the mixture for 45 minutes still be effective?

An old video but new to me. Really well explained - bought a RIT dye / fixative pack on Amazon as a result! Thanks for that, isaih!
