    Fr. Paul. My names John. I’ve been approaching holy Orthodoxy for the past two years. Struggling in the faith. I’ve become a catechumen at an antiochian Orthodox Church and I’ve just stumbled upon this video. It’s an incredible testimony. I’m very moved and even laughed out loud several times at the miracles.
    It’s been a very very difficult couple of years (well many years but things seemed to have crescendo’d upon first taking steps toward orthodoxy and attending liturgy). I’m happy to say things have been improving since beginning a small prayer life and becoming more serious in trying to become a member of the community of faith at my local parish.
    I have a long long way to go and am still deeply flawed and in sin, but videos like this and the help of my new friends in the faith have given me a lot of hope.
    I’m also nervously praying for some clue as to what to do with myself (just as you did when you were younger). Please pray for me if you can Fr. Paul and god bless you.

      John, God bless. Please indeed continue the path to salvation. In time under the direction of your spiritual father and God will bring you in properly to the Orthodox faith through baptism chrismation for the good of your soul salvation. Once we become Orthodox the world view changes. We see things with an orthodox perspective. Sometimes we change friends in the process; those that are productive and promote a dignified life in Christ and help you on the road to pleasing the Lord by words and actions. Even jobs change /career jobs. For example, if we were in a rock band before Orthodox and the words and the tone of the music is very influential by ways of demonic behavior, we make a big change to benefit those from what we do and what keeps us safe in the eyes of the Lord. As far as salvation. So yes a new journey will begin for you. So now you must pray for God's holy will each and every day and to trust that he will take care of you no matter how dim things may seem. And the bad influences around you now that you will put on Christ. Keep the focus on Jesus Christ again, do not lose trust in the Lord and watch God's Providence move you to what's pleasing unto him. This is a struggle, but through your prayer and fasting and faithful endurance of Christ, you will arrive by the will of God.

    That guitar player was George Black. My brother Grisha Dobrov was his guitar teacher and my brother built the cabins/monastery in Platina with Fr. Seraphim, and also did a lot of translations for him. George saw the icons in my brothers room during his guitar lessons and the rest is history. My Godmother Valentina Zavarin brought Eugene Dennis Rose to the Russian Circles and Church. I attended Jordanville and on my way. Slava Bogy. Great Video. I would love to visit Fr. Baba. I went to Foothill College also. Lots of great memories here.

      It's hard because Jesus never seems to offer any consolation. At least in my life, sounds like your experience may be similar. I've never felt the love and mercy that Christians always talk about. I've only ever felt ignored and rejected by Christ, despite doing my best for years to live as a Christian. But whether I'm trying to have a relationship with Christ or not, He just never seems to be there.

    • @whitemakesright2177
      @whitemakesright2177 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@1989221 Yes, I have. I've been involved in Orthodoxy for 5 years (baptized for 3.5 years), and I was very zealous until about a year ago. Nothing I read from the saints ended up being true or useful. Just a bunch of superstition.
      Jesus has never answered any of my prayers in any way. Not even "Lord have mercy." He's never done anything but ignore me. The simplest explanation is that He simply isn't there, that the whole religion is made up. I've never experienced anything that would make me think otherwise.

    • @Death2Compromise
      @Death2Compromise ปีที่แล้ว

      @@whitemakesright2177 I feel it too brother. In these times we must remember that Christ works on His time, not ours. We may wish for Christ to triumphantly grant our ever prayer, but then we are making Christ a genie in a bottle. I tell you that Christ is there and that we are all living through great trials, we are all separated by modern technology and it isn't right or natural, but this is our trial. To remain faithful even in the silence and isolation. The devil is doing this to try to destroy our orthodox faith by isolation, we must hold fast to the faith and not let the devil separate us from the church, no matter what. These are odd times we are living in and it will likely get harder, but God will give strength to those who persevere to the end. No matter what happens, no matter how depressed the demons make us feel, no matter how many arrows are shot at us, no matter how much despair and hopelessness, we must hold fast and remember that our God will come through and we must never quit no matter how hard things get, it is all lies from the demons.

    This was wonderful! Thankyou for this lovely reminisce of time spent with this Saint...For those wanting to understand today's world, Fr Seraphin's lecture series is required reading! Please find on the internet "The Orthodox Survival Course" It is not yet in print but will be published from the lectures some time this year I believe. It is a truly stunning walk through history and explains exactly how we have arrived where we are today. Thus far, my favourite quote is "...We must understand first of all, what is world history, what are the forces that shape world history...There is God and the Devil and world history goes on between these two forces, these two adversaries, and man's heart is the field on which it is played out."

      During this time of your young age it's important to stay spiritually nourished -stay busy in God. Visit monasteries, continue to pray and worship God in church services as much possible. Patience is important.. pray everyday for God's will and watch his Providence. St Paisios of Mt Athos, told my friend, " if you have interest in being a priest, go to seminary and decide there. Learn there and see where God takes you. Important to share your thoughts with your priest and let him guide you.

    Proceed with caution! Very inspirational I also get a lot out of the teachings of Father Seraphim Rose. But I was also warned about him by a nun associated with the Boston monastery. This none that warned me about him also had some pretty bizarre ideas about me and so as far as I'm concerned I very much enjoy learning from other seraphim Rose I asked the metropolitan and our church and he's had nothing bad to say about father serafim Rose. Excellent video keep up the good work at may God bless you and your family

      @@orthodox1717Sometimes that is exactly why they inspire controversy. Christ brings the sword of discernment through His Saints, dividing good from evil. The lack of compromise is convicting to worldly souls (like mine).

    It is seems to me that for every Christian it is very important, useful and even necessary to read the wonderful work by our beloved father Seraphim Rouse titled "Orthodox Survival Course". Apart from, I am sure that the biography of father Seraphim Rouse written by hieromonk Damascene is also worth reading, for this book shows us all the inward and outward details of forming of father Seraphim Rouse’s intellectual and spiritual activity.
    May God bless you.
