"Obviously a first overall pick is franchise altering."
*shows Nail Yakupov*
Johnny's a Flames fan, as an Oiler's fan it's a fair shot to take.
to be fair he did alter the franchise just not the way oilers fans wanted to see 😂
It was. Yakupov and oilers being so bad allowed them to draft Draisaitl and mcdavid
Don’t ever disrespect my boy Nail Yakupov again.
Bring back the old ducks colours!!!
Johnny you missed the biggest headline in Norway and for Norwegian hockey:
Brandsegg-Nygård being the first Norwegian ever drafted in the first round of the NHL draft by the Red Wings, and Stian Solberg being drafted 23rd OV by the Ducks.
This is super hype for the Norwegian hockey scene, as the old guns of Zuccarello, Thoresen, the Olimb brothers all age, a new era of Norwegian hockey is born.
Also there were no Swedes drafted in the first round this year.
Pretty wild draft for Scandinavian countries.
Point de bra
Why did hockey grow so well in Sweden and Finland but not in Norway? Why is Norway arriving so late to the party?
@@esperago mostly because there aren't many icerinks in Norway (even Stockholm alone has more than Norway) and those few we have are very run down Hockey was starting to get popular in the 90s and 2000s but died down but has recently gotten more popular as a Norwegian hockey game on average has over 2000 spectators (new record set this season) and that's not bad for a country with just 5 million people fun fact is that the Norwegian final (EHL) had more spectators than the Swedish one (SHL)
@@esperago Geography
Norway is really good at all other winter sports but is horrible at ice hockey.
The heartfelt story it's was the drafting of michael hage because he loss is father who was habs fan
Habs getting koivu's son just feels right
Feels meh to me, I don't care that its Koivu's son, and I loved Koivu when he played, he'll probably never play for the Habs.
Hope he doesn't have to endure a career of nonwinning like his daddy did.
@@yoholmes273 And his Uncle
@@adamCarter20He'll have a great career for the Rocket at least
Habs get the Demigod...very nice.
Learning about Hage after Montreal picked him at 21, was very heart warming and inspirational. I believe he will be a very important part of Habs future success...and I wish him great success.
That Sharks fan at the draft was so funny
Made the Celebrini draft actually interesting given how obvious he was as a 1st pick
single handedly holding up the franchise
San Jose fan here. Pretty happy with this draft. Good for Montreal and all the other teams that picked high - it's gonna be nice to see your guys's colors in the playoffs against us eventually.
i dont see how tij would ever live up to the hype if he went to calgary. i think it is for the best he went elsewhere.
not first round but the avs picking the khl rookie of the year and playoff mvp goalie when they got him seems like an absolute steal to me.
how did no one draft him before now? he has had solid numbers for years.
The ducks pick is eithering getting someone fired or a huge pay raise
"What are your thoughts?"
Me, an Oilers fan expecting to have to wait until pick #64: I dunno, I never thought we'd make it this far 🤷♀️
I think demidov was exactly what we need I’m so happy with this pick ThAnK YOU 🙏 hockey gods! And I think have was a great pick too
Thank Anaheim. why on earth wouldn't they trade down?
Interesting what Edmonton did. They obviously were very keen on that kid. So much so that they're confident a likely higher pick in the future won't be as good
We picked up the top ranked European goaltender and traded up to get Sam O’Reilley so interesting moves for sure
Knights fan here, enjoy Sam, he's an awesome awesome forward who is flashy and fearless, anytime he was on a rush we all relaxed, knowing he was going to dazzle us
@@coastaku1954 great to hear!
As a sens fan im incredibly happy with our pick. Size and upside while also filling a positonal need. After already having the 'small offensive defenceman' archtype not really working out with Brannstrom for example its great to get some size and grit on the backend who also has an offensive upside.
Bud, I'm so hyped for this up coming season.
If Staios can make some good Dman trades.
I feel beating the leafs, won't just be our only highlight going into playoff time.
@@dawsonholdsworth5371 Having a stud goalie now that can provide above 900 and just give consistency should help us scoop up the few extra points needed to make the playoffs. I don't even care if the sens go out in the first round, I'd love to just see this team competing in playoff hockey again.
Sharks and Habs clear winners, leaving the draft with Celibrini and Dickinson is insane. Flyers we're drunk
Flyers rebuilding is going nowhere and Detroit as well
@@thai2go
Detroit probably wishes they. We're back in the west :p
Colorados shotgun goalie strategy was interesting
Nobody's going to mention Aatos Koivu, #70 by Canadiens? His dad Saku was with Canadiens 14 season, and captained ten of them.
The Bruins got some Zdeno Chara revival vibes selecting that giant kid Dean Létourneau , also love what the Hurricanes pulled off with those later picks Badinka, Artamonov & Poirier that ain't bad at all
San Jose, Montreal, Calgary and Minnesota are the biggest winners
Celine Dion is the biggest steal of the draft
I'd have rather Tij gone to any other team tbh. I don't like the prospect of him being shoehorned into a "face of the franchise" position just to capitalize on his name recognition. Half the buzz around him was for the wrong reason (Jerome) and I have a bad feeling that was like 90% of the reason Utah selected him at 6th.
It’s Jarome.
Bro didn’t even mention Cole eiserman 💀
It’s up to u but u should do a vid on Micheal hage cause he got drafted by his favourite team growing up and dedicated last season to his dad who passed away in a swimming pool accident
Cole Eiserman selected 20th by the islanders. He is the all time scorer for the USA Development Team with 127 goals and he is committed to BU for the 24-25 season and he also is only 17 and turning 18 in August.
im so hyped
If you didn’t remember that Hertl got traded to Vegas. Couture and Vlasic are the two old guys still with the team
I love the stories that came from this draft, but i don''t see this really being an amazing draft as most people think
Wasnt too mad at the Yakemchuk pick considering his 2-way prowess and the fact that we desperately need RD.
Lmao, he’s worse at defense than zayne parekh tho
@@johnsolo74 Maybe Parekh was just better in that department but I'm seeing another Jake Sanderson here
The habs pick could be huge. He looks great, but how good is that league?
I knew he was going 3rd called it too
reviews 1 to 9 ?
What about eiserman?
Hawks almost traded up to 4, Columbus declined once lindstrom didn’t go to the ducks, if the ducks took Lindstrom, the hawks were gonna get levshunov and demidov 😮
Are you Francophone? I appreciate the Québécois pronunciation on Celine Dion
He's not but his french is top notch
He pretends to be
I noticed that too. He said her name perfectly to be fair !
Montreal fans are so weird. Every draft pick they get they always say “We got the best one!”
Buium the steal of the draft? Nah. He’s a great college player but I think he’s the least defensively sound out of the draft
Or the Oilers getting hate for their pick lol
Anyone else think cilion is lookin stiff?
Habs just got away with grand larceny
MBN for the Red Wings doesn't feel good
will probably never get any icetime in the NHL cause of Yzerman
@@andreasenberget1411the wings looking into trouba….
Don't let Demidov go back to Russia ... have him play in Jr or in Sweden... Don't let Putin draft him
are you dumb?
if espn says that arizona doesnt exist, doesnt that mean the nordiques never existed?
Did you clone your voice?
Agreed, its noticeable
@@Jay_Schwartz AI voices suck up the human soul from the videos
@@Jay_Schwartz Bro its not noticeable at all because its very clearly not AI lmfao....
Zayne Parekh is overrated. Full of injuries, dives all the time, and slashes a ton. Completely overrated
dived and slashed his way to 96 points? Lol
@@1plex1 He can be hit by one of my Knights and he'll flop on the ground like his leg is broken
Another Nail Yakipov in Mtrl coffin
What does Celine Dion have anything to do with Hockey, once again, us, the French Canadians found a way to make fools of ourselves. Don’t singers have Grammy Awards to get a presence on a stage?
De quoi tu parles, c'était super et tout le monde ont aimer ça. Y'a rien d'embarassant.
Its all about entertainment, doesnt have to make sense.
@@adamCarter20 well like I said, she can entertain the Grammys, that’s if Taylor Swift is not invited! Can you imagine if all the NHL team’s would have brought their own little ideas of entertainment. It’s not a comedy show for crying out loud, It’s the 2024 NHL draft.
