@@dunkdamonk Interesting comment. I think he and Larsson will inject all kinds of confidence into a few tentative forwards. Ron Francis sees something special here. Back to the playoffs this season.
Brossoit getting a real chance in Chicago now will be very interesting to follow. Very much could be a massive steal for a starter/co starter. Numbers were absolutely protected last year, but very good, and shouldve played more as a result.
As a wings/Cats fan I’m really disappointed with whatever Yzerman thinks he’s doing thus far (besides Kane, love Kaner) the panthers side of me is happy to see Monty go and Reinhart showing allegiance/blessing the organization for years to come. Montour became a defensive liability.
Montour needs his shot GPS redone. Last year I was thinking wow, he will be a big loss. This year, I am thinking, those surgeries didn't go so well. Well back to the scrap heaps for more undrafted D men that suddenly are good again in FL. Who else wants to resurrect their career? Come to FL. Play a year. and get a pay raise. Works for goalies as well.
Talbot is a solid add, Campbell no money and back into the system. No big splashes, but glad we didn't commit to a huge contract for an aging vet (Stamkos). Silly money.
Jester You know the sharks could have traded that 6 mill of cap room for a cap dump player and got 2nd or 1st rounds picks back or younger prospects who many NHL scouts would say looked good. The odds are the sharks will not win a cup in 4 years and his cap hit is high to think Grier wants to retrade Toffoli for a profit. Dumping an 8 mill Hertl for a 6 mill Toffoli just does not make sense. This is a win now type of move and the sharks are not in a win now mode.
@@DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants Eh, I disagree on it being a "win now" move, at this point the Sharks just need quality veterans to surround the kids with. Guys like Goodrow and Toffoli can actually put up points (I'm sure Goodrow will play a much larger role in SJ than he did in TB and NY) and they have a lot of experience on winning teams. Bringing that presence to the locker room is really important and you're probably not getting that with cap dump players, although I agree the Sharks should still take on a few. Just don't build half the team that way because Mike Hoffmans and Kevin Labancs are not the guys you want in your leadership core, and the Sharks simply need to ice a more competitive team than last year.
@@JesterRace139 Toffoli has a full no trade clause and it will be almost impossible to trade him for a profit. This is the type of contract a playoff team who got to round 2 or 3 and lost would pay. The sharks are the worst team. The sharks have a ton of vets and just got 2 more in Goodrow and Walman. Wasting cap room is foolish if you are the best team or the worst team and it hurts both. Toffoli will help the sharks win more meaningless games which will hurt the sharks in every round of the draft. Most fans have a very limited understanding of how contracts like this hurt a team like how Johnny on the jackets. That contract hurt the jackets the moment he signed it. Hertl getting 8 mill a year when the sharks were already awful same thing. The sharks can lose with anyone.
I agree with @jesterrace139. With our young guys ready to play in the NHL (Celebrini, Smith), I think it's important to set them up for success by adding good veteran players that can either get them puck or can score. Sometimes bottom feeder teams have to pay the "we suck tax" to get good veterans to want to play for them. I think $6 mil aav for Toffoli is a fair deal, especially with the cap going up. I don't see the Sharks looking to cap dump him at the end of the contract. I think he's a good veteran that can score and will help the young guys. Grier was smart to only offer 4 years max. Good signing.
As a Caps fan wow... Last year, we had Edmunson and Pacioretty. This offseason is ridiculously entertaining, with great trades, high risk/high rewards one and interesting signings. I love that new blue line, but with the two new additions, Carlson-Ferhevary-Sandin sure bets, it only leaves one spot for TVR, Bear, Alexeyev and the youngsters knocking at the door. We had issues during the playoffs with so many injuries and the Bears blue line, but I do hope that at least one of them is traded to make some room.
Conroy said deals would be short term and I'm glad that's what he stuck to. Absolutely stoked to have Lomberg back. He's going to drag the team into the fight and I think that will be a good thing to teach the younger guys.
It’s insulting. The part that infuriates me is that he could have totally just increased his offer by 1 or 2 million and kept him and Guentzel both. And the cap will continue to increase so I thought that would have been a no-brainer. JBB is such a puzzling guy. I don’t think he’ll ever make it up to us, even if Stammer returns for one more season. I hope he still wants to retire as a Bolt
As a Ducks fan, this is one of those depressing days where everything happend around you, you keep refreshing their IG page, and nothing happens. I know that's to then trade some players from other teams, but we could've signed at least ONE player for a couple of years, just not to be a meme (again).
Debrusk is fabulous to watch when he's on his game. Which is sometimes. Might also be interesting to consider the teams that lost the most depth, on a net basis.
As a Vegas fan it’s so sad to see Marchy go but I’m so happy for Johnny Marchessault and his family. He will always be a legend to us locals ⚔️ You just gained a huge piece preds fans, congratulations!! Looking like contenders with all of those additions.
The deep draft and the monster ufa crop of players changing teams seems somewhat unique. I don't remember a similar shuffle. The next few seasons will be interesting.
@@kurtwpg Yeah, I think he's a POS of a human being. The hockey is kind of irrelevant to me in this particular case because I'm sure everyone (fans and locker room) would have preferred Wedgewood.

@@lakespeed Oh I am quite familiar with him.My concern is the departure of Debrusk. I don't think Lysell can do the job, mind you I hope he proves me wrong.

Detroit: "we need a guy" "well when you need a guy you usually get Cam Talbot, Jack Campbell, or Eric Gustafsson, which would you like?" Detroit: "yes, where's Mike Smith?"
Man I don’t know what to say….. Rob made good trades at the draft a good step forward and then today? Like 3.8 for a bottom d when we needed a goal scorer? We lost Roy who was statistically one of the best d man last season and RV who massively improved our dog water pp and now we only have ONE right shot….. it really feels like we got worse. Our goalie is a huge question mark same with our scoring and power play and it didn’t feel like we didn’t do anything to improve.
I've lost all confidence in Blake, giving Edmundson a 4 year 3.8 mill deal is a massive overpay he's only slightly better than Englund, and he's very injury prone I could see him getting bought out in 2 years. Blake has made the team worse the last 2 years
The only Panthers gone so far that I really see loss in is Stenlund. He solidified that penalty kill. He balanced out the Barkov Reinhart top pair, added with Lundell. Canceled out some great players. The penalty kill has been a major issue for FL. They did a hell of a job this year compared to others. Lomberg was a fan favorite for none hockey skilled reasons. OEL resurrected his career, no big deal. How long is that going to hold? Montour, something went wrong with him. I think the injuries have added up. I am not that sad to see him go after all those missed shots over and over again. Those used to be goals. Stolarz, hope he does well. It's just the yearly thing. Bring in a back up. Does well, makes money. Pretty much disappears for 4 or 5 million. 4 months ago, OEL is trash, he is washed, now its 4 million dollars a year. I hope if Knight comes back up, he can go back to being a future number 1, not a guy that cant make 3rd string. Wouldn't mind if they traded him while he has some trade value, if he even does. Okposo is done. Tarasenko, eh, if he was really really cheap. Hope Stolarz does well with the Leafs and they can finally beat Boston.
As a Pens fan, they did more than I expected today. I knew they'd dump Riley Smith but i didn't think it'd be today. I'm content with the moves though. Got a few guys and didn't overpay for them. The bottom 6 will take any help it can get. Combined with some new coaches I'm hoping they'll at least make a little noise next season.

@@people3865 From Cap(s)Friendly: Can LTIR be used in the off-season? Yes, LTIR can be used in the off-season while the 10% off-season cushion is active. I'm pretty happy flames got Lomberg. Even though he's a replaceable 4th liner he's one of my favorite players 😂
his antics will be missed in FL. he's the guy that has no business being out there, but when he's on your team you want him to score 30 goals.
The Predators are stacked going into next season.
Stoked on Toffoli in SJ, these 30-35 year old vets are exactly what we need and we can afford to overpay a little if needed.
If you asked me 10 years ago if Toffoli would ever be a Shark, I’d say never in a million years. A lot has happened since those old rivalries.
Man, some gross overpays this year...
Laughably so--particularly with many of the terms.
As always
Of course there will be overpays as always on free agent frenzy. That´s what happens when there is bidding wars for players
Desharnais to nuckers 2 mill a season best pick up of the day hes a beauty got a mean streak plays hard on the puck
Buffaloed - To baffle, confuse, or fool someone
Marvel michkov signed his ELC!
As a Lightning fan, I just can't help but be disappointed that we lowballed our captain and let him walk.
Its part of the business man mayb he didn't want to b a Lightning anymore.
He should have ended his career in Tampa the lighting should be ashamed of themselves to low ball stamkos like that

Who would have thought that the Preds would have dominated
They're going for it this year and next, then they're going to be trash for a decade.
Great Video, as usual, Shannon
Predators look fuckin scary right now holy cow
As a Vegas fan it’s so sad to see Marchy go but I’m so happy for Johnny Marchessault and his family. He will always be a legend to us locals ⚔️
You just gained a huge piece preds fans, congratulations!! Looking like contenders with all of those additions.
The plus side for the knights is March was not great at defense or passing and Stephenson is not worth his new contract.
The deep draft and the monster ufa crop of players changing teams seems somewhat unique.
I don't remember a similar shuffle.
The next few seasons will be interesting.
Don Sweeney a risky day could cost him his job lol only time will tell
Pain.
Hate the Dallas news... like just... all of it. Headscratcher is one way to describe it... I guess.
You hated DeSmith?
@@kurtwpgI'd rather have Wedgewood
@@kurtwpg Yeah, I think he's a POS of a human being. The hockey is kind of irrelevant to me in this particular case because I'm sure everyone (fans and locker room) would have preferred Wedgewood.
It's a very sad day in Tampa. Next season is going to be very very rough.
Guentzel added from yesterday but no mention of Reinhart resigning?
I do not think either of the Bruins signings will age well.Glad to have them both now but I am left wondering why we even signed Zadorov, instead of a winger.
Watch a highlight reel of the hits Zadorov puts down and you'll figure it out, I'm sure.
@@lakespeed Oh I am quite familiar with him.My concern is the departure of Debrusk. I don't think Lysell can do the job, mind you I hope he proves me wrong.
Why did Ottawa do that ?
It's fascinating how all these teams were able to reach agreements within an hour or two of starting talks with the player, and there was no pre-July 1st 'tampering' whatsoever!
Detroit: "we need a guy"
"well when you need a guy you usually get Cam Talbot, Jack Campbell, or Eric Gustafsson, which would you like?"
Detroit: "yes, where's Mike Smith?"
Blake has made the team worse the last 2 years
Boston's going to be in a world of hurt 3-4 years from now, as Zadorov has disappeared and Lindholm is down to 45-50 points a season.
Lindholm is already down to 45-50 points a season but may have some early success in Boston. Zadorov is a beast and should do well in Boston.
4 years is a lifetime in the NHL
The delusional ramblings of fans of the other 31 NHL teams.
Knights fan sad that Marcy has gone to Nashville 😭😭😭
That is very nice handwriting
Tampa has like 7.5 million and has done nothing since signing Guentzel…amazing
This was intense. I tried listening at normal speed, found it hard to keep up. Tried .75x, then I phased out instead.
Love the devils moves. Fitz addressing everything they needed to do. 👍
Fyi, Sportsnet had Comrie at 2 years, and 1.65 mil. I believe i saw the jets tweet the same...
Ronnie Franchise went to work today!!! 13 million spent today!!!
I’m concerned but hopeful.
The Stephenson contract is way too long and way too much.
Better than us just sitting down and being quiet. These signings are worth the risk.

Actually, the CBA allows teams use LTIR to reduce the cap hit in the offseason as long as a team provides a doctor's proof that a player will miss the first 10 games and 24 calendar days of the upcoming season.
You sure about that? I have never heard that before. Its always been you can exceed the cap in off season
It's true
Also, yes you can exceed by 10%
@@people3865
From Cap(s)Friendly:
Can LTIR be used in the off-season?
Yes, LTIR can be used in the off-season while the 10% off-season cushion is active. LTIR in the off-season is calculated using the basic equation outlined above, which permits a team to exceed the off-season salary cap. To use off-season LTIR the team must provide doctors proof that the player in question will continue to be injured at the beginning of the regular season for 10 NHL games and 24 calendar days.
