@@JamieAlice92I have severe ADHD I need to listen to something while sleeping. I love using these long form movie reviews because I only need to set a few up in a playlist.
I really hope you and your wife are absorbing and cherishing all these amazing memories this first holiday season when your son. Thank you for taking time for us as well. You are awesome!
Brad, thanks for the years of hard work on these videos and then putting them in this comp format, makes the workdays go by faster and like @TheAustinWoolShow said, great for a laugh and falling asleep to. Probably watched these so many times, I'd be embarrassed to give you a guess but they're solid.
As someone of Moroccan heritage, i can't stress enough how prevalent the horrifying other-worldly puzzle boxes are at our markets, and you should really brace yourself if you plan to visit our fine country. Most of us have developed a substantial resistance to cenobites due to early and frequent exposure, but you might not have adequate immunity if you're unaccustomed. You should probably also stick to bottled water.
Enjoying these large retrospectives and the movies of the 80's series. When it comes to horror I've never been the biggest fan of pure horror, although I lov e watching things about horror. last year I tried to make an effort to watch more horror movies, the first Hellraiser was one of them. I'm a massive Star Trek movie to it was great seeing Andrew Robinson. I've always been able to appreciate horror from a technical standpoint but felt some of them, even the good ones, were too cheesy to take seriously. I really enjoyed Hellraiser. These reviews are must be a huge undertaking but they are so worth it.
I agree, it's great to see these compilations. Say, if it's ok to make a request, I'd love to see you cover Loving the Bad Man or Centurions of Rome (which was funded by a robbery).
Saw hellworld on acid when I was 20 having only seen the original 2 previously and only the faintest idea of the series' trajectory. glad to see it's an actual thing that exists and not a hallucination...i guess.
I feel like I'm so weird for liking the 4th movie. I even like the remote controlled robot to open the box. I dunno. I think it's entertaining. Kind of feels like a comic book.
I'm surprised that no one has made a film out of The Scarlet Gospels. It's a satisfying conclusion to Pinhead (or Hell's Priest as he's referred to) and his attempt to usurp Satan to control hell. The ending is actually kind of sweet, but I won't spoil it for anyone. I lost interest after the second film. I liked the characters of the Cenobites and wished to see their mythology explored more deeply and perhaps reveal that their not the villains we initially thought they were. We get a bit of that in The Scarlet Gospels.
I haven't seen a hellraiser film after the 4th one, but I've seen the reviews before. I always forget Henry Cavill is in the hellraiser video game rave movie. Brad always mentions the most obscure people to show up in a film, while ignoring the popular star types. Henry Cavill paints and fields Custodes in 40K, so he has my respect. Okay he mentioned Cavill right after I posted that he didn't.
I've seen the first six, plus the 2022 reboot. I've also read the original novella "The Hellbound Heart." My favorite of the films is still the second. Channels like this which provide an overview of films (and which I often listen to in the background while doing other things) have been helpful in getting me up to date on movies I don't necessarily have a strong desire ever to watch in full. I did make a point of watching the 2022 film when it came out, and while it is flawed, I think it's worth seeing for fans of the early series. It isn't a cynical cash-grab like so many other reboots, and felt like a serious attempt to recapture some of the elements of the original series, which were lost as it went on.
Another interesting fact about Clive Barker than might not be as widely known is how although most do consider him to be an actual human, he's actually Beelzebub in human form! I wasn't surprised, personally, but still a fun fact ehhhh.
Andrew Robinson has an interesting filmography if only for the few movies I remember him being in, having been killed by Dirty Harry, the Cenobites and Chucky.
When new world pictures released the first Hellraiser, Roger Corman insisted all the british actors be dubbed with American accents since he thought nobody would understand the original british accents.
I am a huge fan of the longer videos. Yinz would love Dr. Jordan Breeding, the man who singlehandedly saved the Cracked channel. Still, the snob is the GOAT. I have an idea too Mr Snob! The Snob and the Nerd? AVGN
Man, Ashley Laurence and the movie's awesome effects blinded me to some interesting motifs when I first saw this in late grade school. Julia is basically going through a midlife crisis: she's realizing her dreamboat husband grew up and is feeling threatened by her stepdaughter's youth and beauty. Men want her, not Julia. So in comes Frank to sweep Julia off her feet! Leave out the murder and BDSM angels and you have a fairly decent drama really. Hellraiser is a good movie, and a couple of the sequels are pretty good too.
Good job, that's somewhat similar to how the book is, except for a few alterations. Julia and Frank have an affair before she and his brother Rory are married. Kirsty is not his daughter but a close friend who also has feelings for him. Julia is indeed jealous of her, and both suspect the other is cheating. Kirsty tries to find evidence for Rory when she finds her bringing dudes home, only she's using them to resurrect Frank. The extreme erotic stuff is more the central theme than midlife crisis though, as it's more about turning passion and desire into a horror theme, and of course loss of love. Julia loses Frank, Kirsty loses Rory. One side lost to debauchery, the other, innocence.
Hellraiser's NES tie in was unlicenced and by the company Color Dreams who later became the religious video game publisher Wisdom Tree, and apparently had special chips in it to give it better graphics or something

I've got it, Jigsaw meets the puzzle box. Torture contraptions are like a misguided attempt to the cenobites. You don't appreciate life... you must experience immense pain, fear to then know the extreme pleasure and relief? DO IT! No idea what fucking script would pull it off, just do it.

Bravo! You're in rare form with this one. It's a brilliant take on one of my favorite movies. I'll revisit this often. Thanks dude!

Happy new year its hellraiser time
This is an awesome gift for the New Year! Thank you Brad! You're a real one!
I needed something like this for today
After I purchased HELLRAISER & TerryToon's THE MIGHTY HEROES cartoons at the same time back-in-the-day on VHS, I was good for WEEKS.
Definitely appreciated watching this! Thank you!

No, it was that he thought American audiences wouldn't go for a 99% British cast. It's not like they're Irish.
