Personally I think it seems kind of silly to give TH-camrs money on Patreon when they are purchasing a multimillion dollar toy. Between the boat and the hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of accessories, I think they’re doing fine without Patreon. They get sponsorship deals as well as TH-cam ad sense money and with more than half a million subs, they make good money. It’s kinda like sending millionaire politicians money. But hey, to each their own. 🤷‍♂️

Hi Jordan, love your channel and followed since the beginning.
Ive done several sailing trips to the Ionian in the last few years and I can tell you the chaos of people getting in to port and getting anchored, or tying long lines to shore, and then snagging chains and anchors in the morning when they leave is totally normal, it's actually part of the entertainment out there. I was terrible at stern to med mooring and long lining to shore, now I'm very confident doing it.
It may make you anxious but it may also be because you spend so much time in deserted anchorages. I would love to have the time to sail as you guys do but i only get a week here and there, so please don't beat us charter sailers up too much!

It’s nice to see some of the new items going onto your new home-on-the-water and to know that you’re getting the newest, and upgraded, versions of the water maker, dinghy and anchor. What was it like to get something to eat or drink while you were there? I didn’t see any vendors around the out er edge of the show, but I’m sure they were there since that’s where a lot of money is spent during any event like that. Looking forward to seeing your boat on the water.

Hello Nikki and Jason! Love your channel. ❤
You mentioned you’re shopping for inflatable paddle boards…. Highly recommend Sea Gods paddle boards! They are based out of Canada but their boards are made in China, so maybe hopefully easy for you to order. Also, I think its that time of year boards are on sale. Their artwork is second to none and they make a really high quality inflatable SUP. I’ve had mine for a year and used it a ton in that time. It tracks so well and paddles smooth and easy. You can get some speed out of it too! I absolutely love my Sea Gods Diatom! If I was going to get another board I’d try the Carta Marina Cx. It is the next step up from a wide beginner board and it has a kraken on it. So cool.

When I first saw the batteries, before I found out they were batteries, I thought they were fuel tanks that you go to shore, get fuel and take it out to your boat to put into your tanks with maybe an integral fuel pump. Empty they wouldn't add a lot of weight when empty and under the sides take up no room and frees up storing fuel jugs on the boat.

Good for you, Wynns, resisting the temptation to make low puns about 'ball fenders'; I'm proud of you! What a great interview with the Shencker people! Usually 'techies' boast about the electronics, but this guy accepted the fallability of electronics and emphasized back-up and bypass systems. Hope those guys give you serious discounts (or freebies), because the tough questions you ask, and honest answers you squeeze out of them give their products serious credibility... and didn't Nikki look chic and cute amongst those snooty Frenchies!

I am very excited for your new boat! I hope the sea trials go well and reveal any needs.
My being a water scientist and engineer, I will share some thoughts on the Schenker Zen design from intake to finished water:
Their schematic shows the pump as the first component. There should be a prescreen before the pump to extend the life of the pump head. Ideally, the prescreen would have at least two mesh sizes: one for course material (possibly a grate), and one for 200 to 300 µm. Those will require maintenance in the form of manual clearing, though there are designs that are fairly effective at automatic clearing, which can occur when the boat is underway.
Pump maintenance: beside the manufacture-specified maintenance, the next best thing to do is record the pump sound periodically (every 3 to 12 months) and play back the previous sound segments to listen for changes in pitch, irregular sounds, volume. Any substantial change in any of these indicates the pump motor may be dying.
The next component is the 5 µm filter. While that can be fine for many of the waters you will be in, clearly you’ve sailed in somewhat fouled waters and may again in future. I would add a coarser filter before the 5 µm; possibly a 25 µm that is easily changed out or manually cleaned. I suggest this because 5 µm is fairly fine and the particles you will entrain may clog it quickly. Additionally, 5 µm is not easy to manually clean (obviously ease of manual cleaning depends on what is clogging the filter [particles versus organisms]). My suggestion for a coarser filter upstream of the 5 µm is dependent on the relative costs of the filters and how often one has to replace the respective filters, versus the 5 µm alone; sadly such a cost comparison requires trying both configurations. So I would install the hardware to enable adding a coarser filter up-gradient in future, even if you choose not to add an up-gradient unit at this time when dozens of balls are in the air.
The rep is correct that reverse osmosis (RO) is more efficient running constantly, or near constantly. The membrane fouls faster when water isn’t moving. As a side note, testing the efficacy of a RO unit is easily done with a conductivity meter, which is likely what is used in their monitoring device. An ohm meter on lowest setting may measure conductivity manually as a back-up.
One unrelated side observation…the ZeroJet batteries are secured with webbing that doesn’t appear to contact the battery case. That leaves me wondering if they will shift in rough conditions.

Water-maker sound transmission. Through the air (your mic) and through the mounting to the hull/bulkhead (notice all the soft white foam)! Your hull/bulkhead becomes a very large diaphragm with motor vibration like a speaker. Also sound travels more effectively (Amplitude and distance) through solid materials than air. The open boat show booth with, background noises (people talking) and no mounting requirements is deceptive. Sound isolation mounts and acoustic foam on walls/ceiling of the compartment can help.

You should have OC build a solar panel integration into the topside(possibly add folding ones to setup along side topside integrated panels) so it can recharge while out. They should look into the panels Aptera is using on their solar car. The mini size of their panels mean each one charges independently so when people are sitting on the sides many of the panels will still be charging at full capacity.

Interesting episode. When I heard curved glass on the HH80, all I thought of was watching you two replace your curved glass on the Curiosity. And then thinking how difficult it would be to do the same work on the HH80 if it were necessary. Can't wait to see the sea trials. Have fun!

The glass on the HH80 is real glass, not polycarbonate plastic like the windows of Curiosity. They would not need to be replaced on the HH80 unless something catastrophic happened.

So, you just hopped on a plane from China to Cannes for the boat show.
I must be nice to be so flush!
The Zero Jet is the nuts!
Does the sales bod get paid by speaking as fast as the product?
I's from da Sud, I listens slowly.
I had to listen to it three times before I got it all.
I don't quite understand how it keeps out all the sand when moving toward or away from a beach.
Holy Mackerel, cylinders, balls, foam and bladders, lion, tigers and bears, oh my!
Like that 80 footer. Love to see it when it's done.
Typical German product, measure twice cut once and over engineer it too.
Yeah, sea trials ;ooling forward to them.
    Un abbraccio forte a due!

Note the sound from that water pump would be amplified on the boat, as it will be self contained in an aquatic environment (20:10'ish). Similar to an aquarium and why you should tap on glass, water will amplify that sound. And though it is quite quiet on land (a solid surface), that noise level will most certainly go up in the real world setting (on a boat cat or mono). It does sound like a significant improvement though.
