I agree 100% with you. For over 30 years I was a TV engineer and when I started TV's with electronic valves/tubes were still common place. Over the years solid state came to be the normal, but the game changer came when the Japanese started selling TV's here in the UK. Suddenly reliability improved beyond belief. One of the main reasons for this was that the Japenese TV sets mounted their chassis/PCB's horizontally so that any heat didn't travel up the board so eliminating overheating issues on other components. It took the UK manufacturers a while to twig-on, by which time the Japanese had a stranglehold on the market. History is a great teacher.
I really wish vertical was foolproof because having it horizontal makes it next to impossible to set this this thing anywhere without needing nearly a whole new table just for it
A lot of ppl have those first consoles from the first batch...I never buy consoles the first year because those ones have problems and then after feedback the company fixes the problems and new shipments don't have those problems
Mine did the same no fan noises then made a random loud pop after extreme acceleration from the fan. Fried the whole system, had to buy another yesterday
I’ve had one from day one, and have it upright on the stand and never had an issue with it. The Liquid Metal myth has been busted by everyone including Sony, the only consoles suffering from this tends to be ones that have been dismantled by tech reviewers wanting to look inside and then reassembling them.
@@GearsAndTech well mine must be super well built then as I have left Had it for a few years now and zero issues, and have never had it over heat once, also no issues with the latest final fantasy on it. Wonder if the different fan revisions have anything to do with the units over heating.
@@dave24-73mines the same had it since day one not One issue. I guess people don't know there is a thing called surface tension. The only way the liquid metal will shift is if it is disturbed either by a hard knock to the console or not putting it back together properly after opening it
I had my PS5 vertical for 2 years, and all of a sudden it started saying "Your PS5 is overheating, turn off console" right in the middle of my games. I was freaking out over it. I thought my PS5 was about to die. The minute I switched it horizontal I never received that notification again. Also from an I.T perspective I highly encourage PS5 owners to invest in an external cooling fan. They aren't too expensive.
External fans do nothing to keep the PlayStation cool because they are nowhere near the processor. All they do is blow air and dust through the system. I've tested them myself with thermal guages and there was no difference in temperature. They are just scams to get people who don't understand how any of that stuff works to buy them.
I have a launch PS5 disc version. Been vertical entire time, zero issues, fans never spin at full speed. Always playing AAA titles and VR2. It's well ventilated and I clean 1x/yr and find almost nothing. I flipped it over upside down like the video says, it immediately maxed fans, heat warning on screen. Flipped back over and runs perfect as ever. Just my experience
Instead of juggling your PS5, try using a charging dock that exhausts air from the bottom AND also a triple fan attached to the exhaust vent on the back. I have my PS5 verticle using the above-mentioned and have had no frame stutter since then. The additional fan on the rear helps blow out a tremendous amount of heat, so much so that your room will get warm. Don't place the PS5 in a shelf either. I have mine on top of the TV stand next to the TV/monitor 6 inches away from the wall.
@@GearsAndTech I suggest you do an update on this issue, considering the older models got hotter compared to the newer ones, I would like to know if the issue still persists on the newer models.
Sometimes i have my ps4 and ps5 running together and in the winter my room will be 10 degrees warmer😂 i have a small room tho. Its only 16x24. I like it tho bc its cheaper than a space heater on your monthly bill😂 only by about $6 but hey, in 10 years it pays for itself🤣🤣🤣 no im not broke. Im cheap. But thats why im not broke also🤣🤣
I have had my ps5 since day one. Standing vertically since day off the system is still very quite never over heats. No problems and yes I have played final fantasy with no problems.
it may also be over heating in the vertical position cause there are vents at the bottom where you put the stand in vertical position that may be pushing the hot air back in the consoles which may be heating up the mother board
this makes sense because mine recently blinks twice then shuts off instantly, when I took it to get diagnosed, they said it was an issue with my motherboard.
@@m0vsyI have the slim should the disc drive be on top? Might be a stupid question but I’ve had the series X for the last few years and just traded it in for a slim
Thank you for the message. I had my PS5 for several months, only thing my PS5 is doing after turning it on, it'll make a loud noise sound like a electric pencil sharpener, it doesn't happen all the time, to make it stop making the sound is to restart it manually, by turning it off and wait at least maybe a minute or less before turning it back on, I guess that it depends on how concerning you're feeling, or anyone else feels. If it makes the sound again after turning it back on, try again if you have too. That's what I've been doing for my PS5. It might be depending on what games we're all playing.
If you have a disc drive version that probably the culprit, try removing the disc and restart your system as it tends to spin up loudly when you boot your pa5 for about 20-30 secs.
The reason their overheating is after the first model CF1000 Sony reduced the size of heat sink down by 50%. That's why the first model is selling for double the price of the later models that will overheat sooner or later no matter what you do
This video is garbage. Nothing here is true. I’m pretty sure a company who invested millions into a product would test its heating capabilities in every way possible before telling people they can position it either way. Secondly yes the newer models have smaller heat sinks but they also have a smaller SOC. The original designed used 7NM iirc and the revisions and new slim uses a 6NM. So it doesn’t require as big of a heatsink because it doesn’t put out as much heat. You all should really use trusted sources that do actual scientific correct testing with correct equipment like GamersNexus instead of ramblings like this and BS statements in comment sections. Just to clarify I have an original day 1 PS5. I keep mine horizontal, well ventilated, and clean it once a month. Don’t be an idiot with your electronics and you won’t have any issues. PCs have been using Liquid Metal vertically for YEARs without issue. I use my PS5 only for exclusive games otherwise I play on my PC which also uses LM. Thermal Grizzly to be exact. Video is total BS for views and OP is either ignorant or knows it.
the comment has proven to be more efficient to find the answer. imagine being 3:31 mins in the video and hearing the lines "we're gonna answer that question shortly." like... that question could have been answered the bloody first minute of the video. dayuuuum.
Wall mounted about 4ft from the floor is perfect. Best ventilation all round and had no problems with mine. Took it out of the vertical bracket after over a year to clean it and had almost zero dust inside, literally a tiny couple of specs that wiped away with my finger. Never gets hot and runs completely silent. I have the gen2 fan version, there's 3 different models. Launch ones are the most unreliable.
Launch ones are the best. Biggest static cooler, other models are lighter because SONY had to cut cost of production. What problem did gen. 1 had? I have heard only of first dual sense controllers and left stick drift issue. I have one since may 2020. In vertical position. Never any problem. USB melting started with gen 3., not gen 1.
@@TriggaTrey361 I see that ads are really working for you? You are that guy that who will read the ad on the product and belive every word on it? Didn't you see Mad Men? Those agencies come up with these terms. Newer, better, more expensive. Gen 1 was too expensive to produce. SONY did not make any money. They were losing money on gen 1. Look it up. So now you have gen 2, and gen 3 - each lighter then its predecesor. So, LOL is on you - child of consumerism. I am perfectly satisfied with my 3 year old PS5 wich is half a kilo heavier than the newer ones. I like to have giant copper cooler. As for newer is better, look at cars. Best cars were made till the end of 1990s. Today everything is plastic wich will get people killed in a collision in which the cars from the few decades ago would have just a dented bumper. Things were made to last once, not just to pass the warranty. We live in consumer world. Or didn't you noticed? I mean - US children have XBOX, PS5, Super Ultra Gaming PC for gaming, and Mac for work or just to look nice by the newest iPhone. Three gaming devices for one person? And that is normal? Jesus, no wonder that China is kicking the hell out of US.
If they didnt use much liquid metal a hot spot could happen whether it is vertical or horizontal. Personally I have had mine vertically for 18 months and have had no issues.
I got some aftermarket side panels for mine that has screen filters right over where the fans are, and after about a year or so, the dust inside was fairly less than expected given the state of the vents themselves, didn't do a full teardown, but the fan blades still look fine and i very rarely hear them spin up to full while playing
Went with black ones my screens collect dust which is a good thing I clean them and I have the fan lights and a fan base with lights everything works great
To everyone reading this do not play games while having the PS5 upside down it will immediately over heat just like what happened to me after watching this video
I bought my ps5 3 months after it launched and it stands vertically in the open....It runs 24/7 three and 4weeks at a time with no problems.....I cleaned it 1 time when put in a new internal SSD....It's super quiet and i do a lot of heavy gaming..... Basically the only time it gets turned off is when a thunderstorm will knock the power out once or twice a year.....
By that case it might be that some people just have really dirty consoles that need cleaning. Some living spaces collect much more dust than others and a lot of people don't think about cleaning it.
@@seraphofthursdaypeople who smoke inside definitely need to clean it monthly. I clean my fan regularly because of the dust it gathers because of smoke.
Most problems can be completely avoided by good airflow and a simple cleaning every couple of months. It is like drivers who have a million problems that could have been prevented with a simple oil change.
What's the point Sony of having the PS5 be designed to stand vertically if standing it vertically causes the liquid metal thing to drip down then? I guess that's another example of why the PS5 came out half-baked. I've had my launched PS5 model standing vertically ever since i got mind on November 2020 (not on launch day) and it still runs well even though this video makes me more concern. I hate that modern gaming consoles seems to not be built to last.
Got mines during the first year and it I hav it on rest mode a lot of the times. No issues this is my first console standing up just cuz it’s digital only. Stop reaching !
The moment i bought my ps5 i bought a vertical stand with 3 cooling fans under and is right under a ac vent getting cool ac. Im 8 months in and no issues with heating so far.
Those fans are a scam. I've done tests of my own with thermal meters and I've seen others do them as well. The system gets no cooler from having those extra fans because they aren't anywhere near the processor. All they do is blow more air and dust through the system.
@@tonythetatman6924this sounds really dumb but please remember to take the cover when playing as I have a cover and I turn my console via my controller and the about of times Ive been playing and forgotten to take the cover off until I noticed about 5 mins in lol
My vertical stand has the fan blowing up and charges two controlers, i always thought allowing more air flow would not be a bad thing. Ever since i got my ps5 i've never seen a horizontal stand for the ps5 that included a fan let alone a controler station, so that was my answer to the best way to keep it. 🎉 never had any issues. 2tb loaded with space waiting on spider man 2 oh! Boy!.
I have my PS4 covered when it's not in use. I use the original cover it came with in the box. Still works great after 10 years. Planning to do the same with the PS5 when I get one.
All you had to say to your viewers was hot air rises and as to where the fan sits of the console so logic dictates if you flip your console vertically the fan would sit on the lowest point and blow already rising hot air out of the machine.
I started playing cyberpunk 2077 recently and I was getting hard crashes every 30 min with the console on vertical, I put it horizontally and since then not a single crash so that’s enough evidence for me…
I brought my ps5 today and after watching this i don't know what way is better off i don't want my ps5 stuffing up at the moment i have it standing up because it was easier to set up but i do have room to lay it down my mate has his ps5 laying down oh the decisions 😂😂
I keep my ps5 horizontal because it gets really hot on the bottom when it's vertical.People want to have there ps5 vertical that's there problem burn it up
I already touched on them not including a vertical stand with the slim. Guarantee part of that is warranty related. If you buy a separate vertical stand and your console winds up overheating and having a problem they can have a stronger case to disclaim the warranty because you didn't use the stand that came with the console.
I've been using a dust cover for my system since I've bought it. I've also had it vertical since I've bought it. Though I don't play it that much. It's also important to give your ps5 space for air flow. I'm a plumber, and for many things that I do appliance wise, you need air gaps so your object has room for breathing.
Having it horizontal is like having the console against a wall. The heat radiates back inside and makes one side hotter than the other. I have a little fan blowing in front of the system and out the back. The hot air comming out the back is about twice as much than before.
I've only had my PS5 for 2 months and haven't had any issues yet plus I haven't played it alot tbh as I have multiple systems to game on I have it standing vertically as that's the best for my setup and it looks way cooler than laying it down horizontal which I think looks just plain weird and dumb imo in regards to how the console was designed,....the same goes for the Series X I do keep all my systems covered from dust so that does help alot and don't hardly have to clean them You would think they'd tested this out thoroughly before they brought the PS5 to market, but if liquid metal was going to be an issue then why didn't they use something else instead If this does become a big issue like a 360 RROD situation then I would hope they would offer to replace the liquid metal with something else that would work as good and wouldn't affect if you stand the PS5 vertically
@@GearsAndTech I'm no expert of course, but I definitely think just simply keeping the PS5 clean on a regular basis is the #1 thing to do to help with any potential heating issues and longevity of the system I've seen some videos of dirty PS5s and the are REALLY bad O_O lol I admit I'm probably just a little OCD when it comes to keeping my systems clean...lol, Also I just want to keep them nice looking as well and to last cause we spend alot of money on these things :)
I knew this already I have mine horizontal to keep the liquid metal flat over the GPU, so it doesn't sit on one side has to be even and my PS5 is launch model.
I had mines for 2 years just got the overheating problem a few months ago and I usually clean it every 3-4 months I put it vertical to see if that helps like ppl said but I still had this problem and it’s only with ps5 games so I can’t enjoy my Spider-Man 2 game cause it randomly shuts off so tomorrow I’m doing a deep clean once my tools to clean it comes in hopefully this fixes the problem and I guess get a fan for the back as well
@@GearsAndTech so far it’s running good not as hot as it was but I’m still gonna try it out with other high performance games to see if I get that problem if it does I’ll do like you said tear it down and add some Liquid Metal
Most gaming rigs are built in vertical standing pc cases. This also means the heat sink, or AIO pump is mounted to a processor that’s not in a horizontal orientation I.e table top with the cooling method resting on top. This has been my case for years with various thermal paste and going on two years with a test rig using Liquid Metal. Not once has there been an issue with hot spots on the processor from dissipating compound. It’s the removal of the heatsink from the processor and not reapplying fresh compound or Liquid Metal that’s the issue, in combination with people not cleaning their system. In the case of computers, it’s a much simpler task and one that should be done minimum every other year (cleaning inside the computer case). Liquid Metal isn’t new and Sony wouldn’t advertise a vertical orientation if they discovered their console would run into issues going on 4 years with their console in this position.
I keep mine horizontally because I have the feeling it's the best way to put the console. I played FF16 demo but didn't check my system if it's overheating but I won't install it again because I already played. But I have one physical disc game which is Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, and I've noticed my console was heating because I play more than two hours. I have PS4 games and whenever I use it, it's not overheating. I heard playing PS5 games heats the console than PS4, so I'm trying to keep up with some more PS4 games. I'll only need some when I like the game, such as GTA 6 that I assume it's playable on PS5. So once again, I have to keep placing mine horizontally.
I have purchased the base for my PS5 that has two charging places for my controllers along with an extra built-in fan that I turn on when I'm playing any games and it seems to work just fine
Got a ps5 a month or so after launch. Camped out at GameStop for Black Friday and I’ve had it vertical the whole time I clean it every 6 months give or take I’ve stayed up for hours playing cod on it after I had my daughter I’ll just leave my ps5 on and wait for it to go into rest mode never got a over heating prompt before I don’t notice much frame drop and I don’t hear my fan often sometimes my ps5 cranks up a bit when I turn it on but after it’s on it’s quiet my ps5 seems solid as far as I know
I think a lot of the heating issue with these system has to do with people putting them in their T.V stand boxed in on shelf. I know a few people who had over heating issues and each one of them had it jammed in a shelf surround other electronics and even some having the door closed all because it looked "to cluttered" if it sat out on top of the tv stand.
I’ve been having the PS5 for 2 weeks now and have played a total of 36 hours 90% of which in an upright position. Is it a good time to start operating it horizontally without needing to use it upside down for a while before turning it horizontally? Thanks!
Better sooner than later. I used mine for 6 months vertically with no issues and just decided to turn it over horizontally on my own. I play 10+ hours a day daily. Although it can vary console to console and game to game, you have plenty of time to make that decision.
I have the launch system, has remained vertical almost the entire time I have had aside from when I am traveling. In Hotels I have room for it to be horizontal. I have never had an issue with my system
Main reason consoles get hot is poor ventilation & lack of general cleaning the dust out periodically. Cooling mats will help providing you power them with a separate 5v dc adapter NOT the console, giving the psu less work will help keep it running normal.
Have dbrand plates that have fan mesh cutouts and still have it vertical because I don't have room for it horizontal. Haven't had any issues with over heating or anything else. And have played FFXVI and ran fine
Personal opinion I preferably choose vertical as that’s how the console was revealed and how sony wanted them to be shown also they wouldn’t have included a stand if they weren’t meant to be vertical you would’ve had to buy a 3rd party stand but then again it’s you opinion because it’s your ps5 in your house so you should choose the way you want it
Had my og ps3, ps4,ps4 pro and my ps5 all in the vertical position and never had a problem. And yes i played for long periods at a time with all of them. My ps5 since launch has been working perfectly so basically don't listen to people like this because they don't know shit!
I have the Dbrand darkplates 2.0 side plates on my ps5 and also another fan that clips onto the back of the ps5 to pull more of the heat out plus its sitting verticle. I havent had this setup long enough to see if it works, but i hope it works to keep the heat down.
Horizontal since day one, just cause it fits perfectly in my media cabinet and it’s not an eye sore. I also don’t play it very often and is just there too look nice.
if i switch from vertical to horizontal so assuming the liquid metal has slided down a bit shouldn't i turn it vertically upside down first for like 2 weeks or so then i put it horizontal? because if i put it horizontal right away the liquid metal won't change position..
had my ps5 since day one release launch and have it standing up since day one and have never had any "ps5 too hot" issues, my ps5 has never ever turned off because of heat issues, yeah, my ps5 gets warm playing it hours and hours, but that is every gaming console, pc, or any electronic.
@GearsandTech I wonder how the 1100 overheating more when it has less copper just like the 1200. I have had my 1100 ps5 since Sept 2022 standing up but I never had any overheating issues. I replace my 1100 and gave it to my brother. I have a 1215a now is it OK to have it standing since it has less power consumption and copper or is it best to have it laying horizontal
Is there a way to monitor the temperature on a dashboard? ie: on screen display, Bluetooth to phone/app, or external hardware? I have an automatic temp regulating fan for my AV receiver. Does such a thing exist for ps5?
Great video! I just got a Playstation 5 from my girlfriend. She surprised me! I put mine horizontal and now I was wondering, how often should I clean the fan?
Just a heads up turned mine upside-down and 5 min into the game .. got a warning that ps5 to hot and shutdown… i never had problems with mine vertically just thought I would give it a try 😂😂😂😂 but got the message did anyone else tried upside down and got the message???
By logic, though, it should be sitting horizontally, and this is to avoid most kinds of failure with liquid metal. Over time, a seal can go bad and eventually leak due to gravity if standing vertically. My only criticism here would be that the system should be designed with the disc drive on top of the console instead of it being underneath. My second criticism, although due to design, should have the expanded SSD topside instead of on the bottom. Heat rises as a basic principle of thermal dynamics, so I am confused why the PS5 was designed with the SSD facing the optimal position. This might have something to do with cooling, but an engineer should be the one to answer this question
P played 16 for 12+ hours watched every cut scene no overheat has ever happens knock on wood but I also clean mine fan and everything every other month it's still new inside lol it's a launch model and it's a good one
I've had mine standing, and I have a launch system, and now it doesn't work just went out yesterday. PS5 games doesn't work but PS4 games does. When I put in PS5 games it just shuts off.
does put it upright if I use disc drive or vertical what I need do as well what Sony tv best for it and what features should I enable when using google tv like Sony.
@GearsandTech ok good to know thanks so is there any way to get so the chat is on the tv and not through the controller I've tried things I've watched different videos and tried them all saying pretty much same thing and still can here people talking through controller instead of the tv
Buy the d brand panels an that will help it stay cooling it's vertical cause they put a fan hole so cool air can keep it cooling have the slim with them an it never gets hot vertical

Maybe it doesn't leak out. But it is thinning out and creating hot spots
The only way the liquid metal will shift is if it is disturbed either by a hard knock to the console or not putting it back together properly after opening it
It can also be forced out by heavy vibrations from peoples subwoofers who have powerful surround sound systems.
@@Cloud_Strife0811 you'd have to have it literally sat on the sub which is stupid anyway. Magnets are bad for most electronics
Absolute waste of money, you do not need an external fan. Ffs are people really that stupid🙄🤣🤣🤣
External fans do nothing to keep the PlayStation cool because they are nowhere near the processor. All they do is blow air and dust through the system. I've tested them myself with thermal guages and there was no difference in temperature. They are just scams to get people who don't understand how any of that stuff works to buy them.
Sorry to ask what is your ps5 model?
Nice cap
I’m getting a ps5 for Christmas thank you for telling me
I have a launch PS5 disc version.
Wow. I've never heard someone with that experience before
Instead of juggling your PS5, try using a charging dock that exhausts air from the bottom AND also a triple fan attached to the exhaust vent on the back.
All great tips.
I had my ps5 for over a year and kept it vertical the whole time. Never had a problem.
Good to hear

Same
I've had my PlayStation for over two and a half years vertical no issues
Same lol
Same until helldivers now I crash frequently 😢
I have had my ps5 since day one. Standing vertically since day off the system is still very quite never over heats. No problems and yes I have played final fantasy with no problems.
it may also be over heating in the vertical position cause there are vents at the bottom where you put the stand in vertical position that may be pushing the hot air back in the consoles which may be heating up the mother board
Fax that’s why horizontal is better I’ve had mines for a month in horizontal and nothing has happened
this makes sense because mine recently blinks twice then shuts off instantly, when I took it to get diagnosed, they said it was an issue with my motherboard.
I can second this, PSU overheating after installing an additional NVME expansion with Samsung 990 Pro
@frost I had my PS5 last September and I installed a Samsung 990 pro, 2TB not long after. No issues whatsoever.
That's why the first model is selling for double the price of the later models that will overheat sooner or later no matter what you do
Good to know.
Its not the reason, the new models 1100 and 1200 heating less than the 1000 model
Launch ones are the best.

I got some aftermarket side panels for mine that has screen filters right over where the fans are, and after about a year or so, the dust inside was fairly less than expected given the state of the vents themselves, didn't do a full teardown, but the fan blades still look fine and i very rarely hear them spin up to full while playing

The first batch had problems with that, they fixed it later. I bought mine in 2022 so I hope my batch is good.

I played the entire game of FF16 and did not notice a hiccup .

Can't hurt
In my opinion, the design for the ps5 kinda sucks to have it horizontal
Non che in verticale sia meglio 😂
Why looks like crap standing up
@@Vintagegamer1988 what I’m saying is, that it’s not designed to be horizontal
All you had to say to your viewers was hot air rises and as to where the fan sits of the console so logic dictates if you flip your console vertically the fan would sit on the lowest point and blow already rising hot air out of the machine.
It's a little more complicated than that
I started playing cyberpunk 2077 recently and I was getting hard crashes every 30 min with the console on vertical, I put it horizontally and since then not a single crash so that’s enough evidence for me…
I had my ps5 for about 6 month and I put it horizontal from day one. It´s runs very quiet and no heat issue, this is the way.
Awesome
I brought my ps5 today and after watching this i don't know what way is better off i don't want my ps5 stuffing up at the moment i have it standing up because it was easier to set up but i do have room to lay it down my mate has his ps5 laying down oh the decisions 😂😂

That's important
Do you rly need the round stand ? i got the ps5, not using the round stand and havent had problems yet, having it vertical ofc.
No. It makes it a lot more stable
cool thanks. @@GearsAndTech
I already touched on them not including a vertical stand with the slim. Guarantee part of that is warranty related. If you buy a separate vertical stand and your console winds up overheating and having a problem they can have a stronger case to disclaim the warranty because you didn't use the stand that came with the console.
I would just tell them I used the stand
I've been using a dust cover for my system since I've bought it. I've also had it vertical since I've bought it. Though I don't play it that much. It's also important to give your ps5 space for air flow. I'm a plumber, and for many things that I do appliance wise, you need air gaps so your object has room for breathing.
Having it horizontal is like having the console against a wall. The heat radiates back inside and makes one side hotter than the other. I have a little fan blowing in front of the system and out the back. The hot air comming out the back is about twice as much than before.
Sounds like a good setup
I've only had my PS5 for 2 months and haven't had any issues yet plus I haven't played it alot tbh as I have multiple systems to game on
I have it standing vertically as that's the best for my setup and it looks way cooler than laying it down horizontal which I think looks just plain weird and dumb imo in regards to how the console was designed,....the same goes for the Series X
I do keep all my systems covered from dust so that does help alot and don't hardly have to clean them
You would think they'd tested this out thoroughly before they brought the PS5 to market, but if liquid metal was going to be an issue then why didn't they use something else instead
If this does become a big issue like a 360 RROD situation then I would hope they would offer to replace the liquid metal with something else that would work as good and wouldn't affect if you stand the PS5 vertically
To be honest, most users reporting issues have had their system 2 years and probbaly need to clean it out

What do you think about slim not coming with verticle stand?

Although it can vary console to console and game to game, you have plenty of time to make that decision.
if a product is presented by sony in a certain way, then that it the correct way which is standing up

Main reason consoles get hot is poor ventilation & lack of general cleaning the dust out periodically.

That's crazy!
can I just use thermal paste instead of liquid metal?
Yes
Exactly

I've had mine standing, and I have a launch system, and now it doesn't work just went out yesterday. PS5 games doesn't work but PS4 games does. When I put in PS5 games it just shuts off.
That's really weird
What of you try a digital game?
does put it upright if I use disc drive or vertical what I need do as well what Sony tv best for it and what features should I enable when using google tv like Sony.
Turn off all image processing. Ideally put it to game mode
Ok so just got a ps5 for the first time and currently have it standing i do have room to lay it down but what if you get one of those cooling stands?
Lay it down if you can
@GearsandTech ok good to know thanks so is there any way to get so the chat is on the tv and not through the controller I've tried things I've watched different videos and tried them all saying pretty much same thing and still can here people talking through controller instead of the tv
PS5 i have when i play always add 2x12 cm fam 220v. I put in front of ps5 air intake, and i put fan mesh on 12cm fan,
Buy the d brand panels an that will help it stay cooling it's vertical cause they put a fan hole so cool air can keep it cooling have the slim with them an it never gets hot vertical
Brand short circuits the ssd cooling slot
Them make it overheat when it has a slots for the fan didn't know that
