      Hey
      Scott Laboch,
      Your story is different. You are not worth $10 million dollars and a Superstar Franchise player. Jack Eichel is taking a huge risk and gamble on his playing career. The problem here is that his procedure has never been done on Hockey players. It’s a violent game as is. The Buffalo Sabres had a huge investment in him. They have every right to be involved in his medical care. You would too, if you invested $10 million dollars plus he’s a Franchise Superstar.. You are different as you are not a professional hockey player making millions of dollars. For your health it mattered. He should have had joint decision with the team. Granted they did not build him around him correctly.
      Now you have to look at this trade. Buffalo got decent pieces. Vegas got a question mark.

    • @scottlaboch4534
      @scottlaboch4534 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@charleskletter8974 So u think only hockey is a physical sport? Plenty of MMA fighters have had the surgery done with no issues. I do believe MMA is more physical. I do like the haul we got. IF the ADR doesn't work for Jack...then I guess we won the trade.

    • @charleskletter8974
      @charleskletter8974 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scott, We can’t compare MMA fighting to NHL HOCKEY, a sport played at a fast speed and plus he was worth $10 millions, millions to the league as he was second to Connor McDavid in the 2015 draft and millions to Buffalo.. he will never be the same player. Having this kind of surgery in hockey is different than let’s say MMA Fighters where television broadcasting, marketing plays a huge role in those players who are Superstars. He will no longer be Franchise Superstar Jack Eichel, just Ordinary Jack. Risky decisions by Jack. He also made an embarrassment for himself and the Buffalo organization who made him their investment. Maybe it’s a cover up by him to get out of Buffalo. I hear he had a coke issue.. maybe he falls under the radar now, goes into rehab.. who knows the truth. For Buffalo, instead of living up to his end , Eichel chose the easy path out or a way out. He is no Connor McDavid and never will be. Sometimes I wonder if these players are over hyped coming into the draft. Looks bad for the NHL run by a lawyer no less in Gary Bettman who seems to focus more on money not on the integrity of the league. Bettman for the sake of the sport and league , must go. Just like James Dolan, Glen Sather, Chris Drury and Gallant must go… making the league a laughing stock.

    • @charleskletter8974
      @charleskletter8974 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Also Scott, no more expansion.. hockey was great when Canada ruled. Too much expansion in markets where hockey isn’t the thing. Football and Baseball and Basketball are the thing.
      Plus we have gossip mouths in these beat reporters and analysts like Friedman. How long has Jack Eichel been in the news.. a boring saga. Did you ever hear Gretzky complain, Mario Lemieux , etc… they rose to the challenge and led the way, or was in charge. Did you ever hear Derek Jeter complain? Never. He rose his game level to the challenge. Now we have prima donnas.

    Roam Hockey did a analysis on stats & winning % the 6 previous seasons without Eichel & with Eichel.
    The Sabres did score more goals with Eichel but they also allowed more goals with Eichel (& Rhino & Risto) but the winning %? It was basically the same so Eichel did not matter at all to the bottom line of winning & in the end the Sabres will become a deeper team going forward. Also because of the lack of success of the big 3 the Sabres were able to draft Dahlin, Mitts, Cozens, JJ, Quinn, Rosen & Power (along with other younger players). They also have 2 more extra 1sts & 2nds along with their own 1sts & 2nds over the next 2 drafts. I am happy Eichel is now traded (along with the other 2) & the Sabres now will have a better team over the long haul because of it.

    After the 2005-2006 campaign, when Mike Grier was not resigned, his comments were profound: “The Buffalo Sabres are not committed to winning.” It’s been primarily PR marketing and advertising since. Hopefully Kevyn Adams won’t be duped by his bosses, so far he’s managing the franchise well - thankfully Power chose to return to Michigan - but, if the jerseys change yet again, and young talent is forced into non-hockey business, then I’ll know it’s business as usual in Buffalo.
    Crosby was mentored and lived with Lemieux as a teenager. Eichel was… even Pat Lafontaine quit as president after a month or so. Something stinks inside the Sabres’ front offices, maybe it’s from Pegula’s gas and oil wells?

    Two thoughts, 1. My mother’s friend is married to the man who owns the team and he’s a wonderful person. Invited us to games on numerous occasions and we live in NC. 2. The team has to endorse a life insurance policy on you and your contract. They did the same with Patrick Mahomes. You wanted a surgery that was never done before for an NHL player and the risk assessment was to high to probability endorse a $$$ value off your contract if you had serious complications. They were paying you roughly $9 million a year ? Well, if they cannot endorse your contract in a policy for insurance, then they not only lose your future value but they lose your contract term value and it stays on the books.
    You were never as good as Mcdavid, it’s okay. No one is. But you used to be a top 5 NHL player at one point and you can get back to that. Best of luck with the surgery.

    I will admit that I never knew that a team had final call on the surgery that would be performed on a player, and that is pretty out there. I can see a team having a divergent view from what the player has, and maybe even a highly spirited debate over it. The team certainly has an interest, they're paying one heck of a lot of money to a player, and I can see them having a voice in the process. But the only one who has to live through the consequences, whether it means all is well or enduring a hardship, is the player. The final call HAS to be with the player.
    Not surprising that Buffalo wanted the fusion surgery. Pretty safe, time-tested, works, whereas replacement has never been done for an NHL player. I can see Jack's position as well. Don't turn me into an old man who can't turn his neck properly because flexibility is super-important in this sport. That injury was the final straw, however. It wasn't the only straw. Buffalo could not get its footing to put a serious team together, or rather (my opinion anyway) a coaching staff capable of righting the ship, and after a period of time, Eichel is watching his prime years go by and playing on a team that can't even sniff the playoffs. Reminiscent of how the Oilers squandered first pick overall talent. So, Jack soured on the team, it showed, then the injury. Definitely time to part ways. Everybody needs a greener pasture.

    As a Sabres fan myself Jack wants a cup, we were in No position to even make playoffs. I hated seeing him waste his talent. Maybe go win a cup and come back

      Hahah, dude he just got away from that dumpster of a franchise, he's never going back and I don't think anyone could blame him.

      @@paulthompson8793 franchise isn’t a dumpster fire. It’s Kim being in charge of hockey operations is what the problem is. She has no hockey iq and Jack knows that’s and realizes as long as she’s in hockey operations Sabres aren’t wining a cup. Wish they’d sell the team to someone who wants to keep the Sabres in buffalo but who will bring a cup to this franchise

    Glad to see Sabres fans being so reasonable. Hopefully the rebuild goes well. Sad eichel is coming to my division but glad he got what he wanted. Too talented to waste his prime fighting for an 8 seed.

    I highly doubt that Eichel did this “for the team”.
