Great video Nick. When I was a 17 year old plumbing apprentice in Edinburgh I bought my first mini. It was a 1071 Morris Mini Cooper S. I was bloody fast but it overheated on a daily basis. It needed an oil cooler which I couldn’t afford. They eventually replaced the engine with a 1275 to solve the overheating. I’m 73 now and would have it back in a heartbeat.
Very good review, thanks. But would just mention that the boot capacity figures you quote are for the 3 door. The 5 door has about a third more, being 278 litres with the back seats up, & approx 940 litres with them down.
Thank you! Just added a pinned comment for the correction, thank you! I did not realise it was different between the two! Thanks for pointing it out! 👊🏼
Interesting review Nick. The Mini clearly isn’t for everybody and the rear passenger space is rather crazy. However, I wonder if many of us stop and think about it: when was the last time you drove anywhere in your car with passengers in the back? Driving pleasure will compensate for many people I guess. But…could I compromise….probably not. Cheers, Ken
Hi Nick… My very first car was a Mini… 50 years ago🙈🙈🥴🥴. I loved it and it was very basic….wow look how far they have come and it looks great. Loved the colour and the wheels….but unfortunately there was no way you were getting in the back😂😂😂🥴🙈
The larger centre display is nice, but not keen on losing most of the toggle switches & climate control knobs, as well as the rotary i-drive controller. Oh, and by getting rid of the gear lever in the DCT automatic means you can only get any form of manual change by spending £3,000 or so for the Sport trim which gives you paddle shifters. A lot of cost cutting on this generation I think.
Thanks Nick. A very nice Cooper 5 door can be specced for £26,720 which these days is pretty good for a quality warm hatch. The designers have done a good job with their brief, just a shame about the loss of some driver interaction. New to channel, have you reviewed your partner's Cooper S?
Whenever I hear about Mini Cooper, one of m favourite British characters comes to mind. Of course that’s no less than the legendary Mr. Bean. Do you think BMW should think about a modern mini moke? I wish Mercedes-Benz would produce a mini G-class including the boxy looking body.
Mercedes mini G-Class? Now that would get some looks! Oh yes I remember Mr Bean! I remember him locking the car with a padlock on the outside then throwing the keys in through the side window to keep it safe 😅 Those were funny for their time!
I have to say I do hate that the rear left blinker looks like a right arrow and the right one looks like a left arrow. It really looks confusing from behind.
Mini Cooper C has been tested on WLTP 45.6 MPG to 46.3 MPG. So on a run at a decent speed you can get to that figure. When out filming I was always getting 40 something unless I was in heavy traffic.
@ thank you for replying, about to order a 3 door but waiting for Euro7 car. They may drop the 1.5 and have a de tuned 2.0 B48 as they’ve done in the new Mini Convertible.
@@npolearyI have to say I like the black. Drove really great and I’m 6’5” and plenty of room and comfortable and enough room in the boot for my Golden Retriever 👍
I always think of mini's as a bit old-fashioned. They have been around for ages now in one form or another, so for me & many other people, they just go unnoticed, we have a second car, which is a Toyota Yaris GR line new & that for me feels like go-kart & is great fun.
Not sure about the large touch screen, might get pulled over by police if you keep touching the apps while driving, basically a large phone screen. Unless you can voice activate the apps.
Thanks, Nick. I have not actually been a fan of the 'new' Mini's, even from 20 years ago 'new'. I have always liked the 70's and 80's models. I had a 1976 model for many years, I am a Mr Bean fan, after all. I must say that the Mini grill looks like a HUGE single, stretched out new-style BMW grill, but only half of the kidney stretched out. LOL. Don't like those HUGE BMW grills either. Have a great one.
Thanks again for watching! 🤓🙏🤓 Yeah it’s not been the type of car I would have ever picked….but I am glad I’ve had one for an extended time to test out. I’ve driven my partner’s one on and off over the past few years and it’s great fun to drive! Kind of makes me wish I had least owned one once! And this new one was just as fun and engaging to drive! Ah Mr Bean episodes were great! 😅
Never liked the look of the 5 door a Mini should be 3 doors IMO. Not sure the fabric dash will wear well. I bought an almost new Mini Cooper S in 1968 (yes I'm old) but never got to drive it. As I was going to pick it up a mechanic took it out for a test drive after servicing it and hit a lorry righting off my car😅. Needless to say they had to give me my deposit back and I kept my Triumph Vittesse 2 litre ( a lovely car).
Really impractical - I'd hate to try to drive something like that - silly positioning of what controls there are. Gimmicky! I had one of the first generation BMW Mini and loved it. I replaced it with the second generation Mini. First car I rejected, the replacement was the worst car I've ever owned. The dealership and BMW customer service was dreadful.
We own a Cooper S, admittedly I’m 173cm and my kids are around the same size. We’ve been on long road trips with the kids in the back with no problem at all…
I have driven Mini Cooper for the last 22 years and I love them, but I was so sad to watch the new design. I felt the Mini spirit had been lost and Im just not feeling it anymore, so a few months ago when I changed car I also switched brand. The new rear design is absolut garbage and it is too big. Its probably still a really good and reliable car, but sadly, its no longer for me

I do remember my first car too, I also had issues with it overheating and losing water 😅 Wasn’t a Mini though!

Very true Ken! Oh yeah I’ve probably had maybe a handful times where I’ve had people in the back!
Thoughts on the new Mini 2025? Does it have the same character as before? Comment below! ⬇
😂thats actually quite funky nick..i can't get used to you in a mini mate!...to be honest..but hey..merc fan gazzz😂...
Yeah it’s a squeeze for 4! But for two! A good city car!

Yeah there was no way….that’s me and my long legs I guess!
Owned a Mini Cooper some years ago. Fun for a while but completely impractical

Yeah I did note that you couldn’t change gears on the trim I had, either that or I missed it. But there certainly weren’t any paddles!
Thanks Nick.

Haha no not yet, I ought to! If you think you’d find it interesting? 😎
@@npoleary Definitely!
The blue is really nice. The thing I dislike the most to be honest is the rear. Does not look good imo.
Yeah I have heard that from a few people, I don’t mind it to be honest

Sorry it looks terrible I prefer the previous model. Interior is not good and the exterior is no better.
I have to say I do hate that the rear left blinker looks like a right arrow and the right one looks like a left arrow. It really looks confusing from behind.
Yeah I did think that, it looks like an arrow….at least you can change the pattern 🙏
How economical was the car? I understand the 1.5 can be thirsty.

MINI is waning. I find them struggling in the future, esp. at the prices.

Great review as always 👊 I love Mini’s but have to admit, the new generation of line up are unbelievably ugly.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching! 🙏
i would never buy a mini with 4 doors.
i would never buy a larger car than a mini 2 doors. perfect size.

Four door two seater - ridiculous!
Haha yeah it was a squeeze!
Tbh, if you need rear seats, get the Countryman. Theres honestly no reason to buy the 5 door version over the original 3 door one
It isn’t a car for 4 x 6+ footers. I had the previous generation 5 door Mini Cooper. I’m around 5 ft 10 and passengers fitted behind me just fine.
We own a Cooper S, admittedly I’m 173cm and my kids are around the same size. We’ve been on long road trips with the kids in the back with no problem at all…
