ROAD TRIP CURSE! I Broke My Abarth
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 10 ก.พ. 2025
- Let's go to Paris! First: choose a car, then second: break down along the way... We're heading from The Shmuseum to Retromobile and the RM Sotheby's auction in the French capital, however, my little Abarth Ferrari Dealer Edition is definitely doing everything it can to stop us getting there!
Symptoms:
intermittent power steering (electric)
ESP failure
Hill hold failure
EML/limp mode
Potential causes:
Old and weak battery (it's a Fiat/Abarth afterall)
ABS or wheel speed sensor
Corroded earth connection
Let's see what's wrong soon!

I'm loving more of Puppi on this channel. She's a great personality to add to the channel. And Brad too! I didn't realize how much I had missed him.
Absolute pleasure! Glad to hear you're enjoying this style of authentic content; sharing car life as it is.
@@TheShmuseum
I think for a lot of us who either do road trips, collect cars etc. this is a lot more relatable. I enjoy this a lot for sure. Not meaning that the small car is a must, but just car life and garage life as a whole.
I agree one hundred percent 💯
She beats looking at schmee/Tim all the time. A pretty gal & great cars beat schmee all day everyday.
@@TheShmuseum Only just its fiat this time, not a car :)
This is always so much more enjoyable than your "Shmee" channel. Just Tim and Puppi off to Paris for the weekend. Puppi has a great sense of humour, the "box-box-box" joke coming off the motorway was perfect. You guys are significantly more affluent than myself, but I really enjoyed seeing you as just a couple of car enthusiast on a road trip instead of the glitz and showtime of the normal channel. I could almost relate your experiences to my own driving down to Le Mans with my fiancée in one of our cars. Cheers both.
This is what I wanted more of. The bts of the longer road trips. Thanks for this, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Also if an old italian car didn't have problems, that would actually be scary. 😂😂😂
Glad you enjoyed it!
I really think if Tim stuck to more videos of this type he would see more viewers/subscribers who are maybe less traditionally enthusiastic about his other channel/alter ego. I really enjoyed this vid, i hope there's more of this ilk to come.
Really pleased you like it! I'm a numbers guy and I am FASCINATED by the statistics that the two channels reveal, and how different they are. It's a surprise to me that the channels appeal to quite different demographics, which might be a video topic for the future.
@@TheShmuseum
Would be an interesting topic for sure.
@@TheShmuseum Would be interesting to hear. Because I greatly prefer the more concise, scripted and to the point nature of the videos on the Shmee150 channel.
Glad to see Puppi being more sociable on TH-cam once again on the channel. She is always a hoot even though she is always lurking in the background !
Puppi jinxed it “potentially unreliable “ lol
Apparently she did!
How nice to have so many cars to choose from
Just showing my continual appreciation for this channel and the videos :)
Thank you!
Love a road trip adventure, looking forward to the auction. Great to see Mrs Shmee on the channel 👍🏻
Video of the auction coming next on the main channel!
Puppi sound delighted to go to France in the Fiat 🤣🤣🤣
I imagine he's a tad high maintenance lol.
Thanks for bringing us along for the spontaneous adventure 🙏
You bet! More to come
I used to own an Abarth from the same generations. Got so many memories haha. We did a roadtrip in it too. Stuffed with as much as we could fit in it.
Love this kind of content.
Thank you!
100% battery, I have a Abarth and had the same problem last summer👌
100% this.
Puppi's "Box! Box! Box!" made me laugh
When was that? Timestamp?
When was that?

Gotta love having the different characters here. So fun to explore the world as much as the cars themselves. Been watching Shmee150 for some 8 years (I was 12) and the Shmuseum is so fun as well.
It’s nice to see Tim and Pupi in their daily lives traveling together 😊
I love that’s it’s not all super cars all the time. It’s cool to see the small hatches get out too
Wow, this content is gold, you two are really a pleasure to watch in this "natural" environment. I know enthusiastic Shmee voice is what holds peoples attention better, but i personally enjoy this more, especially the fact your wife (i suppose) is not silent. It kinda always made me feel uneasy because she never says anything on Shmee, so this is one of my favorite videos youve made.
I don't comment often, but I've been watching since you picked up the MP4-12c, and you motivated me to start running large car shows. A lot of my knowledge of cars comes directly from your videos. You might say I'm a closet Shmee super fan, lol. This format seems like a natural way forward for the second channel! It's super fun to see behind-the-scenes and the natural conversation. This channel's audience is well-behaved and supportive enough. Super fun video. Cheers from St. Louis, Missouri. (PS: Ive had a 1/300 Shmee edition Cerulean Blue 675LT on my desk for years and I genuinely think it might hold the title for best looking car ever made 😉)
I appreciate that!
I well remember doing a holiday trip to France in 1970 in a Standard Mini. Four people, luggage, tent & camping gear, with roof rack!! By the time we returned I'd flatend the exhaust!!
Love that you did that! Memories for life
She is adorable. Not that you need my approval or anything, but she's a keeper. Fantastic personality and her voice isn't annoying.
Puppi saying box,box was great 👍
There is something very satisfying from the mutual respect that is occasionally encountered when out on a drive, be it in a Supercar or an Abarth...
Mrs Boulder would definitely have chosen the Abarth....
I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a Shmee video more than this. What a fun video!😅
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great car. Loved mine. Sad to have sold it. Want another. This was a great video to watch while on my treadmill. Thx
At least you didn’t have the power steering issue on the Nurburgring. I hope the Abarth gets back to the UK with no more problems.
Plenty of comments below are all in agreement;
We love seeing Puppi on the channel. I think we'd all be pleased with more laid-back, day-to-day content like this.
Great to see more of Puppi150. A real asset to the channel 👏🏻👏🏻
Tim looking under the bonnet of a car is one of the funniest things Ive seen in a while lol
Everything has a first!
Brave work there Tim but one of your best videos for some time! It is interesting to see you worried as we all would be with warning lights and intermittent faults. By comparison, I recently was a passenger in a 2012 500 1.4 petrol which was a garage “hack’ and used to ferry customers. I had delivered a car to them from Bristol to a garage in Cornwall. I can tell you that even with three passengers, the Fiat didn’t drop below an indicated 90mph all the way back..130 miles of A30/M5..I was astonished and glad it was not my licence! Next…we await seeing how you got home again and if the Fiat has been dumped in a Paris garage for months..maybe forever??? Well done Tim to you and your wonderful partner…what will you use for the Wedding?…then you will soon need a Range Rover to carry the SHMEELITES!!!!😱😱😃😃😃😃
We will get it back home!! Whatever it takes
It was fun to spot you on the French roads this afternoon! Hope you also enjoyed the Rétromobile show this year!
Thank you and you too
This was alot of fun to watch. Discussing which car to take, Puppi being unsure if it was the right car to take, the trip itself and then said Car freaking out making it a proper Road trip. Good watch.
So glad we got to hear the conversation between you two. We always knew you were traveling together and wondered what you were talking about. It must be more enjoyable to talk to her than trying to create a conversation with just us. Thanks
This is the most puppi we have ever heard and we love it!! More please
What a great video and Shmee. Thanks for this.
it's was great seeing the little mini out, reminds me of the Italian Job charity run they do every year from Italy back to the UK.
I feel these are more reliable than we give them credit for. This one is of course, quite old and not yet too driven but I’m very happy to see it out and about as it should be and I’m sure once it’s fully done up, should be a great run about
Way more fun to watch this than the last videos on the main channel
Can’t wait to see the Clio at the nordschleife
Yes!!
yeah, that is what I been waitng for all the time too!
I’d be nervous, the Clio V6 is a sketchy little car!
Which one though? 🤣
But the 1.2 🤣
This is why you get a Panda not a 500, basically the same car. But it makes life 5× funnier knowing you are doing it in a car called a Panda
Love that logic!
I absolutely love these types of videos 🫶🏼
Thanks!
You need to find a 4 leaf clover for your road trips.
That wont help an alfa would do the same 😂
@ touché 😆
At least we already know where the service workshops are!
I would be well happy with that little 500 to buzz around British back roads on a Sunday morning. That special edition is well cool as well.
The Shmuseum Great Video I'm glad you guys made it to France safely and I hope your Fiat Abarth 500 Ferrari Dealers Edition doesn't have a serious problem
Great road trip video . I’ve done the Abarth great fun in town 👍
tim, i have an abarth as well and have the same issues with the seating position, their is a steering wheel extension you can get to extend the wheel. It helps huge
7:30 Are you sure this is a good idea 😂😂😂😂The answer is Hilarious
Puppi APPROVED she's funny. Next time allow Puppi to choose a car and prepare essentials I want to see something😂😂
Loved this vlog and the Abarth. My friend has a 500 and my sister owns a biposto so very relatable.
When I was a kid we all went on holiday in a classic Mini. Now I have a 2017 Abarth 595 Competizione which is fun to drive and a very nippy 225bhp...And a 1995 Mini Cooper which I've had since 2000 😁
Love that Abarth, despite its quirks. I had a Giulietta with some quirks of its own, but it was a part of the experience. And I miss it dearly, now driving in my miserable Corolla Hybrid.
Nice to see you slumming it for a change. More road trips in unreliable old cars with Püppi please! Box box!
Roadtrip with a tiny hot hatch is always fun.
Apart from your back
@TheShmuseum I know the feeling😅😅.
You Can always try and take off the + from the battery (red cable) and leave it of for a bit, then put it back on and the lamps will go out on the dashboard 😉
Loved this video. Puppi is amazing and love the more vlog style with you guys...
“Issue with the steering is when you use it”😂😂😂 classic fiat 500
Haha
Just had to mention the breakdown insurance but great to have
I'd always get it for an older car when travelling
More Puppi, she is fantastic😊
Puppi is such a trooper.
Winner!!
Whan an adventure.! so nice to see Tim back into small car for some driving :D
My heart was in my throat when moving it past the 1M🫣
Great having puppi in the vlog she should be on the main channel more to!
I like that the watch matches the jumper.
Nice spot
Love the episode guys! Cheers.
I like that channel much better than the main one
We don't get to see Puppi very often because she's too camera shy lol glad to see her
ohhh Puppi wears a Reverso, great choice!
Good spot ;)
Hi Tim. You should buy a classic mini, maybe a 90s one with 13 inch wheels and a Honda Vtec swap. A real fun mobile 😊
I like the sound of this!
When a girl casually refers to "scuderia stripes". Thats what I need in my life. Keeper
Seeing the road trip content is cool
As the ol saying goes, Fit It Again, Tony!
Abarths are a necessary in a super car garage. They humble you with innocent fun
Enjoyed watching this one Tim and Puppi great video , i really like these little cars and they have great burble on idle reminds me of an 80’s hot hatch like the uno turbo or Renault 5 GT Turbo with an aftermarket exhaust obviously lol hope you get it back safely look forward to the update video 👍🏼
Smoo the cow arrived safely ❤
Pleased to hear it! Thank you
Tim, just so you know, the US versions of the Abarth will throw themselves into limp mode if you try and accelerate in 5th gear, from low revs to high, without downshifting, more than twice. Don't know if that happens with the European TJet engines but something to see if you're able to replicate. Otherwise also look if it's had an aftermarket blowoff valve or GFB DV+ diverter valve installed near the turbo. Those things create random limp modes than they're worth.
Great to see Her finally on sight Tim (or is she a new g/f?) pitiful the tiny thing was giving you problems?! 😊
Nice to see Puppi in vid.
You have a great car in your collection, I have an Abarth an absolutely brilliant car to drive. So much fun and character.yours just needs a good check over for the fault you have.
Hadn’t realised how much Tim laughs like Michael McIntyre…until this video
A road trip in an older Italian car, is always an adventure.
Nice snoopy watch and jumper combo 👌
Good spotting!
Enjoyed this video.... Puppi needs to be on the channel more!
Mad respect for taking the Abarth. I would too!
It's been an eventful journey!
Leeesgooo Roadtrip time, my favorite type of content
“We’re going to Paris”
“yaaaaaay”
😂😂
I suspect it is the main ground strap under the battery tray. It takes the ground onto the gearbox and they rot out and cause mayhem. £5 part and 30 mind to fit.
It's quite likely to be the case, a lot of people have suggested this
This was fun to watch.
Nice to see also a bit of you puppy150.
Sir Shmee FLEXING the Lacoste/Charles Schulz co-effin-llab. Good shit Tim. You know the deal, Cheers.
Does Lacoste even make those still? Wasn't it the 2021 collection?
@Andy8x Yeah it's a past lineup. We never grow up
I remember my fiat's turbo failing the second day I bought it. With only 200 km on it. I loved the car and the engine, but it feels like it was built of paper
I did think for a moment Puppi was going into the 1M
If it has an old battery it will be that for sure. Had similar issues with an Alfa. Italian engineering lol
Shmee has done everything right in 2025 with this channel. Going to be big in 2025
Thanks! Glad you like it
Oh my god! You need to get some little kings
A lot more pleasant content in comparison with the main channel ❤
Pleased you enjoyed it, thank you
@ thank you for the very polite answer ❤️
I like the placement of the microphone on top of Snoopy’s head. Makes it look like he has a little top hat on.
Haha!!
Nice fiat, and looking forward to the throwback tour. Always loved the european roadtrip videos
We've got some exciting things coming
its fun to see the adventures of a supercar couple
The Fiat Pandas do this with the steering and it’s normal down to the body earth strap that’s under the battery tray. Not the battery earth.
That's one of the symptoms many people have suggested
Never a shmee road trip without chaos but I do think puppi jinxed it😂😂
It seems so!
Went to London from Germany in an 11 hour road trip in my Type R i. 2018. Barely 3 mo ths after I bought it. Scratched the left mirror in the Channel Tunnel train at one of the toilet cabins. That hurt a little. But it wasn't the last scratch of the trip.
The trip to Paris the next year was even worse.
The FK8 is a great GT car, but in big cities, it's just not at home. Mostly due to the larger turning circle.
Love the video!
All you had too do was go to Halfords in Ashford, and get them to fit a new battery. Your trip from there would have been stress free.
Or would it... stay tuned for the update
@@TheShmuseum Cannot wait for this
