    I'm thankful to see the Corps get into the Action Shooting Sports. It can only make US better. I started my son in Action Shooting when he was 9, currently he is in Baghdad with 2/7. I would like to see the Corps send Shooters to all the USPSA major events. Once a Marine always a Marine. And you can teach an Old Dog new tricks!! Semper Fi!

    Good that they finally implemented something like this in addition to the Marine Corps Shooting Team. Now we’ve got Table 1 and Table 2+ covered for Marines that want to leave their MOS to go do something else.

    Participating in competitive shooting sports helps to upgrade and hone your ability as a gunfighter. Normal qualification courses are static with timed relays to shoot a stationary target. Many of these shooting competitions are using actual self defense and police shooting situations where target identification, draw and shot timing and placement are all scored. It is a sport but at the same time it aids in stress practice of shooting skills which make you fast and accurate with time. There are various levels so newer shooters are not outgunned by experienced shooters. It is fun and educational. I shot comp in the Corps and at LAPD as well as private civilian, made me a much better shooter. Check out Bianchi Cup or IPSC shooting web sites.

      gives a beep on when to start and shows time between shots, total time and much more

      RockABilly Killa It is a professional shooting timer. The signals the shooter to engage and starts the clock. It picks up gunfire noise and after a set amount of time with no shot noise it turns off. You can review total time, time between shots etc.....to help you analyze your run to see where to improve. For instance beep to first shot time you might work on your draw and presentation.....shot to shot time will help you work on trigger control for accurate double taps etc...you can see them at Brownells or Dillon Reloading.

    I'd kill my SNCO to get in on this team haha. Never knew the Marine Corps ran a Practical shooting team. Thought only the Army did. I've been competitive shooting since 05

    All marines are marksman.
    They are all good shooters.
    Did all Marines receive this kind of training?

    I'm just wondering if that is supposed to be hard. I shoot rifles frequently and can do that easily. What makes it hard? Is running and shooting tougher than you would expect?

    WTF Marines! What do you mean? This kinda of shooting is supposed to be Corps wide! Why are they still making Marines shoot from static known range positions? SMH

    • @BarracksSi
      @BarracksSi 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      KD ranges are meant for working on the fundamentals of simply shooting straight -- sight alignment, sight picture, bone support, slow steady squeeze -- and learning how to trust the weapon itself. They're also easier to score and safer to manage when you've got a hundred shooters to qual in a week's time. When individual Marines get the basics figured out, they'll also be more successful in a combat-style course like this. Remember, these guys got trained at KD, too.

    • @lordapophis5723
      @lordapophis5723 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BarracksSi Yes, i know. But I would think after boot camp, Marines would be doing SWAT style shoot houses to practice their combat marksmanship skills. If I were the Commandant, every Marine would get this training.

    • @BarracksSi
      @BarracksSi 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, and although I'm about as POG as you can get (5512), I was giving feedback at the end of MCT asking for more MOUT training, which I heard they implemented not long afterwards. There are some things I wish I had the opportunity to learn.
