@@TJH2000 wow, forgot I wrote that comment. But yes, i did leave may17 2015 to Paris island. I winded up being sent to 2/8 and bounced around companies as a rifleman. Let me get this out the way, 10/10 times if I were to go back in time and decide to do it again I would. But those 4 years were some of the worst, not because of what I did but why I did it. The failure of leadership is commonplace in every company i went to. I've seen over 5 different company commanders and there all trash who couldt really give a fuck about anybody but there career making us suffer because of it. Security forces being sent to an infantry unit, is the most ridiculous concept to be conceived but is what I expect from the marine corps. An idea nobody cares to change or to look into, but keep accepting the trash that flows in year after year is a very similar concept used not only on security forces, or the boot 18 year olds, but it should be the new usmc motto. Nobody cares about anything, and those who do just fake it better than the rest. The fact that POGs love their lives and get treated better has always been beyond me. There chow hall is better, how the fuck do they have a better chow halls? Who in there right mind did this to us? It isnt a little better, its like 10 times better. We all go in with high Hope's and wanting to prove ourselves, but as time gradually and I mean extremely slowly pass you begin to stop trying to prove yourself and you start looking around and questing all the unresolved problems. That not even your sqd leader really look out for you because there too afraid to loose there spot even when they know what the right thing is to do. What kind of marine is that? Not standing up for the right thing to do even if your dumb fuck retarded LT says otherwise. Theres a reason why once a 2nd LT gets promoted to 1st LT they stop trying so hard to change there plt and boots for the better and just focus on there own career. It's a loosing battle with a bunch of varied toxic mindsets. The only way you fix the marine corps is to gut the whole institution, and change the standards at boot and SOI. Because those 2 are literally assembly lines, they just try to cycle you in and out as fast a possible. They dont make you into anything, your just a commodity being processed instead of a trained warrior. If I can leave anybody with 1 sentence of the marine corp corps it would be this, it's a joke. Coming from someone who spent there first year or 2 wanting to make a differnce and didt want to be anywhere else but training and making myself better. Anybody who says anything of a higher regard about the Marine corps, is someone who hasn't seen the real marine corps, or was just an ass kisser who sucked his way to the top. Which btw, is more people than I would have thought. Grown ass man with a "warrior" mindset sucking dick to get ahead. Another thing, being called a fucking warrior by your chain of command but also needs to be patted down to ensure I dont have any live ammunition is just degrading. I always put those Libo rounds in my ifac, nobody ever checks the ifac.
They get provided their own rifle. Usually you should be issued an M4 or an M16. The pistol is usually only for higher ranked enlisted and officers. Pistols are M9. You don't get to keep your weapon when on leave or when you are retired. You don't even get to have it unless you're on patrol or on a mission. You also are provided a different rifle on arrival to a different base (Same Kind of rifle, different serial).
