Varys knew his testimony wouldn't make a difference in what ends up happening to Tyrion. Also, as a member of the small council, he has to keep up *appearances* of loyalty, lest they start to doubt him. He was acting strategically, as he always does. He protects his own position not out of selfishness, but because he's determined to do the most good for the people as long as he can. In this case, a friend and ally was drowning, but he couldn't save Tyrion this time, just like he couldn't save Ned Stark in season 1. Not without jeopardizing his work. He will only risk his life and position if it's in service to putting (who he feels is) the best person on the throne.

No one knows what Arya looks like. Even if she was spotted with the Hound, no one would know it's her. Recall the guards at Kingslanding mistook her for a boy.

We live in a world with an abundance if imagery: on TV, in the movies, in newspapers and magazines. We're so used to seeing photos and videos of royalty and other celebrities that it's sometimes difficult to consider that most of human history was completely different. In medieval times there was almost no news about anything from outside your own village, let alone that you were able to find out what someone you didn't know looked like.
So indeed, no one knows what Arya looks like. There weren't any photographs of her, likely not even a painting (do those even exist in the world of Game of Thrones?).

What i find impressive about Peter Dinklage who plays Tyrion is that he naturally has this quite strong American accent yet his 'English' accent as Tyrion is sooo good! I'm English and just can't fault it, it's perfect.

I totally agree with Lips’s point on Theon. WHY would someone care about him after what he’s done? Its not like I’m happy about the torture, I just don’t care.

When Ramsay pretended to free Theon and then brought him back to be tortured more, he was teaching him not to trust rescues, which is why he doesnt go with Yara.

@@LippsReacts Theon/Reek chapters in the books are the worst to me. Since the chapters have pov of the characters the reader gets access to their thoughts/feelings. The change between Theon and Reek's thoughts really take it all to another level and it's heartbreaking to me. Especially this scene.

  • @RuthMonteroCueva

It’s funny how you are empathizing with Shay in this. I think she’s really just a manipulative person trying to watch her own back at all instances.

    • @LippsReacts

i think the look of hurt on her face when tyrion told her she was nothing but a wh*re dismantles that for me. She was truly hurt there and then was put in a space of choosing her life over death. If tyrion hadn't said that I don't think she would have turne don him like that.

@@LippsReacts I have watched the show many times through but this switch of Shae never really worked for me, maybe it is different in the books, but her changing sides so drastically feels very strange even on repeat. I get the idea of jealousy and all but still.

Honestly I get your coldness for Theon. I appreciate his character way more now and can connect with it more now for sure since I love the show, but I remember not really giving a crap about him my first watch too. There were other character arcs I wasn’t super attached to either, like Shae, Ross, and Ygritte… some of which I looove now. It’ll probably change over time 😊

    • @zachharris3040

I mean out of anyone from the pilot, he has the biggest dilemma next to Ned’s. He gets treated like the help and so has fooled himself into thinking this is his family. I don’t really believe the Starks loved him. They treated him with some respect but there was always a distance. And his family gaslights him into thinking he’s a traitor. It’s wild that people don’t sympathize with him more.

@@zachharris3040 facts. Now I’m like ugh I totally get where he’s coming from. He has no sense of belonging or meaning and just wants to find some purpose, but the lack of support and validation caused him to confuse his intuition with pride for a bit, and then he almost allowed (I say that lightly cus obvsly ppl don’t really choose abuse) himself to stay punished, fully believing he deserves it, even with the Stockholm syndrome. He was morally conflicted due to the abuses he endured by both sides.

  • @525569andrea

Shae’s downfall was always going to be her jealousy, which always blinded her. She fully believed Tyrion wanted Sansa and was plenty insecure about it, which we saw time and time again. She fully believed what Tyrion said to her when he broke up with her. He said he needed to act right by his wife, and that he won’t be with her he uses if what she is.
