  • Part # 82 of the MF135 restoration is setting the front toe in on the front axle or doing a wheel alignment.
    Hello Im Lance (aka Bundy Bear) and doing these videos is my hobby. I do own Queensland Tractor Spares in Australia where I sell parts and offer technical advise to customers.
    Parts seen in our videos can be purchased from www.queenslandtractorspares.co...
    We have a lot more than we can offer on our web site available to us and in our store. If you dont see what you would like please email info@queenslandtractorspares.com.au and we will help where we can.
    I do try and help with technical advise at bundybearsshed@gmail.com if you have a question or are having trouble with your project.

    I really like this technique and will use it for my tractors. The process is consistent and repeatable with sufficient accuracy. Thanks!

  • @malcolmtill
    @malcolmtill 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You're correct Lance. Toe in too much wears the outside of the tread and toe out too much wears the inside of the tread. Also makes the steering feel odd if it's wrong.

    That tractor looks amazing, is it much work involved to paint everything? i have a 1979 mf 590 wich is in desperate need of a paint job. do you media blast stuff or go over with an wire wheel to remove rust and flaked paint?

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      G Day Leroy, The parts I have off in often blast but the main chassis is a wire wheel on an angle grinder and some scotch brite pads.

    Lance - great channel, and excellent series on the MF135 - I've just bought a 1966/67 way up here in Canada and she needs new front tires. I've taken a shining to the ones you've got mounted up on this old girl, but for the life of me I haven't been able to find them. What are they, and where did you source them?

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Welcome aboard! I got them from Bareco here in Australia as a wheel and tyre set. I use them often.

    Hi Lance. I have been trying to adjust my TEF but even when I shorten both sides as short as they will go, they are still very slightly toe out. Does this mean that there's a problem somewhere else?

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may be out a tooth in the steering box that may be worth a look. Usually there isnt a problem. I wonder has someone fitted 35 rods they are a little longer.

    Hi Lance, I bought a 135 last summer.
    When i drove it home on the blacktop road, as i got up to speed it started shaking like the devil..!! Both front wheels shimmied back and forth. I watched it as i drove. Slowed down to stop it, then sped it up again. I thought worn tie rod ends, but looking at the steering gear there was alot of FLEX in the steering box where the tie rods attached.. Is the gear box worn out? Or need adjusting maybe?
    Its a 1965 model. Gas.
    Thanks! Someone said it might just need the tow in adjusted, but it was terrible..!!

      G Day Steve, I did a video on the 135 steering box and it all adds every little bit of slop adds up to wobbles.

    Are those tie down eyes on the front axle stainless?

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes they are to tie it onto my trailer to go to shows etc, they are marine grade 316 Stainless Steel. I have 1 set of 4 chains that does all of my tractors, makes it quick and easy.

    Loving the playlist. I have a 1984 MF 250 with just under 5000hrs on the clock. It's blowing out of the oil filler and dripping oil from the dipstick. It runs for a while (hour or so) then stalls and won't start for about 30 mins. I've recently replaced the lift pump and cleaned out the tank/fuel lines/filters etc. I think it has worn piston rings (the power seems down) and I've just obtained a compression testing kit which I haven't used yet.
    How easy is it to replace the liners/rings in situ? What steps would you take? Cheers.

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Easy enough job to do. On the current MF65 series I should get the liner pulling video out this week some time. Even though my engine is out of the tractor it can be done in the tractor still.

    • @richyphillips
      @richyphillips 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BundyBearsShed do I need to remove the front of the tractor to take the oil pan off in order to take the pistons out?

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richyphillips yes or at least move it forward a bit to clear the sump.

    • @richyphillips
      @richyphillips 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've got the head off. Lots of soot on the valve gear and a piece of the head gasket is missing between cylinder 1 and 2. I'm thinking I might just as well go ahead and re-build with new bearings, linings and rings anyway, it's done 4700hrs. What do you think?

      I stuffed up the paint on the bonnet and have been dodging it ever since but I should get into it. i need to weld new ends onto the linkage arms as well so still a work in progress. I have too much on the go at times but I like to keep busy.

    He should just get the measurement from the tire tread side to side

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not as accurate as going on the rim as with older tyres they can wear uneven left to right. Rime will be spot on.

    It would appear that there is some play in the steering. At 10:23 you move the left wheel with your foot and again at 16:12 and the right wheel does not move. I notice this several times during the video, when you use the wheel to pull yourself up off the floor.

    • @BundyBearsShed

      I replayed them and if there is its hard to see, the box is very tight there is a video on doing that up, the only movement is normal backlash. All threads were still loose here though. Feels good. anyway we will know soon enough when we get it on the road flat out.
