Andy had no idea this would be one of the only documents of MLB, he was just doing his thing thinking it was a building block for things to come. I hate that he didn’t get the recognition he deserved.

Here in Seattle, these guys were hometown hero's... way before Eddie Vedder made an appearance after Andy died. That was one sad dark day.... the day some of the music died... we miss you Andy.

I think mother bone would have been better then pj. Eddies a great singer no doubt however he's such a poser saying he's part native American wearing a fugazi shrit at shows trying to suck up to the punk rock crowd instead of being thanful he was in a great band. I like Andy wood so much better so sad he had to die what could have been!!!!

W o W. It's interesting that there are people (on You Tube nontheless) who were really fans of MLBone in Seattle old enuff to rember, and also who don't care about how cool or uncool it is to have loved them back then!!! Even here in the Bay Area, Andy Wood's death was a Heavy Thing and it seemed to hang around for a while, the depression that is. Honestly, I was still like a hesher-thrash-guy back then, but I found something so great in MLBone that i didn't care how "GLam" or whatever they were considerd by some...MIss You Andy, Miss you Chris....

      PABLO!
I first caught you/SGM live at MLB’s 1990 Legends show in Tacoma and had my mind blown by your set. Unfortunately, the crowd wasn’t as hyped for MLB as they’d been for SGM. I’d never heard of you guys before that night, but was so impressed by the rock that I immediately headed to the U-District and hunted down the 3-track cassette demo you had in the shops at the time, and it stayed in my rotation for the rest of the year, right alongside all the rest of the great local music that came out after Andy passed. I was just 20 at the time and couldn’t get into the clubs, but, I’d caught MLB at Bumbershoot the previous summer and decided they were my favourite local band. But, I had to give it some serious reconsideration after that night at Legends. You guys did an incredibly inspiring set that I still think about to this day.

Backstage, VIP,,,I worked in The Music industry at that time and spent most of the early evening drinking in THE CLOUD ROOM meeting A&R from different labels. AIC wasn't even signed yet.
So Lucky I was there for all this! LANDREW was such a good Frontman.

I was at that Janes Addiction show. It was a KISW "Rising Stars" show and it was some ludicrously low cost of like $5 dollars or something like that and yes what a line up it was. JA filmed the Gift in and around that show. Would love to hear and share some more reminiscing about those good ole days as those days in the 80's and early 90's were a time to be had for certain.

@@martinsane I believe you are talking about Soul Kiss. A Jane's video. Yes, that was filmed backstage and some of my stupid coworkers can be seen asking dumb questions. You can actually hear me laughing at the beginning. I was busy helping Mr. Navarro get a cup of coffee. He was pretty messed up. He also handed his leather jacket to me for some reason. I did what he asked and looked after it. As their manager was scooting them out of the room I had a decision to make. I called out to Dave and gave him his coat and he kissed me on the cheek. A couple weeks later I saw a pic of him in Kerrang wearing that jacket. I made the right decision.

Jesus.... I love this but it made me nostalgic and so sad to watch it. We all know the ending to the story. Andrew Wood was fantastic. Apple is a classic rock album. He was so fully 'realized' at that point, his style, his swag, his lyrics.... a real unique talent and a bad ass in his own right. Thank you to whoever posted this, I think he was going to be a one and done with this band, and that's fine, because it was a hell of a one. Would love to have seen what the Stardog would have done in his career...... but we all know the ending to this very short story. RIP Andy... and Kurt... and Layne... and Chris... WTAF happened to that scene??? It beggars belief.

Wish I had been old enough to have caught Mother Love Bone Live. I discovered Andy when I bought the singles soundtrack in summer ‘92. Chloe Dancer was instantly my favorite song and I had to search record shops and early internet to learn about Andrews life and music. Luckily my friend had prodigy. From there I was able to learn about Malfunkshun and record stores in Seattle that I could order from. Clipping articles from magazines. Dude was so free and charming. He was everything I wanted to be. It’s tragic that Andy’s life was cut short before he achieved the success he was destined for. That’s the impact his music had on me. The world lost some killer records when Andy left for Olympus, how much we’ll never know. The future of Rock music died with him. RIP

I was 17 when Singles came out. That is where I discovered Mother Love Bone as well. This was before the internet caught on so I don't think many people outside of Washington knew who Mother Love Bone was. Heck it wasn't until years later that I put the entire thing together and realized that most of Pearl Jam was Mother Love Bone. I know many people hate on Eddie, but I think Andy would have been happy with the direction the band went and that they finally got to play stadium shows.

As someone who grew up on the seattle produced grunge, I am only now, as a 45 year old coming to the realization of how special Andy was. It's fucking hard, and has made me cry a lot...because I realize. I am a musician. I appreciate it all...but he was not nearly appreciated enough. All the "big" bands got their due, but I think they knew, and as true fans realize in time, that Andy was the architect. I get it now. Man do I get it. His songs hit now, to me, today, more than most of my beloved 90's "grunge" seattle bands. I wish I could have seen what you would have become Andy, as it stands though, in your short time, you left a pretty everlasting legacy!

Makes you wonder what could have been had he not passed... I would've loved to see them drop the "glam" just a little and maybe released something sounding a bit like what ended up being Pearl Jam's first record, by the way, "Alive" was a song originally intended for MLB (originally named Dollar short at the time) After Andy's death Stone kept working on it till it finally ended up as part of "Ten''

I'm going with my source, who's actually written a book on Andrew Wood based on extensive research and personal interviews, including with ex-MLB'rs. She's actually heard the show in question, and, if I remember her e-mail correctly, says it was from Portland. Which, would've been 3 May, 1989. I'll see if I still have the e-mail in question, and will let you know if I find that particular passage. But, she's definitely heard it herself.
