    Hey guys Joey here, just gonna leave my thoughts on this video. I like this video because I think it draws a line in the sand for two types of people, people who are already satisfied with existing tone creation methods ($1500 amp, $350 cab, mixing techniques, etc) and then people who want tone to evolve into something not possible with those setups. If you prefer the plugin, you are likely someone looking for tone to evolve. If you prefer the album tone in this example, there’s great stuff out there that can get you that sound. Toneforge has NEVER attempted to replace hardware nor emulate it. We are just here to help tone evolve.

      I'm all for innovation honestly. It ends up being more practical in all senses if I can record at 4am in my bedroom as loud as I can (with headphones) instead of either having to make some sort of box to mic in or have to have a separate room to record with real amps. Also the investment in the plugins + DAW is far less than a regular amp + cab

      @jaycielle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm actually surprised to read this (although now you say it, it's very believable) because Jeff's biggest influence on me was certainly his riff writing and his articulation on playing them - how he uses accents and mutes to make riffs dynamic even when they're straight rhythms made a permanent change to how I write and perform metal rhythm parts
      That may also be because I'm a bassist first, so all of his lead playing was a thousand leagues above what I could do 😂

    • @aaronsmith6613
      @aaronsmith6613 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      In Pro Tools, if you insert certain amp sims on a stereo track as a "multichannel" insert, I've found that it will only "listen" to the left track for some reason, and represent it for you in mono (as in, the left channel alone and panned center). That's what this plug-in was doing as well, but if you instead choose "multi-mono", it treats it properly and processes each channel independently, hard panned, as if there are two amps running. It's definitely not playing back in mono.

    the real amp takes have recordings of some room ambience, coming together to make what sounds like a chorus effect when you listen to the sound in mono. the software version doesnt have that so it sounds like only 2 tracks instead of 4. which is better? depends on how dry of a sound you want. but this really shows how important speakers are to shaping a guitar tone
