I finally bought my Dream Camera (What's in my Camera Bag)

  • Just a quick video about what's in my camera bag.
    I’ve been hoping to one day own a Leica for many years.
    When the opportunity to buy one popped up I jumped on it. The Q3 simply checks too many boxes for me to pass up the opportunity to own one.

    The mere mention of Leica brings out the idiot parade. Every single time. It's so boring and tiresome.

    No, you can't say it's better. Image "quality " is subjective. Like some people like lomo cameras or old lenses with imperfections. But you can say now you have a Leica, meh.

      Not really sure what the point of this comment is. I never said the image quality is better than anything else.

    I like the bag. I need to find a new everyday carry bag. It's a struggle!

      Thanks! Yes, picking out bags is rough. I’ve collected quite a few over the years myself looking for the “one”.

    Near the quality of a GFX??? Can I have what you are smoking?

    • @sethpotterphoto
      @sethpotterphoto  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ha! Not smoking anything, download some sample raw files from a 50r or 50sii and a Leica q3. It’s my genuine opinion that the image quality is incredibly close. So close that I may just sell my GFX.

    Whoa, I just looked up the Q3... $6,000 for a fixed-lens camera?! Is it really worth double the price compared to something like a 61MP Sony A7CR (which is smaller/lighter and has over 200 E-mount lenses you can use)?

    • @lomelyo
      @lomelyo 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No. It's not worth it. The camera isn't even that great. Is just the cost of low volume hand made stuff.

    • @katlis
      @katlis 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lomelyo I figured. And being low volume & hand-made, I can only assume if something breaks, you're waiting weeks or months to get a repair or replacement. Wild.

      it costs much for sure. i would buy it only if i had deep pockets. but leica has some kind of pop in their pictures. and regarding the fixed lense. sometimes simplicity just wins. and overall the size for a camera with such a sensor is unbeaten! cheers

    • @sethpotterphoto

      Honestly, I don’t enjoy Sony cameras. They just don’t jive with me. I like old school stuff. Plus I’ve tried almost every other fixed lens compact camera on the market from the Ricoh griii to the Fuji X100V and I can confidently say that the build quality and image quality of the Leica Q3 is far superior to those cameras.
      I adored my Ricoh griii but when dust got on the sensor and the scroll wheel died on me that’s when my love for that camera died too. As far as the Fuji I still own an x100v and won’t be parting with it anytime soon but man I wish the x100 had a 28mm lens. I know they make a conversion lens and I tried it. Didn’t like it. Threw the balance and look of the camera off completely.
      Fixed lens cameras shouldn’t be compared to interchangeable lens cameras. It’s simply a different design philosophy and philosophy of use. Just my opinion on that matter.
      Be honest here, there may be 200 lenses available but are you seriously going to buy or try them all? Most photographers I know just buy a handful of lenses.
      I know that Leica is a controversial company because of their extreme prices but there simply is no other camera on the market like this one.
      Ya, sure you can throw a wide angle lens on a 60 megapixel sony but it’s just not the same. Besides once you’ve thrown any lens on that A7CR suddenly it’s not much smaller and lighter anymore.
      Besides I don’t plan to ever purchase another digital leica. There’s a story behind why I bought this camera but I don’t feel like airing it out in the comments section of this video.
      Just know that for me there was nothing else. Any other camera purchase would’ve simply been a place holder for this camera to Me.
      I hope that explains my viewpoint on the matter.
      Anyway thanks for the comment!

      Good thing manufacturers design cheaper optics to be able to correct throughh software to save the consumer money! (Leica is truly a budget camera company /s)

    • @sethpotterphoto
      @sethpotterphoto  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@adamhayek7889 ha! Love the sarcasm. Hopefully you’re aware that tons of modern lenses from many manufacturers are corrected via software in one way or another. Especially mirrorless lenses. Not to mention the fact that digital photography wouldn’t exist at all if not for . . . Software.

    • @adamhayek7889
      @adamhayek7889 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sethpotterphoto Yes im very aware of that

    • @sethpotterphoto
      @sethpotterphoto  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@adamhayek7889 Good! I suppose we can blame mirrorless for enabling lens designers to get away with more distortion or other “imperfections”in lenses these days. With DSLR and film SLR cameras you’re looking directly through the lens so you’d be extremely aware of distortion and other imperfections. But with mirrorless there’s a computer between your eye and the lens, actively working to correct those issues.
      I also wonder, since this lens was designed with software correction in mind, is it really necessary to worry about the software corrected distortion?
      I guess I mean the software is just as much part of the lens as the aspherical elements or an aperture blade are. Would you judge a lens with either of those components missing or removed?
      Just food for thought.
