Buddy I just think you saved me over $400 (dealer priced service charge). I got a 2021 corolla hybrid and just yesterday I wondered what the hell that compartment was below my seat. Out of curiosity I looked this up and man I knew it was simple. I honestly thought maybe this was tucked under the vehicle somewhere hard to locate. Wow.

The 2024 corolla hybrid has no screw. The other side of the seat has a cap that’s removable as well I popped both out and only one had the filter. Anyone know what the slot is for on the passenger side in under the back seat for the 2024 Corolla
    Hybrid Thanks.

Never clean those filter, always replace them. Especially the cabin filters. If you just clean it you can leave some bacteria and stuff behind then mold can grow etc. Just replace them.
Btw, besides an oil change THIS is the upmost important maintanance for those cars. Dirty filters will destroy your battery, a replacement costs about 3k.

@@LadooCrew They can be tricky, the same pressure you need to apply to get it to turn works against you,iI always try a different screwdriver if it doesn’t fit correctly you have to push too hard and then it just spins and won’t back out.

Thank God for AMD! I own a 2019 Prius which is exactly like your Corolla. I vacuum mine out yearly. I may replace 6+years depending on it's shape. I have 20,000 miles on mine. Isn't it a shame there's not a nut u can loosen on the squirrel cage? I'd remove that & vacuum out. Nice to see other's, like you, take pride in their Toyotas. I sub'd & gave you a 👍.

Thank you very much! I had no idea about fan filtering until recently by watching videos on You Tube and my Toyota dealer has never said anything about this important maintenance issue! I’m pleased that Toyota has made the ‘21 Corolla’s fan filter very easy to remove and clean or replace, but I’m disappointed that this issue has never been publicly addressed by Toyota in the first place resulting in numerous battery failures. I will immediately contact my dealer to inquire about what they have or have not done to my Corolla and Prius V fan filtering systems in the past. They have never said anything about this to me before.
Older Prius’s didn’t even have fan filtering and the fan motors got horribly clogged with dirt and dust causing numerous early battery failures. Bad Toyota!

I agree that Toyota really doesn’t give you any information about the hybrid system and how to keep it working efficiently as possible.

There is one thing wrong here, you should use a vacuum to suck the dirt out, not use a fan to blow the dirt in deeper. That's how to clean the hybrid battery fan filter mentioned by Toyota manual.

Is there an external one you can get for these? I was able to get one for my 2015 from a Toyota dealer. Although these look 1) a lot easier to get to and 2) I don't think the Prius has a filter, just a fan. Did I mention I haven't put the Prius filter on yet? I like using a vacuum for cleaning filters. Seems a bit gentler that compressed air, and I use a nozzle with a brush.

I’m not aware of anything other than what it came with. It does look like a very flimsy filter to me. I’ll be doing my 30 K service in the next week or two I’m gonna do it by the book. Local dealer is backed up for months and last time they serviced it well I had to beat the tires off it six months later ,The aluminum wheels were corroded on to the brake rotors, so I know they werent rotating the tires,What good is Toyota care if they’re not actually doing the work. I would’ve done it myself if I known so now I don’t trust the dealer. I know they did The oil changes because the oil was clean afterward.

As long as your not actually fully blocking the inlet your fine . The issue is with ppl being careless with jackets, groceries and junk just throwing it back there . Keep that inlet area and filter clean and your battery will last a long time.
