Just had a total hysterectomy on Thursday so found this very useful. Thank you. Wasn’t really given any aftercare advice so learning as I go!

Thank you so much for this video and your others on recovering from a hysterectomy! I watched this video before my robotic surgery and remembered the breathing exercise so I did that a bit the first and second week along with the pump they give you in the hospital. I didn't want to do any pelvic floor exercises yet though my body wanted to (along with my usual abdominal holds I do without thinking). I concentrated on not doing that and trying to relax and allow the area to heal.
Today is my 4th week in recovery and my main concern is my bladder and pelvic floor. I wasn't released the day of my surgery because I couldn't urinate. I had to stay over until the following evening during which I had to have an "in/out" catheter twice along with fluids, constant walking, peeing and measuring to get sent home without a cather! As of today I'm feeling some tenderness and discomfort in the bladder area and (perhaps due to driving too soon) I feel some odd and uncomfortable "release" in my pelvic floor when I stand up from a sitting position. SO I came back to your video to make sure I can now start specific exercises to strengthen and support that area to ensure proper bladder/bowel function, sexual health and all the benefits of a healthy pelvic floor!

Hi! I’m a month into my recovery. I wish I had found you prior my surgery. I’m trying to stay positive, but this was a lot harder than I thought it would be. For me it’s the urinary incontinence. I can’t seem to stop leaking. Just walking or standing. Not sure what to do.

I had my pelvic floor removed and I've gained 50 lbs in the 4.5 years since my surgery. I'm not sure what else to do

Thank you for watching! I have some other videos about connecting to your pelvic floor using diaphragmatic breathing. Also, many people find this program helpful when you are cleared by your doctor to start recovering the pelvic floor and core exercises safely: level4pt.mykajabi.com/hysterectomy-success

This is so helpful. You are awesome! How long after robotic hysterectomy I should do kigle exercise (tight and release)? I had hysterectomy (keeping ovaries)

Starting exercises is best after getting clearance from your doctor, Diaphragmatic breathing is safe and good to do early on though. See one of my other videos. Thank you!
