  • Bad Cat Black Cat Extension Cabinet 1x12 & How to Connect Them Correctly! Often an Over-looked Topic, But Ignoring Correct Procedures May at Best Reduce Audio Quality & Worst, Damage Your Expensive Gear! For a review on the Black Cat Amplifier - • UB:26 Bad Cat Black Ca...
In this video, I not only look at the Bad Cat Black Cat extension cabinet, but illustrate the correct way an extension cabinet needs to be paired with a combination amplifier. An important topic to avoid damage to both amplifier and speakers. It's also important to understand that their is a big difference between guitar cables and speaker cables. Always use a dedicated speaker cable to join your amp and speaker together. Just like the previous Bad Cat Black Cat 1x12 combination amplifier I previously reviewed, the ‘Extension Cabinet’ is constructed of Baltic Birch and finished in black textured vinyl and features that really nice vintage ‘look’ golden grill cloth. Weighing in at around 34lbs (15.4 Kilo) it’s no lightweight, but it’s certainly made easier to carry with the same style of carrying handle as supplied on the combination amplifier. An open back design reveals the Custom made V30 8 Ohm speaker made for Bad Cat by Celestion.
What I personally like about the extension cabinet is that, I have the amplifier (with the internal speaker disconnected) sitting by my mixing console while the cabinet is in the sound booth. I have both - the option of just using the combo amplifier on it’s own, and or using both as a mini-stack where I need more presence - such as playing alongside a drum kit and other instruments. The cabinets are very well made, nicely finished, speakers have a tight deep tone - just a really good pairing with the way the Bad Cat amplifiers work. It’s supplied with a good quality protective cover. One thing you will require is a good quality speaker cable and I also illustrate a little castor board that helps to cabinets and amplifiers without breaking your back. All-in-all - The cabinets certainly look very nice together… Enjoy!

Hi Amin - many thanks... a Red Telecaster eh... I must admit I do like the Candy Apple Red Fender does, although it can be quite difficult to get a hold of one those. Is that the model of guitar you would like to own? regards: Stu

Smoking amps. Funny story. Thanks for sharing the story. Thanks for the Bad Cat review. I don't have much experience with amps. Peavey, Marshall, Fender, Mesa Boogie, and Orange are amps I have enjoyed. I just stayed with Fender though. I didn't even know about Bad Cat till I saw it on your channel, and though tone is hard to transfer across WWW (I just have small USB speakers, with no tone), it sounded nice.

Hi Jasper - Yes, amplifiers and speaker types can be difficult to feel at home with as their are so many things that give each product it's own tone or vibe. It was while looking for a Matchless Amp (A boutique Model) that I came across Bad Cat (There is connected history with those companies) and after trying one out (not many around in the UK) it was what I was looking for. It had it all, beautiful cleans, smooth valve crunch, overdrive on tap, very good digital reverb and controllable volume for home, studio or live work. Only downside so far... I need someone else to carry it for me cause my back is not what it used to be... ;-) regards: Stu

Btw there are castors that don't involve putting a 5/8" hole through the bottom baffle. They're just installed by four corner screws, so you can't slip them on and off, but if removed there are only small holes left behind. Parts Express has a lot of caster options. Caster? Castor?

Hi Craig - thanks for chipping in... that 'Parts Express' sure has a lot of choices available for those in the USA. We do have 2 or 3 outlets in the UK with some okay choices if anyone is looking for castors. Regards: Stu
