  • Ibanez M300C Moulded Hard shell ABS Guitar Case with Aluminium Edging, Fits Most Ibanez Guitars Including the 'RG', 'RGA', 'RGD', 'RG7', S, 'S7' and 'SA' except for 27” Scale and Left-Handed Models.

The M300C Ibanez guitar case has an ABS formed exterior and the Ibanez logo embossed on each of the case faces. The textured surface of the case exterior is very noticeable and the two case lids are finished off with aluminium edging. The interior has that typical soft, plush material you find in most good guitar cases and comes in an attractive deep blue colour. There is an American TSA locking centre latch fitted and while it does work, in this test with this particular case, key operation was a bit fiddly at times. I purchased the case for the S Series Premium Guitar model, noted for it's extremely thin body. Due to the very poor cheap gig bag that came with the Ibanez guitar, something I found a little disappointing from Ibanez as the 'Premium S Series S1070PBZ' was certainly not inexpensive. In regard to the thin body of that guitar type, as suspected, there is a little bit of back and forth movement within the case (only slight) but easily rectified by placing a soft cloth on top of the S Series body before closing the lid. In regard to the more standard Ibanez guitars listed above there should be no movement at all. I also answer a number of small complaints I have read on-line and clearly illustrate that I found no basis for those complaints other than the fiddly TSA Lock which I personally have no need of. I hope this is a helpful video for those looking to purchase one of these cases... Enjoy!

Hi Mike... thanks for chipping in. Yes, I decided to make the video because I couldn't find a decent overview when looking for one myself. I thought it might help folks out particularly when you get conflicting reviews on forums. Regards: Stu

Hi Mike - Glad to be of help, I trust you will be happy with your choice. Do let me and others who might be interested know what your own thoughts are once you have it. Just a wee reminder, don’t lock your guitar inside the case until you have made sure the lock mechanism is working as it should. Mine is fine but a little finicky, whereby I need to go easy on it otherwise damage could result if treated harshly. Regards: Stu

Hey Stu, great content! Would you consider this case the safest option for S series? I also got an S guitar a few days ago and I am searching for a case. My only concern is the movement inside as I will probably need to carry it on a flight at some moment later.

Hi Flying Turkey (Lol - love the name) - I'm not sure what more I could add regarding that video. If you want to stay with the Ibanez branded case, either out of - you have a fondness for that brand or it may give an edge to later re-sale, then that alone is worth considering. The S series as you can see in the video does not move very much and it is a snug fit. The only area of movement (due to the thin body) is easily resolved by placing a cloth on top of the guitar. Items kept in the case compartments are sealed when the case is closed, but I would keep small items within an appropriate container and then placed in the case compartments.
As for flying... are you in the USA? I am in the UK... When working in the USA (Film production unit) we had to store large items in the hold on the smaller aircraft so I'm not sure what you will need to deal with there. Some might argue that a high quality padded soft guitar case is better for travelling on the actual aircraft. Trying to get information from your local carrier might give you some pointers as the best way to deal with these challanges. As with many of these polycarbonate hard shell cases, the weak area is the actual case surfaces where the material can be depressed so if something very heavy is placed on the centre of those cases then that could cause damage - thinking of the aircrafts hold. You can get heavier profile flight cases but your weight will increase.
I did a video on cases you might want to look at - th-cam.com/video/JETnzwul4n0/w-d-xo.html
In regard to the M300C, it's a case that will suit your guitar well and keep it protected in general use. I hope that helps, in regard to regular flying with a guitar, you might need a different approach. Best regards: Stu
