Watching her do this definitely tells me why the glass formed one was 50K. Like omg the time it took for her to use acrylic probably took longer with glass forming those chains.
so for the sweater vest, if anyone else want's to do it make sure you use a zig-zag stitch. It's stretchy and should always be used with stretch fabrics, it can also help stop fraying
Thank you so much for this advice! I was thinking that was the case, because I’ve been researching how to turn old sweaters into sweater vests and skirts, and it was clear I was supposed to use a zig zag stitch, but I didn’t know the reasoning behind it until your comment. :)
This should be in the "that cost how muuuuch?!" series because it would win. I'm sure the original creator is such an artisan and I'm all for supporting art but this is a really cool and much more attainable dupe.

The DYI gods WERE on your side!!!! This is STUNNING and so so similar! Loved this one ❤️
From the thumbnail I thought you just found fancy shower curtain rings and hooked them together, but the fact that you dyed and bended them yourself just made this chandelier so much more special!!! The only thing I would do differently is adjust the way the links come together at the ceiling, in some places it looks a little messy, but overall you really nailed it!!!! You did a fantastic job!
I definitely do not have the same taste in style as Rachel but the amount of happiness she gets from both the sweater vest and the light turning out how she wanted, I love 😊❤️ I know that feeling and can enjoy it with her, she has such a great personality that the warmth comes through on camera 👍
First, what a great segment! Second, I’m old and have no idea who Emma Chamberlain is or why such a silly light is cool, but you rocked it! I loved watching the dyeing and bending of the acrylic. Third, what you pulled off with the sweater vest was amazing. You are talented in so many areas! Lastly, the fact that your bangs were not in your eyelashes gave me great joy. 😊
The chandelier isn't my aesthetic but I appreciate the craftsmanship and effort. The chain itself looks amazing. I love the color! You did good, Rachael! Way to go! Love your energy and quirkiness ✨️
The patience you had while creating the chain links was inspiring to watch! But, that's how great things take time to create! And the chandelier turned out amazing! I love it!
This is super cool! Would love to see a more… “from stuff at your local hardware store/stuff at home” diy for us who don’t have a whole workshop at our disposal 😅
This lamp reminds me of the stained glass lamps of the 1960s and early 70s with the chainlink covering the cord .Instead of the lamp shade being stained glass the chained links are colored .I'm impressed with the time effort that was put in to the project.
I watched Emma Chamberlain’s house tour and I loved the chandelier! It’s beautiful. Girl! You did it! It’s so beautiful! I’m amazed at the quality, not that you don’t do quality work but I really was skeptical! But it turned out amazing! Great work! Oh my gosh! I forgot to mention the sweater vest! Such an amazing transformation of the sweater. I love the addition of the mustard stitching!
for an even more tight budget and less crafty approach i instinctly thought of these clear shower curtain hooks. they might be skinnier but already in the perfect shape and you can just dye them and you're done!!
Great job! In the future, the easiest way to make chain links is actually to make a long coil (maybe using 2 dowels as a jig) and then cut through it. That way you can easily close the chain links! If you look up how to make jump rings for jewelry, it’s the same concept.
Wow!!! Rachel you are so talented!!! And such a great teacher when you do projects!!! All three of you are absolutely amazing! This fixture would also look amazing in Becky’s new MCM home!!! Always excited for every new video!!
@@nicolaclements1477 If it was a $50,000 American dollar fixture it would be $ 67,885 Canadian dollars. So if she spent $100c it was about $74 American.
I was impressed by how the oval happened to have the right circumference for the 8” rods. I would’ve liked a smaller distance between the ends though, so if the pattern was a little smaller. Would never have thought to do this. I was just like “get the chains from the hardware store” but I think those acrylic chain links are super in. I keep seeing glasses chains like that
Have they ever explained how ownership of the DIYs works? It seemed strange that something Rachel made and loved ended up in Kelsey's home especially when most of the things Kelsey and Becky make are for their own homes.
I guess you could consider that 1. She isnt an equal partner/owner of the company they built- so company or Kelsey probably paid for all of the materials ( I'm sure the company doesnt pay for personal projects Kelsey and Becky do in thier own homes) she is an employee, she was definitely paid to make it as well, 2. She might not have room in her apt. for it, so when she was inspired by it, she probably pitched the idea to Kelsey since she is needing to fix up that space anyway
I feel like she maybe didn't have a place for it in her home while kelsey did and rachel didn't mind kelsey using it :-) Also I feel like if rachel wanted it back to use, kelsey would give it back probably?
Hm. A lot of assumptions in these comments. Rachel clearly said she wanted it in her home if Kelsey was ever done with it… it’s certainly a gorgeous chandelier.
I wonder if you could prep the acrylic rod by heating it as a batch in the oven 🤔 so when you subject the next one to the heat gun you've got a head start.
Having the tools and know how to use them is something to pay for. YOU have the right tools and know how to use them. That makes a difference. I like, that you even produced a helping tool for the chain making and changed a sweater for the showcase. The sweater also turned BETTER out in the new shape, and the sleeves as arm warmers are both funny and useful.
I was a bit sceptic about the hooks on the ceiling but it looks fab :) so lucky that you found the lamp online! If you want to recreate this lamp for smaller spaces you can definitely get clear shower curtain hooks for the chain I think.
that bottom grate thing from the fb marketplace lamp could be used as a plant hanger perhaps? :P just a suggestionnnn and OMGGG that light looks so good!!!!
Would it have been easier to bend the acrylic right after the boiling/dying process? It would have already been almost as hot as it needs to be. Not sure! Cool and creative!
When you are looking forward to take your lunch break at 1pm on a Tuesday cz TSG video would be out to binge on while having lunch to feel inspired for the rest of the day. I watched it 3 minutes after it was on the channel. Go TSG!
I absolutely hate it lol BUT it's amazing how you made it! Love seeing you source the lamp secondhand and the innovation of the chain links. Still enjoyed the video even though I don't like the end product - that's how entertaining Sorry Girls vids are!
Love it! I can see it hanging from my porch! Love the fact that you can dye the 'chain' to any color you need. Also, incredible job on sweater/vest transformation! Seriously! That was a transformation! From ugly sweater to fashionable vest... who would have guessed! I will definitely be looking at ugly sweaters differently now. And when you cut off the sleeves, my first thought was boot socks! Fun and fabulous video!
When you are old ahem and you are like Emma who? While I can appreciate why the original costs so much since every piece is hand blown and 100% customized this is such a good dupe
You did it very nice. One thing that comes to my OCD mind is that I wish the chains were more closed, you know the 2 sides of each chain are too far from each other, in my opinion.
Really interesting processes for both the sweater and the light fixture. I keep thinking of a funky sweater I did not buy at Goodwill many years ago. If you fall in love with something at a thrift shop, just get it and figure it out later! Your outfit turned out cute. After reading the comments I need to look up who Ash Ketchum is.
Great video again, Rachael 👍 always good vibes and I really appreciate your more unusual crafting methods and ideas. While the chandelier isn't my thing I can definitely see myself bending and dyeing acrylic for projects I have in mind, so thank you for doing it first!
Impressive recreation of those links, all in all, such a "bright" idea (lol), job well done! Oh, and that sweater vest conversion, love it. The additional mustard stitching around the arm hole was a great finishing touch, now you should consider that same color stitching at the top of the arm warmers to match.🪡
This was an amazing build 🤩 It really got me thinking. I didn’t like the amount of work the links required. Seemed really tedious. I also really didn’t like the look of the open links, but I bet for many the style holds a lot of appeal. I’m not a fan of spider lights either. But a single globe and transparent chain. This I can love. And as it turns out I can make such a light for 30-50 USD. Probably less with better searching. I will match the proportions of the globe to the chain. And happiness will be mine.
Just incredible! OMW to make a sweater vest! Also ladies, I installed my own ceiling fan the other day and sang the breaker song, thank you for showing us all how much we can actually do on our own🤩🤩😍😍

Oh my goodness!! What an AMAZING JOB!!! And once again, I am completely impressed!!!!! 💜🤜🤛💜
The fact that rachel is slowly becoming a light fixture artist and is taking us down with her on the road... love that
Watching her do this definitely tells me why the glass formed one was 50K. Like omg the time it took for her to use acrylic probably took longer with glass forming those chains.
The ultimate “That Cost How Much?!” 😍
Time of her work, should be included.
Acrylic can be dyed like that...that's bloody amazing! Love it, tfs
My childhood would have gone so much smoother if my mom would have written "fabric only" in Sharpie on her orange-handled scissors like y'all did.
This hits home so hard lol
Mine knew the silver heavy scissors were for mommy only!! Did it deter them……. No. 🙄
My mom did and I still didn't care lol
I remember getting in trouble for using my mom's as a kid. I guard and hide mine from my family. 😅
so for the sweater vest, if anyone else want's to do it make sure you use a zig-zag stitch. It's stretchy and should always be used with stretch fabrics, it can also help stop fraying

But seriously, I'm so impressed with this DIY! Wow!

Haha! Didn't pick up on this at the time, but now that you say it... 😂
Yeah that was the worst outfit I’ve ever seen on a grown woman
@@gene416 Hey, now! I didn't say it was bad!

Same.. I have experience bending acrylic pipes like this and it is not easy work
I definitely do not have the same taste in style as Rachel but the amount of happiness she gets from both the sweater vest and the light turning out how she wanted, I love 😊❤️ I know that feeling and can enjoy it with her, she has such a great personality that the warmth comes through on camera 👍
Quite labor intensive, but for 50k?! Heck yeah! The end result looks professional too!
I would love to see a video DIYing an akari lamp! Like the one in Troye Sivan's house
This looks super cool. Absolutely not my aesthetic but Rachaels craftmanship and passion for the project where so fun to watch! And very impressive.

i’m honestly impressed that you made your own chain link. i swear i’ve seen that chain at the hardware store but this is awesome
we saw that but it just didnt look AS good
I’m so impressed that you made your own links! You can truly do anything you put your mind to ❤
Had no idea you could dye acrylic like that. Might have to try it and use it to make a stain glass window effect 🤔
Dollar store shower curtain hooks can be hooked together for an even more budget friendly version. Love how it turned out!
That sweater vest arm warmer combo is actually pure art
Kelsey is a lucky girl getting that chandelier. Amazing work by Rachel!
You're so cute. I love your energy & vibe. Chandelier is not my style but I respect everyone's taste and happy Kelsey liked it. Good job!

Okay I am SOO impressed. I'm a big DIYer and I couldn't begin to think about how to recreate this one. Such a creative project, very well executed!
I'm curious, could you have formed the rods around the wood straight out of the dye pot to skip the heat gun step?
the chandelier turned out so well!! Curious to know how much everything cost at the end, obvs no where near the cost of the original piece 😂😢😅
I think $30 for the acrylic and $45 for the light. Not sure of the rest of the supply cost
@@myrnashoults9735 The cost of the dye couldn’t have been no more than $15 too
