Welcome back to Project Profit! Thank you for all the support on this series so far. The first round of profits have been donated to Doctors Without Borders. Learn more about the organization here: www.doctorswithoutborders.org/
A while back, Rachael's mom shared her desire to update the front door foyer area in her home by adding some much-needed storage space under the stairs. She has been loving the FarmHouse aesthetic, and gave some inspiration from Pottery Barn that she liked, but it came with a hefty price tag of $800, which was way beyond her budget. Ideally, she wanted a vintage piece that matched our aged oak dining room table, which is not an easy find. She mentioned that she'd like to spend around $250 on this project, which sparked an idea. What if she commissioned Rachael with that $250 to transform an existing piece to contribute to the Project Profit fund? She loved the idea, and that's how this project began.

Your mom keeping furniture for years in case her children need it in the future is a love language on its own ♥️
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My mom did this and then one day decided to sell everything and move thousands of miles away😢
My mom did too and now that she has passed, not one person in the family wants anything so I've kept a few small things that I have no room for (lol) and I'm selling/donating the rest. (I'm not moving far away though.) I just don't have the space to hang onto it for future generations, unfortunately.
The decision to expand the sorry girls and promote rachel and rochelle was not only a good business decision for legacy/schedulinh purposes, but also an incredible creative decision. So many fresh ideas and new skills added to the team (or I suppose promoted). Love the expansion!
Thank you so much for picking Doctors Without Borders as the charitable donation recipient. They always do good work and their organization is particularly needed right now
Agreed. Such a great choice!
I love This series. Also i obviously still love Becky’s and Kelsey’s content but somehow Rachael’s challenging use of new techniques and materials is so so so exciting to watch ❤️
Speechless. The steel wool stain and the wax preserved leaves 😮🫠🍂 actual wow factor and incredible styling! ❤
Rachel is such a joy to watch. She's equally calming but super enthusiastic too. I just love her videos
Love this series and your mom's reaction is so cute! You always inspire me to take on more projects in my house. Lots of love from Germany! 🧡
Love from Belgium :)
Jaaa ganz viel Liebe😊🥰
Doctor's Without Borders was a great selection. So glad you were able to give them a good-sized donation thru your hard work. Doggo delivers big HUGS! The end result was sooo good with the cabinet. Well done!
Ugh Rachel is such a talented DIYer and storyteller! I loved this video. 👏🏻🥹✨💖
Yeah I was going to say, I was in it for the whole ride just as much as the practical DIY tips 😅
Stunning results (as always). You blew my mind waxing the leaves and gluing them to the branch!
Re: the wood stripper, depending on the varnish, you will need to use a specific product. Transcend Furniture Gallery does a great job of educating on various finishes and how to remove them. Angie is another Canadian & she often does furniture flips for charity! Maybe somebody to collab with in future?
Yes! A collab would be great. Angie does excellent work!
Love Angie's channel ❤
I would LOVE a collab with Angie!
The waxed leaves remind me of a project we'd do during fall in grade school, where we'd iron fall leaves in waxed paper and put them up on our classroom windows. I love that cabinet, as well! A great fall project!
omg I remember doing this
Memory unlocked 😮
That vinegar /steel wool stain is so cool! The dresser looks so good! So beautiful ❤
wow I feel like I learned so much from this! the steel wool solution was so good. would love to see two tallies of the spending--one like you currently have with the "free" supplies from the office and one that estimates the true cost based on how much of each supply you used. would be a lot of work to add up but really informative for DIYers who don't have a huge supply collection!
Rachel you are such a wonderful addition to the Sorry Girl team 🫶
This episode was just so wonderfully wholesome and peaceful. When you talked to the animals and showed us nature, it was so soothing and made me smile 😊
I hate grey wash but this is amazing!!😍 definitely my favorite series so far
I loved hearing the emotion in you Mom's voice. You can tell she was overcome with joy at having this piece reperposed from you childhood. It turned!!! That steel wool and vinegar hack was genius.
Doctors Without Borders is one of my faves. Brilliant work on the entryway -- especially having the foliage follow the line of the stairs -- and brilliant to benefit this cause.
You’re a treasure to watch at work.
Obviously the cabinet was the main event, but the nature project?!? YES!
That was so clever with the leaves! I was afraid the wax would dry and look a little opaque, but your arrangement turned out beautifully! Love your transformation :)
I haven't finished the video yet but I had to comment and say that your parents dog is literally the cutest thing I've ever seen!!
The branch project felt like old school TSG, but with a very sustainable twist. Love!!!
The vinegar and steel wool trick on the wood is called, ebonizing the wood. FYI.
This video was lovely, I have so much random wood furniture that was left in the barn by the previous owners of my house, this is really inspiring me to rethink how I can give those pieces a new life.
I was thinking that I needed a Rachael fix and here you are.🌺 You are a kind, old soul my dear and I love your content.
I have been refinishing furniture for most of my 60+ years and I was very impressed with how this project turned out.🩷Great job, you earned a gold star ⭐😀
No, but the wax leaves are ICONIC. Amazing job!
Great tip about vinegar and wire wool...and waxing the leaves! Had tried standing ivy branches in glycerin for couple weeks, then making a wreath with the leaves. They kept their colour for years! Eventually they did turn brown but were still pliable for another few years after that.
I redid 700sq ft of my home’s wood floors 😮💨 and used the steel wood oxidation process as my stain and LOVED the results. Even though I shopped around for a stain that wouldnt change the finish much, it was kind of inevitable, however, still just about the result I wanted and I saved so much money!
i love how creative rachel is in her diying and style, such a cool piece and delia's reaction was so sweet
the fact that the cabinet is literally a perfect size for that wall blows my mind!
Genius idea to wax the leaves and attach to the branch!
Honestly I've been following The Sorry Girls for years I mean YEARS. Took me awhile to warm up to Rachael and everyone else beyond Kelsey & Becky. Even though Rachael's style isn't usually my own I really appreciate all the effort, and determination not only they but everyone else on the channel puts in. I really like that the whole channel really explored more extensive, advanced DIYs. I definitely see and sense the shift overall since the new warehouse tbh. I'm here for it, I'm glad Rachael is warming up to me. I definitely have my own struggles with change especially with something I find so grounding as a stress reliever and outlet of entertainment. Keep at it ya'll.
Also video idea: Have a ornament exchange with the whole team. You make a list of a few things like christmas style, any specific things you love about the holidays or Christmas. Ect ect and blind grab the name of who you have the ornament for.
Much love,
Anna Sisko from Chesapeake, Virginia.
Rachel I love the look of the dresser now that you stripped it down to this color. Who knew VINEGAR would do the trick. I love this series of videos❤❤❤great job
I thought i detected a hint of nerves right before the reveal and then relief and almost tears when mom loved it! The attention to detail on projects is always stellar here. Beautiful job! 🙂💖
Dude. The branches are such an incredible!!! And props for all the stripping! (On the dres… cabinet)
You look so much like your mom. Definitely know where you get your style and beauty ❤
DWB is a great choice! Specially with whats happening in Gazza right now🇵🇸
Yes!! ❤
Especially what's happening to the Jews right now ❤️
At least acknowledge both parties are in need of doctors if you must mention it.
No matter what side your with, they are all human beings in need of aid.
May the world become a peaceful place where violence and wars do not exist and human beings are safe to live along side each other. 🙏🏻❤️❤️
@@ravenclaw2898What is happening with the Jews right now? I'm only aware of one terrorist attack that occurred after 75 years of Israel's occupation of Palestine and imprisoning them for generations. Palestine is being denied food, water, and medicine as they are being bombed currently. As we speak. Was there another attack on Israel I'm not aware of? Is Israel in need of humanitarian efforts because they have no access to medical care?
The leaves dipped in wax and glued to the branch is genius
Please keep doing fun (& safe, nice) home chemistry for your DIYs 😄
We used to iron fall leaves between two sheets of wax paper (wax sides in) to preserve the leaves. Bringing back childhood memories :D.
I loved this video...my favorite so far...stunning job on the piece and the leaves/branches idea also turned out wonderful...staging too was beautiful!
That upcycle was so interesting with you chemistry experiment. I love that about you. And the finshed area is beautiful. AAnd you give to a charity! so many good things.
Very likeable creator, I wish you guys would give Rachel a bigger project like how you guys tackle full room makeovers for people..
Your apple cider stain is fantastic!! I have never seen this and I love it.
I actually gasped when you brought the drawer in the compare to the table. The color match was unreal!
You did a great job on that piece and the styling (for free!) was inspired. Fabulous content for a worthy cause.
The cabinet turned out beautiful! Great weathering tip! Will have to remember that for future projects.
That refurbish was so amazing. I’m going to try the was and leaves and look for a branch like yours ❤️❤️❤️👍🏽
Beautiful upcycle. I'm so pleased you changed out the glass vase for the ceramic one. That white vase was a perfect match. Clever job with the branches/leaves too. Also a HUGE Thanks for supporting MSF or DWB as you called it. They are in desperate need of support given the conflicts existing in the world.
I waxed leaves with my Gma when I was younger! One of my favorite childhood memories!
Omfg you are giving serious blonde Zooey Deschanel in elf vibes in the intro so iconic
I loved that he hugged you. So cute!
There were several times this video that I thought "WOW!" Particularly with the chemistry lesson and the wax leaves ingenuity. Both were very advanced and refreshing techniques
Rachael js never daunted by a tedious process or difficult vision! She always executes!
You don't even have to dip them. Use wax paper. Put the leaf between two sheets and then iron them. You get a very thin wax application on the leaf that preserves them really well. Thanks mom for childhood craft time!
Girl I have so much respect for you, doing all this hard work with long nails.🥰
Omg I loved every part of the project !!!! The vinegar hack was awesome. The dipping leaves, Rachel above and beyond.
This upcycle turned out great. Love the new color of the cabinet. Waxing the leaves and gluing them to tk branches was brilliant. ❤
Thanks so much for this I have been looking for a wood stain for pine for ages this looks just job! Beautiful result 👍
Rachel, you are so patient and thorough! Love that about you and these series. Great job!
I loved the tree branch idea and the end result looked stunning
Thank you for sharing this wonderful series awesome have a wonderful week.
I love, love, love rachels content! Its so refreshing!! Rachel you are such a talented and inspiring person!
The cabinet turned out very well. When you were applying the wax, it reminded me of a job I had working for an antique dealer (a loooong time ago). She asked me to wax a pine cabinet. The only thing I had ever waxed before was a car, so like you, I took a cloth and applied a generous amount of wax to the surface in circular motions. She told me right off! I was suppose to use 0000 grit steel wool, a small amount of wax, and rub in the direction of the grain. Once the wax was applied, it just needed a quick polish with a clean cloth. I've used wax this way ever since.
The vinegar mix is one of the best tips so far!!! Great espisode, Rachel!! 💕
*Favorite Stain for Warm and Weathered* . My go-to stain is Varathane Briar Smoke, it's a warm mid-tone brown with gray grabbing elements. Your DIY mix looks fantastic. Kudos for going with a wax finish. The DIY waxed leaves....Chef's Kiss.
Such a beautiful Doodle!!!
What a twist on this series, loved it
That was such a sweet video Rachel, and you worked hard to make the piece just right for your parents.🌾🍁🍂
You are so talented! And you have a great presence on camera. You are my favorite!
Rachel has the prettiest eyes, and i cannot believe her patient. Like from the day she did the Emma Chamberlain chandelier, she never stops amazing me. Well done girl! I am so glad you are a part of my fav youtube channel! Lots of love to all of your team TSG
That turned out gorgeous. You have really hit your stride in this series!
the way we have been attached to this series already
i appreciate rachel calling out her blended family!
Rachel!! I wondered where you were!
So good to see you again!! ❤🎉
Love you!
Love the cabinet! Never new about the vintages and steel wool mixture. Thanks for sharing.
Love it! 🍁
I’m totally copying these ideas, thank you.
I LOVE the cabinet!!!!! And the waxed leaves on the branches are so lovely!!
So smart to attached the wax preserved leaves to the branches!! It all look amazing, nice work!!!!
Thank you Rachael! You crushed it once again! Brilliant!
Great job and loved those leaves! I thought you were crazy but I may try this.
Wow that was a success and beautiful too!🇬🇧😁❤️
Fantastic flip and so happy about the donation going to doctors without borders! I am a little surprised by the sponsorship by Tineco, because I understand that one of the values of the SG team is low environmental impact. When I first learned about the cordless Tineco I was a big fan, but then realized that the battery life is 2-3 years and I couldn't seem to find any information about replacement batteries. I contacted the company to ask about this and their reply was that it is not possible to replace the battery. So the whole machine will need to be thrown away after 3 years- what?! This was as of last year; maybe they have changed something since then; I do hope so.
Love this series!
I love the cabinet the leaves and the leaf crunch
I love this series more with each episode. I was skeptical about your wax leaves, but they look wonderful. (I'm glad you didn't use the clear vase)
What a cute dog! You are so inventive. I LOVE the chunky heart necklace 💕
Fully impressed with the outcome & what an AWESOME idea to use Apple Cider Vinegar & Steel Wool in that way… love it 🫶🏻 Also, FULLY impressed with you doing all of that with those gorgeous nails 💅🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻🩷🐨🌺
What a beautiful entryway your Mother has now!!
Oh gosh Rachel, this was so awesome and the way you put those leaves on that branch is so cool and they won't dry up and get ruined they will look amazing for a really long time. You are such a great DIYer and I love watching all of your videos. Sending love and hugs, bye! 😊🥰🤗👏💖💜💜
So perfect for the entry. Love the leaves on the limbs.
Love your ideas. Everything turned out beautifully
My new granddaughter’s name is Cordelia. You did such an amazing job. I have heard of the vinegar solution stain but did not know how to make it. I have all the supplies here.
Love that name
Love the leaves! I will have to try that. I have a special leaf in a glass heart frame that I might give the treatment to, but it's about 2 years old after it fell. It was a leaf that fell on me at a block party on my childhood block after moving across the country to be closer to family because remote work became a long-term possibility. It was like the trees were welcoming me home.
Aww Rachael I just love this series and the energy that you bring!🥰
It looks like a million bucks! Sooo pretty!
Loved the idea of dipping the leaves in wax! That's brilliant! ❤
I know you work so hard on the cabinet, and it turned out really great, but I have to say that the leaves and branch were so so pretty.
