Lovely project Spiritwynd, besides all the details you put into it I like the ones nature left for us to enjoy too (knots). It's the perfect place for the light ! 👍 Thanks for sharing🙏 Stay safe. -Mike😷
Very nice. Looked like a dremel used? I was trying to understand what was used to cut out openings in top a small circular cutter? Thanks for instruction.
Great question Michael! This was only my second, ever,TH-cam video. Which means that I had probably only been turning for 2 months at the most, meaning I didn't have a clue about what I was doing or that the extension even came off😅 But, considering that I am TH-cam taught, I don't think I did too bad. Thanks for watching Heather 🇨🇦
OK...I lied! I just went back and read the other comments, I apparently had been turning for around a year when I made this video. I'm not quite 3 years in now.
@spiritwynd Hello Heather im sorry i wasn't have a good at you i was just wondering. We all have to start somewhere and learn as we go it's great that people like your self put up videos for us to watch we all can learn from them. So keep up the woodturning and all the videos thanks Michael 🇮🇪
Wonderful project mate, was curious (from the thumbnail) how you were going to cut the windows, curiosity answered. A new roof with Red Cedar would look really fitting. Thanks for sharing your methods. As for the peeling wood, I think, it may be the sapwood peeling away from the heartwood and usually comes off with quite a surprise, so face shield is a must wear. Keep on turning. Cheers, Bluey 👍
Nice light house. The skew sure cleaned up the tear out very nicely. Take a look at some sanding paste that helps keep the dust down in the shop. It may help you in that regard. Recipe by Mike Peace. th-cam.com/video/snu6IO2qckc/w-d-xo.html
That's lovely, been thinking of turning a Lighthouse myself for a while. If your open to some advice on turning. When turning a piece like you've done here, you don't need to use the Tool Rest Extension, I noticed you getting a bit of vibration, which translates into the work piece, removing the Extension will help reduce that immensely. At least that's what I found on my Lathe that's similar to yours. Also, I noticed your tool technique needs a little work, it's not bad, just needs some refinement, for spindle turning I recommend watching Tim Yoder's Woodturning Workshop as he explains things like how best to use a Spindle Roughing Gouge (Episodes have been uploaded to the TV Station's TH-cam channel where he works th-cam.com/video/xOvRSWnlE4E/w-d-xo.html ). Apologies for being so forward for my first comment on your videos, just would rather say something that helps, and keeps you safe and turning. Thanks for sharing your work, looking forward to seeing more.
Thank you so much for the advice! I will definitely check out Tim Yoder's workshop! I can't believe I didn't realize that the tool rest extension comes off! Duh!¡! Lol

Thanks Mike! I debated on whether to burn blocks into it, but decided that the natural grain of the wood looked like waves from the water!
@@spiritwynd Ah yes, the perennial Can I Improve Upon the Wood's Innate Beauty !! Good choice !

Thank you! I've only been turning since January, so I still have lots to learn!

Yes, it was a Dremel with a circular cutter. Thanks for watching!
@@spiritwynd thank you!
Nice bit of woodturning as usual. Was wondering why do you use the out board attachment on your tool rest for just normal turning thanks Michael

No worries, I still have lot's to learn, there's always something to learn, that's what helps keep turning interesting for me.
I cannot offer much help as I am a newbie I just keep trying it’s fun and addicting in many good ways
It is addictive! I've been turning almost a year now, and I don't see myself ever stopping!
What kind of wood?
Spruce! It used to be a Christmas tree!
@@spiritwynd thank you, good video
