    My Husqvarna 24v48 started surging real bad one day only 8 yrs old, i ordered a carb rebuild kit cleaned everything out and put it back together and it purrs like a kitten. I also installed a fuel shutoff valve under the seat for winter so my carb won't gum up anymore.

      All I did was turn the carb upside down to drain the gas and the water out, then sprayed it good with carb cleaner.(sorry for showing that)

    Have a Husqvarna with a Briggs engine. It started surging and least affected at full throttle. Cleaned air filter and still the same then got some Seafoam and added about 1/4 bottle to a nearly full tank and ran for about 15 seconds and stopped surging. Nothing ever works out so easy for me.

    Ethanol mixesvwith water from the atmosphere so e10 gas can go bad if it sits. Tin hatters think its a conspiracy to prevent fuel hoarding. But its just an unfortunate side effect. Try to find a place that sells farm gas with no ethanol or buy smaller amounts of fuel more often so nothing sits in the tank for too long. I installed a spigot and outlet tube on my fuel tank so i can drain the tank for the winter or when i know it wont be used for a while. Another issue i have is the mower starter plunger can get dust in it and leave you wondering why your tractor wont start. Turn the key to start and cycle the blade swith a few times before you go checking all tge other safety switches.

      The term you're looking for is hygroscopic. E10 is a no-no with these engines. It says it right on the fuel cap.

    I happened to do the same yesterday. Just cleaned and lubed all the external moving bits on the carb and the throttle and now it runs like a Ferrari again.

    I wonder why nobody ever mentions the bolts on the sump cover on the top of the engine. I. Have not had one of those engines that I didn't have to tighten the bolts that I could get to. Believe me that they will and do back out. The front ones back out far enough to hit the flywheel and Crack the the engine housing. So if you see a bunch of oil coming from the top of that engine you had better pull the cover off and check the bolts. Hopefully you will catch it before it contacts the flywheel and cracking the caseing ruining the motor.

    Just needed to drain the carb bowl, it’s full of water. Sometimes there’s a drain, if not just drop the bowl, empty, reinstall....

    Most of the time it's just dirt in the small passages that causes the engine surging. I first run Seafoam thru it and it usually will clear it up. But if it's really plugged, you may have to remove the carb or atleast take out the needle valves and clean them with an air compressor or I like to use an old guitar string thru the jet to clean the gunk or dirt out.

    Loud cicadas in the background. Love the sound. I’ve experienced 2 different huge broods of cicadas. For 2-3 loud weeks day and night.
    Finally I see how to stop my riding lawnmower from surging. Thanks for the information

    We have a V twin but the mower looks identical and we’re having the same surging issues but only at heavy throttle. We’ve cleaned the carburetor and put on new filters. It is a bit better but still surging at full power. Any other ideas? Should I attempt to clean the carb again? My grass is turning into a damn rainforest so looking forward to a speedy response.....

I guess that’s better tho because I was at least able to cut the lawn. I did drain the tank and clean it and bought new gas. The only thing I haven’t tried is the sea foam. I’ll try that next. I see this all the time. Why do people not check the inside of their gas cans. E10 fuel and condensation will collect water in the can or fuel tank.

    • @Ausblack
      @Ausblack 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The pilot jet is what is blocked. It's the smallest part to those carbs so it's the first to block up. The other problem is obviously the contaminated fuel and the red fuel filter isn't a good one as it's just a screen mesh not a pleated filter which would catch all of that contamination.
