This is my first time watching a Malaysian reviewing a car. Really surprised to discover your name is Hafriz Shah instead of John Whatsoever 😅. I'm far more amazed by your all-round review rather than the car itself. Excellently delivered, well spoken out. However, it would be even nicer to put some graphical specs of the car throughout the video. Keep it up!
Some viewpoint from a Volvo user: 1. The climate control can be easily manipulated using voice command. 2. The double-click shifter is not an issue once you are used to it. Like a modern aircraft, you look at the gauges to verify the gear mode you're in. 3. Once you're used to it, the brakes are quite natural. It is just like most hybrid or electric cars with regenerative braking. My only complain about the car is losing the folding rear seats. Totally unnecessary deletion to save a few ringgit, which most buyers will willingly pay.
I was shopping for new cars and tested all three (330i, C300,S60) . The power that s60 produces just make the other two felt so weak. Yes the 3 has more dynamic chassis but again how many time in a year are we going to do genting/klawang run to really benefit from that handling. On highway n daily commute the s60 trumps with its power when u need it and almost zero fuel for daily commute.
Clear explanation hafriz... And no doubt a brilliant car.. There will be some cons defintely, just like any other car but overall I just think its gorgeous and bang for buck... Hopefully this will get people to notice volvo..i think they are getting better by the day
@@hafrizshah4937 absolutely agree... The brand has very subtle image... And they have their following as well. Till today, I still think the XC90 is a fantastic car evethough it's been a few years old since the initial launch., far superior than the rest of the pack. And while the s60 is fast, it is designed with comfort in mind as well. Not just brute power to ho against the Germans. It's a fair compromise, I would say.
Gret review Hafriz. There was no mention about the headlights. Is it just conventional headlights or does it come with adaptive high beam, bending lights etc?
Hi guy, Does 2020 Volvo S60 T8 R-Design CKD have 4 independent climate control zones? And what is the leather of the seats, and are there any air vents for the seats? Many thanks.
The Malaysian CKD models don't have 4-zone climate control, only 2-zone plus rear B-pillar vents. Seats are part Nappa leather, part fabric, with no ventilation function.
Another great review. I like the simplicity of volvo interiors, and out of long term use of c class 2017, the mercedes interior is noisy and not so impressive, although it looks good specially with new mbux but still I find the volvo interior executed with better quality.
hey I’d like to ask if you think the s60 would most likely keep its value relatively strong ? Cause I’m interested in the car but currently waiting for the new bmw330e to be released. Any thoughts or feedbacks ? Especially for the second question (bmw 330e)
Well, there is no way to accurately predict the car's resale value in the future - will depend much on its popularity and demand. But, looking at Volvo's recent track record, the XC90 is holding on to its value relatively stronger than a comparable BMW X5. There are less used units of the S90 on sale, but again their prices are about on par with comparable 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class models. This is no guarantee the S60 will be as good, but you can say that signs are good. As for the 330e, I'll keep my judgement until its local equipment and price are announced, and until I drive it myself. Likely it won't get an M Sport suspension like on the 330i, so the ride quality difference to the S60 should be a lot less dramatic than what I've mentioned in this video. Handling should still edge the S60 too. But for overall package, yeah I'll wait till I know more.
Very great and comprehensive unbiased content. I am in the market comparing the S60T8 against the G20 330e. Can you enlighten me which one is the best value overall for performance, comfort, luxury, reliability as a long term daily driver. More power to your channel!
"Pretty samey", So is every other BMW in the past 20 years? Although it's a T8, in Malaysia it's only the Momentum finish internally, we don't have the Inscription model where instead of the piano black, it'll be with natural wood inlays
I think the biggest downside to the S60 is really the rear seats not foldable. This to me is the real bummer here. Coz I think the S60 is the perfect sedan for a young family, sporty, fast and most of all safe. But not being able to fold the back seats down when you need to...that's a real turn off.
Karl Sundbeck if you find the S60 cabin tight, the German alternatives will be even smaller. The C-Class in right-hand drive form has an especially narrow footwell.
@@hafrizshah4937, hmm, 0.7 sec slower that advertised, Hafriz, aside from its safety features and pilot assist and whatnot, would u still recommend this over a 330i or a c300?

I’ve tested mine in all sorts of conditions and the best I’ve run with A/C off, traction off, 1/4 fuel tank, nearly full charge and in less than 50 degrees Fahrenheit is 4.7 seconds.
Why won't Volvo Malaysia bring in the T4/5/6 variants? Now that CKD is possible, more the reason to have these other variants available for the market.
Aircond control in the Volvo can be controlled using voice lah. In fact you don’t even need to look at the screen to manipulate the air conditioning system. Please do your research speaking your mind. Lol
Hafriz Shah it is! You don’t even need to take your eyes off the road. Why will you brand it a ‘complain’ ? Doesn’t make any sense. Function such as recirculation, heater, fan speed, temperature can all be controlled via voice.
Benjamin Sebastian that's true, but I wouldn't call it a practical solution. Takes way too much effort and time for such simple tasks. Sure voice controls work, some better than others, but most of the time they're not much more than a gimmick.
Hafriz Shah to be honest dude, it depends on how you look at it. To me it’s a ‘function’ more than a ‘solution’, never a gimmick, because it is actually an improvement on the safety aspect as the driver wouldn’t even have to take his/her eyes off the steering wheel. It’s a feature/function worthy of praise from Volvo nonetheless 👍🏻
Benjamin Sebastian Yes, it makes sense in the way you put it. Having said that, the S60's voice commands for AC controls aren't any better than what's offered on the facelifted W205 C-Class, and far less intuitive and/or useful than the newer "Hey BMW" function in the G20 3 Series. So I don't agree that special praise should be given in this respect.
Loha Raajh The T8 accelerates faster than a 330i to 100 km/h, but the 330i has a very similar quarter mile time compared to the Volvo as well as an identical trap speed.

Sorry to say but disagree on the interior. The 3 series actually feels very cheap with the panel made of cheap plastic that feels like the interior of a Proton saga.
