Why do guys think smooth is the "American aesthetic"? In my observations, there's has been a resurgence of body hair in the gay community ... and not just bears/otters.
Smooth balls, smooth ass on bottoms, is what I usually see, even though general, all-over body hair has been left longer.

As much as I think it's great to have a choice. It should be just that, one's own choice. I grew up when literally no one was manscaping during school and later my independent early grown-up life. Sounds a bit like some insecurities or trauma are bubbling up to the surface here. Everyone is allowed to have personal taste and be objective. But saying someone without hair is like being a child is... Weird. Like you spend way too much time thinking about what a child should look like vs an adult. Suppose someone else suggests that a hairy child should wax or shave because they are too reminiscent of an adult... In both situations the act of stating it (objectively) sounds worse and more perverse than the actual act of removing hair for aesthetic or comfort purposes. Not to mention it insinuates the idea that the only reason people use hair removal methods is to look more like a child and less like an adult. Regardless if they themselves remove hair for that reason in the first place. You may be projecting too harshly in this instance. My personal take would be to avoid bringing up the mention of children whenever discussing personal preferences about one, two (or more) adults and their intimate methodologies.

I recently found out that if we have something within our body, - it is probably required. But specifically about facial hair it is quite interesting observation. Whenever I am not shaving face for 2-3 weeks (I am caucasian white type), - I feel like face releasing some kind of "bad fat" through the facial hair. And whenever I stay like that for 3-4 weeks and then shave it to zero, - I feel like having baby face each time, - cause it is clean, refreshed, good color. In other words face knows somehow to detofixy itself through it which I am finding amazing. If I stay for a long time shaved, or even short facial hair (trimmer), - it is still not that good and my face skin becomes not that healthy anymore. And then I repeat 3-4 weeks routine and it is back. So whenever anyone wants to remove hair there, - your choices for sure. It might looks pretty and so on, - but consider before you make decision of what I said above.
Maybe. I've heard that butt hair actually has good bacteria protecting the hole but we also have problems like armpit hair being the home for bacteria.
Evolutionary wise we are evolving more towards a hairless gen so technically nature itself is finding hair useless for us.

I like groomed, trimmed men, but not hairless. I wouldn’t remove anything permanently because your body changes over time, your own taste changes and fashions change. It’s like tattooed eyebrows on women, you don’t want to be stuck with that when you’re 75.
I have done this but not on balls. It does grow back but takes years to grow back. It hurt so much I can’t believe you didn’t find it more painful. I can’t imagine doing the balls. Having hair on your chest is popular with many in USA but I hate it on ass or balls. I guess you are doing the Miami cruise which will be crazy fun. We are doing the Asia one next month out of Singapore.

The laser heats up the hair to kill the follicle. The sensation can be more or less for different people, but it would be strange for it to be totally painless.

IMHO, laser hair removal is NOT for everyone. Like many other body issues, it's a personal choice. I like smooth bodies on some men and hair on others. Bottom (heehee) line...if I have chemistry with someone, I don't care if they have body hair or not. The body esthetics in the gay male community are all over the board and I prefer that diversity. I do like a bit of a treasure trail, however. Cheers Guys.
