  • In a recent discussion with Jordan Peterson about the Bible, Dennis Prager made some shocking claims about Judaism's view on lust and p*rn. Here is an authentic Jewish and Biblical perspective on why lust and p*rn are probably even more dangerous than you think. ‪@RuslanKD‬ ‪@DailyDisciple‬ ‪@TheCounselofTrent‬ ‪@TheBibleisArt‬ ‪@FaithTalks‬ ‪@whaddoyoumeme‬

Realized the Hews who are unbaptized and are by their very nature Antichrist. The world-leading marketers of porn. Fact is that use in the modern Jews have a long history of embracing sexual sexual sin. Jesus Christ himself said if you look at a with lust in your eye sin against 6th commandment. Where do the Hews get off thinking they're not going to go to hell for mortal sin. Objectively speaking I can tell you Dennis Prager is already punched his ticket for hell. Jeopardy speaking it doesn't care whether he believes it or not. Jesus and God the father and the Holy Ghost have spoken. And when his soul goes directly before Jesus he will find out the only one doing any talking is Jesus not him.

Well said. Thank you for the clarification. I think there is a basic agreement that having the desire and overcoming it is a path to holiness. Aquinas would say the point the desire or thought becomes sinful is when we "take pleasure" in it. Obviously we are build as sexual beings, but also called to have self mastery. Enjoy the channel, keep up the good work. And a blessed Passover to you and yours.

Porn is, at least, coveting a forbidden relationship, though the vividness of experience makes it nearly indistinguishable from actual hookups. I like what you said elsewhere "the ONLY healthy male expression of sexuality is in response to a female's desire" and obviously only when that female desire is in the context of a permissible relationship, otherwise we do need to suppress our desires and not allow them to foster even if you are married and the desire is for her.

And Jesus, who I believe is the Messiah, further generalized them all as hanging on the two greatest commandments, to love God and love your neighbor. Jesus is a good Jewish man!! He expounded on the commandments and summed them up. He also got to the heart of the issue when he said that lusting after someone (who is not your spouse) is as sinful as committing the act, and that hating your brother is as wrong as murdering him! Jesus is a good rabbi!

Thank you so much for clarifying this, as a practicing Catholic I 100% agree with what you said. The rabbi says at the beginning of the show, "A person who has an immoral desire and takes control over that (immoral desire) and refuse to express it behaviorally is actually in someways holier than a person who didn't have that desire to begin with." Do you think this is this convulting statment?? Mastering ones immoral desire is one thing but after mastering it it is okay or even demanded that IT is expressed behaviourally?? Really?? And then, it is also commendable as in better than---the rabbi actually claim it is holier---one who never struggle with his or her immoral desire??
I for one is very buffled, 2 say the least. IT is either one struggle ones immoral desire and subdue it and máster it or in expressing it, it remains immoral or isn't??
The other thing is that: how is it Adam before the fall is holier than Adam after the fall??
I do understand that this difficult dialéctical issue of desire (inner struggle or need) and action ( expression of this desire). Which of us are not without this tensión. But deep down, the rabbi's teaching very much differ from Logos-centered Christianity. Talmudic Judiasm is a religion of law not of Love. Hence, a despert need for this rabbi accept Jesús Christ and teach from the reality of Love as revealed in Logos made flesh.

    • @nomorecensoringme

We are 'miles apart'. You'd have to intricately study the wealth of Judaism to know that. You took the Torah, given to us directly by G-d, changed its name to mean "book", worked words to mean other things, even the names of the books, telling us the NT surpasses what G-d gave to us directly. That's not 'miles apart'? Your perspective is interesting.

Thanks for your insight from a Judaism standpoint. :)
In addition to what you said about deliberate thoughts, there’s also what Samuel told King Saul about how rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft and stubbornness as idolatry (1 Sam 15:23), which for me, as a Christian, relates to what Jesus said about lusting being as adultery.
As for the part about how pornography affects marriage and intimacy, there’s Malachi 2:11-16 (where God disapproved of divorcing wives in order to marry another), Proverbs 5, specifically verses 15-21 (where a man is supposed to be faithful to his wife and avoid a strange woman), and Job 31:1 about making a covenant with the eyes.
Then, just stepping back and looking at Israel before the Babylonian captivity, the children of Israel had abandoned God to serve Baal, which included Ashtoreth worship (aka Ishtar). Ashtoreth worship involved pornography (as in the “sacred” texts about her were highly graphic and many of her images were of her naked or disrobing). Why, as a Jew, would you want to meddle with something that helped contribute to the fall of Israel and got your ancestors kicked out of the Holy Land? (Yes, I realize there is more to Israel’s pre-captivity rebellion and idolatry than *just* the sexual immorality and temple prostitution, but my point stands.)

The way I have learned to look at the difference between action and intention: Let’s say there is the most gentle, kind person who wouldn’t hurt a fly, and yet accidentally caused the death of a person. He would feel very sorry for the harm he had caused. On the other hand, there is a person who wishes he could kill very frequently, but never did actually! He hasn’t affected the world in such a blatant way, but in his inner world, he is far from a righteous person. G-d wants us to work on our inner and outer worlds. In the ideal person, they would match perfectly! But I think that Dennis Prager is right in emphasizing that the outer world is of primary importance.

I hope you or one of your brethren will reach out to Dennis to clear this up for him. I know for a fact that viewing pornography is not only addicting, but the more your brain gives you the dopamine high with the porn, the more you crave and you will start down a path of degenerate watching and the things you watch or desire to see will get worse and worse. I won't go into details, I'm petty sure everyone knows about that. I just want to say you have given me relief with your rebuke of his attitude toward this sin. I hope you reach out to him because if this is what he's telling husbands and wives, this is ruining marriages and hurting people. I can't imagine why he would say this type of thing unless he himself has an addiction that he can't overcome. Also I am very glad you explained the difference between having a thought pop up in your head, or indulging in that thought. It took awhile for me to become aware of this but now when a thought pops up that is unwanted I rebuke it in the name of God and forsake it immediately and it goes away. Sometimes you need to focus on something different to make it go away, depending on if you are at rest or busy doing something. It takes awhile too, sometimes to become aware of when the thought pops up. The Spirit of God helps you with this process. It is always best to read your scripture every day.
