  • I mean it didn’t work out for me but I did create a ripple lol.
Word spread far and wide that some A hole 🙋‍♂️asked the Commandant to promote them in front of an entire unit.
Listen, you’ll never know unless you ask.
If I can risk dodging bullets, I can ask a simple question.
Snagged a sick coin out of the deal.
Thank you for watching. I started this journey of personal development when I retired early from the Marines. I served as a Marine Raider (MARSOC) for over 15yrs and when it was over, I was beyond lost.
I let the job I consumed myself with become my identity and when it was over I set on a journey to find me. The real me. My best version.
Follow along and watch me share my truth as I set out to create my own personal journey in this life by showing others they can do the same!

During my early career I was at ft polk for JRTC and was looking for my platoon after returning from an errand.
I walked into the wrong company area and their Top calls me out and asks who I am and what Im doing in his company area.
I replied Im looking for my men , to which he responded that I was a PFC (E3) and had no men.
I got offended by that and stared into his eyes and replied, In this man's Army I am my brother's keeper and every infantryman is my brother so therefore I have men I am responsible for and I take that duty very seriously. Hoo-ah.
He paused while reconsidering me and told me that he would remember me and that we need more Soldiers whom think like that.
He shook my hand then politely told me get out of his area and get back to my men.

All my friends who told me to enlist in the Corps came back zombies especially a f navy forward observer. I worked for the VA in the 70’s saw a lot sad cases from every war including Medal of Honor recipients back to Korea. Very very crazy stuff. . I had a Medal Of Honor recipient roommate for awhile. He was very aggressive. Jumped on a grenade and lived. His accounts rang so true.

@DeleteTheTalmud there a lot of poseurs telling war stories about combat and if you have served you know they are the wrong age or are non combatants. When I was being discharged a lot of my fellow Marines were running to the PX to buy medals but at least they served. I worked at the VA for 9 years with Medal of Honor recipients guys with bad physical and mental wounds. Eventually they would tell you about combat, how they lost a limb whatever. These stories sounded real like that was how you might of reacted actually coming face to face with the enemy how a guy won the Medal of Honor silver star Purple Heart etc. liars will tell multiple exploits how bad as they were how many times they got shot and lived. Civilians eat it up but real soldiers pity them and move on. The absolutely worst thing you should ask a serviceman is did he kill anyone. Fists might start throwing at that one.

@@Whichwaydidtheygomy childhood best buddy did 2 tours in Iraq and 2 in Afghanistan from 03-05 Iraq and around 13 to 15 in the afghan. His first oh shit im going home in a coffin was in Falluja. He had missed the first attempt at the city due to a medical concern that ended up being nothing but later was told it was a blessing. To which he told me “a blessing would have been ANYONE to have discouraged me from enlisting like a idiot” . one night when we went night fishing and he just began telling what he had kept bottled up for several years. I had only seen him cry once from when we were 10 when he jumped from roof into pool and didn’t quite make the water. But that was crying from physical pain. When he spoke about what he and many others did he wept uncontrollably for what felt like an eternity. He admitted to feeling completely numb, bloodthirsty even justified at the time but much later the things they did came back in vivid detail fueled by viewing footage he never thought existed. He said “we were fucking monsters who had absolutely no right to even step foot in the home and country. But what did we do? We fucking slaughtered and leveled their towns and places of worships. They were Nobel in their efforts for defending their land the best they could given what they were up against. We are going to pay dearly for what we did, in this life or the next”
He didn’t really discuss the things he witnessed and took part in detail but I saw it in his eyes and heard it from his mouth. He never put allowed healing and forgiveness to take hold. We talked after that night only two more times. Both times bumping into each other at 7-11 on our separate ways to work. Last thing he said to me was “don’t be a stranger”
I wish I would have known the future. I wish would have not purposely ignore his last calls to me. That night on the lake was extreamly heavy shocking for a sheltered fool like me and I didn’t want to believe it. After he decided to check out I’ve developed a deep resentment towards those who orchestrated death on so many for their own gain and power. And the vets keep going the route my buddy Butch took. Why ?

This is not an insult it’s just the cold hard truth, honestly I get kind of sick and cringe even when I hear so many of my brothers online or on tv talk about how they have PTSD, and even all the folks saying thank you for protecting my freedom when in reality we have done absolutely nothing even close to worthy of that title considering what my brothers who came before me did in the trenches or on the beaches in their finest hour, those are warriors forged in the crucible of bravery itself, now how bad you reckon their ptsd was, they probably didn’t come home talking it up about hoorahh this and story about this to get a salute at the grocery store either

This right here man. I take this attitude with so many things. Particularly when it comes to asking for raises. I'll ask every 4-6 months for a raise. Even if they say no then as you keep asking they will begin to think that they can't keep saying no or they'll lose you to another business.

I ask once every 3 months, and make comments daily about needing more money to raise my family. I dont care if it makes them uncomfortable or feel like we're no longer a good fit. They aren't a good fit for me if they arent going to let me make enough to take care of my family. Granted i havent gotten to a point where its enough, then maybe I'll back off to twice or three times a year.

... but that statement is generalizing and the ones that come back like that are typically the ones that saved somebody's ass. You can't send just anyone to do what Marines are typically taxed with. The history reveals they were often asked to do what only a crazy person would do, so not surprised why some come back the way they do. Yes, all are Marines but some in my unit I noticed were just better prepared for the insurmountable stress then others...
