I was privileged to receive a paddle from my old boss who was a MARSOC Marine (I'm Army). When presenting it, he gave me the significance of it as well as what all of the colors represent. I was truly honored and currently have it hanging in my man-cave as one of my most precious belongings.
Never heard of gifting a paddle.

The paddles are beautiful man. I fucked up my time in the Corps and I could say it's probably my only regret but regardless, I know that once you're out, the world ain't gonna hold your hand so I'm finding purpose again and it makes me feel good. LCpl 23d Marines HQ Co 2014-2017

To the people that say, “Must be nice.” You need to be honest with yourself and say, “I don’t see/find the “gold” in the work/struggle as attractive as the end result.”
I have been there too.
As I matured, I found my truth to be the value is in the “struggle”.
That’s where the problem solving skills grow.
When my sons come to me and tell me they have a “problem” I tell them to stop.
I tell them they have an opportunity. And make them say that back to me and then I tell them “what can you do to improve your situation?” and then I make them say that back to me until they figure out a course of action. It may not always be the best for the correct, but there is learning to be had and that’s always nice!

stacked as fuck. when i was in you guys were my heroes. when we saw guys like you, my friends and me were like "holy shit a unicorn". then again i still get really depressed thinkin back on my time, because i felt like i didnt do anything important or made a difference. idk its a weird feeling

I would encourage every veteran to have a shadow box or hang up any farewell award they may have received just to remember what they accomplished. It is therapeutic to stop and appreciate what you have done in the military, especially if you take time and learn the history of the units that you served in knowing that you will always be part of that legacy. Great video.
I agree. My wife did mine for me and I never realized what I accomplished until she laid it all out in the shadow box. Now I see it often and remember what I achieved and still want to do more in the civilian life.

Thanks for your service. I am a retired CW4 aviator, I spent 28 years in the Army before retiring in 2011. Of course I did the contractor thing for a few years after retirement, mostly flying Embassy staff and providing gun support for the DEA in Afghanistan. One thing I have noticed about former Marines, they display all of their awards and gifts from units on their walls in their houses. If you were to walk into my house you would have never known that I serviced in the military, I have nothing up. I have a binder with all my awards, a couple of boxes with medals, and the gifts are somewhere in the house in a closet somewhere probably. Just an observation I have made. Every and I mean without exception Marines house I have ever been in, they always have a "I love me wall", I am not using that term in a disparaging way, just what we called it when I was in the Army.

In my time 85/93 ( yeah here we go, old guy) the term "Raider" was a absolute no go. We all knew who they were what they did and its sacred (WW2)., never to be fucked with or resurrected. In our hearts we all considered our selves raiders...just never verbally. I'm glad its now acknowledged now. Cody you and your Marines are the best of the best. Lance corporal mafia honors leaders like you. 3/6 super squad. E-3 to E-5 and back to E-3 in four months.
Much love from an Army guy (19K30K4 - M1A2SEPv2 Tank commander). I have nothing but the utmost respect for our Marine brothers. especially for us in the Army who were OPCON to II MEF in 2007 for 15 months. I met a bunch of special operations guys from all branches (was a big operation to track an HVT target) that came on 2 sea stallions on that deployment. Buch of cool guys but hardcore when it came down to business.

Love that you mention everybody supports the men and women on the ground. I was an 0111 and yeah we get a lot of crap for screwing stuff up but I always tried to be as accurate and timely as I could be. My section handled recon Marines at times and Marines deploying to Afghanistan and Syria. I always told myself and my Marines that we need to do our best so they can do their best out there. It was the reality of our MOS. SF Cody.

Bro I work with Children for a living in Mental Health and deal with the Worst of the Worst in School Districts. My Job is to teach them self Control and Self Restraint.. Tier 3 Scholars who need Structure and Discipline.. Trauma is serious and affects us all in different ways. It is great to see you following your dreams and keeping your head up above water considering what you have gone through in your young career.. I started my own program after working for a Company So Many Years.. I want to take my business to the next level and see that you offer consultations if im not mistaken to help individuals do just that.. I need a little direction and I'm not scared of growing, I think I'm just lost on what the next step should be. I would like more information if possible to speak with you about what steps I should take next. Thanks 🙏

I was the same way with the Army when I was a kid! I wasn’t nearly as high speed as you brotha, but I accomplished what I set out to! I wish I had gone to more schools but I’m happy with the ones I got, proud of the unit I served in. Climb to Glory!!

Semper Fi Brother! Love that! Defy the Norm! I live by that philosophy as well and go for the things I want in life. Surviving two tours in Iraq with 1/7 "Suicide Charley" changed my perspective on what I wanted in life. Hahahaha Quick question for you man; do you Raiders have a nickname for your Raider device? Like the way the Navy Seal's call theirs the "Budweiser"? Always been curious about that. All the best bro!
