      i have the same problem with most of my birds.this gets even harder when they are more than one
      If i find anything about this subj i will definitely make a video about it
      But generally i think its usual for them to avoid being in the cage

    I do usually let mine out around 17:00 (5:00 pm). In the Beginning I've let them out earlier but it turned out to be way too bad because they can be quite hard to get them back into their Cage when I need to go somewhere. A Video that explains how to train them to get back inside, would be useful

      Hmm does it have a favourite treat that it can do anything for so you can put that treat on the cage or if it’s comfortable on you it can fly to you when it sees the treat and then you can cover the front of its face gently with your other hand so it doesn’t decide to flight and so maybe it works or maybe if it eats seeds you can change the diet to pellets and that way the seed will become a treat for it.Usually my cockatiel can do anything for the pringles which are chips but it’s not good for the bird so I tempt it with the chips and when it gets in the cage I give it it’s other favourite treat which are seeds and I don’t give the pringles.

      I have seen tiny leashes that fit round the foot. The bird was not bothered by it at all. Hope this helps. Obviously, be extremely gentle.

      I didn’t teach her to step up before I let her out of cage we are working on it now with help of millet and coriander sticks she is getting used to my hands when I was getting her the breeder asked if we want her wings trimmed and I didn’t know any better at that point and said yes now I really regret that I feel bad I think It affected her confidence too I’m waiting for her to mold so her wings will be back to normal

    Can anyone help me out?
    Whenever I take my cockatiel out they straight away fly all the way up to the curtains even though they are handtammed and once they go up it's very hard to bring them back without scaring them or grabbing them

    • @theamazingcockatiels
      @theamazingcockatiels  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cockatiels love height, I've read something that the higher they sit the more their rank in the flock would be.
      Try this
      When he flies up somewhere, put his favorite food somewhere on the ground.
      You can put sth scary where your bird likes to fly to,but i don't recommend it

    • @_RosEXx
      @_RosEXx 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Usually when my cockatiel does that it comes back down itself but I understand your situation cuz when I had budgies they used to go up to the curtains and putting them in would be torture but if you have more than one cockatiel you should maybe take turns to take both of them out on the same day and if you have that problem with a single cockatiel you can put it’s favourite treat somewhere where they feel safe other than the heights and then you can wait.Also I say you don’t really grab them as then they will lose trust with you even if they are hand tamed and they will fly up bcuz they feel scared of you or if you have another family member that your bird is comfortable with,they can try and bring the bird down as birds have different reactions with different people.

      You can get tiny leashes that go round leg, does not seem to stress bird at all.
