well well well they have arrived! I head down to Alice Springs Toyota to have an in person look at the facelift LandCruiser! they look great in person in my opinion.
Ide love to grab a 2024 cab n fab to a 80 or 105 chassis for less than 1/2 the price and double the off road capability. I still drive my old 80 but would love a new 70 but the track on the diffs is what makes me not want to spend double the price of what these 4wds are worth.. They look nice but what I want is solid axle coil sprung triple locked manual windows no fancy shit vinyl floored landcruiser for about $40k aussie coins. guess im a dreamer but they would sell hundreds of thousands of them
I think it’s way better looking than the previous ones to be honest. I wasn’t originally feeling that way, but this retro look is actually more stylish to be honest
Mate %100, well said that's what I was trying to get at when I said it seems more modern, when you see it in person it just looks better, I miss the old bonnet it's nice. But It's absolutely fine without it, cheers
@@OutbackOffroadNT yeah I definitely like the old bonnet too, but I think this actually looks better. I sold my 2020 troopy just too big and heavy for my use, and planned on getting a 76 instead. I definitely will be now with this new look. Admittedly I’m going to probably only have the option for the 2.8, but I’m not towing so I don’t care. The latest 2.8 actually go alright in the hilux. Enjoy man. I’m jealous 😎
Yeah fair enough man, the 2.8 will be fine I reckon mate, and yes my current hilux goes great with that engine, I've got it in manual, goes good. 76 series are awesome 👌
In Papua New Guinea they have been in country for a month now with the 1HZ version. Pretty basic was our version though. In my opinion its just exactly the same as the previous version, no wheel allighnment correction. The only downside, since I have owned one (the previous versions) and taken them off road constantly, is the front grill. This new version, the gaps are much wider and will be a problem in deep water crossings where floating debris will get through and do damage to the radiator.
Hi mate, the 1HZ is a good reliable engine, I miss it to be honest. That's interesting and a good point about the grille letting debris in, I'd say it will be good for cooling though, good airflow. Cheers 🍻
Gee, some of the comments on here are some very unhappy individuals that will never be happy. There’s never any need to be nasty. I love the look of this thing. My personal taste is this truck/Ute of yours and the wagon which would be great for me. Best looking out of all the LandCruisers in my opinion. Awesome content
Congratulations on the new rig mate. My wife and I have been waiting since June 2022 for a dual cab 79 and still nothing. Was told by Toyota it could be at least another year until we get it.
Thankyou mate, yeah I was expecting to be waiting another year to, i ordered when you did, I do know that some dealers get allocated more stock then others, here in Alice Springs we obviously have plenty of cruisers getting around. Sometimes you can get lucky if someone has cancelled their order. Cheers
Shortages and picking up cancelled orders have happened before the current dramas. Got my single cab 79 in early 2009. Back then with the GFC cancelled orders I could get a white GXL no diff locks straight away or I could go on the waiting list and then Fukushima happened and deliveries stopped. Be flexible. Get what will do the job and make the most of it with no regrets. Just my 2 cents worth. Opinions vary. I did want dark blue and factory diff locks but am happy with how it turned out.
Yeah fair enough mate, I love it, the black grille, flares and wheels just set it off so much better. Miss the scoop but not a deal breaker, I was on the fence a little, then I saw it up close and appreciated it.
Tragically, no, not in the US. I have to watch Aussie videos to see them, and nearly anything with a diesel engine other than a ute (pickup truck). I suppose range is valued a bit more down under than here. Is that because the average distance between gas stations is greater there? I don’t know.
Oh okay that makes sense, distances are vast here, it can be 1000km between anywhere in some places, typically if your heading into the bush, very remote places you need to be extremely self sufficient.
Great choice you cannot beat the v8 manual😊 They will eventually discontinue the v8 diesel Replace it with that City care 2.8 4 Cylinder Yours will skyrocket in price
I live in the uk I only wish we had the choice of the 4.5 V8 diesel manual in the uk Unfortunately our engines are getting smaller Every year Only Puftas Will buy 2.8
Got a Sandy Taupe on order - but 4cyl... Going to put the Graphite colour coded steel tray on it so it breaks the colour up a bit. Oh, and yep, I'll go the Toyota bar for the same reason. My farm is Kangeroo city - despite the 223 working OT.
Beautiful mate, something different I like it, I was going to build my own tray and paint it black. Plans changed I still will build one down the line, yep there's always plenty of roos around.
Hey just saying they did make the 40/60/70 series with a 4cylinder so it’s not all bad, remember the 3B 3.4 litre. My dad had one in a shorty 40 with a huge turbo, mega lag, lots of black smoke, was a demon off road.
Mate as I was recording the vid I was thinking about this haha, your dead right. I think it'll be tough for some to get used to though especially for the price, cheers
Intercooler in same spot mate, its running a similar setup to the 200 series, air tunnels run under the bonnet onto intercooler, gets its air from the top of the grille
I wish I could head down to my local Hawai’i Toyota dealer to buy one like yours. I might want a more basic one as long as it has A/C I miss the simplicity of my Dad’s 1995 Tacoma (US Hilux) 5-spd manual, hand crank windows and manual locks. It was an Xtra cab 4x4 V6 and he sold it to a friend of my sister when the engine lost compression on a cylinder in 2017 and got a Double Cab (crew cab) short bed (5’) SR 4-cylinder 4x2. I really want to get an Access Cab 4x4 but the only ones available are TRD Off Road at $40,000+tax, the 2024 is losing the clamshell doors.
Our Hilux has always been a good solid vehicle. The older rigs were so good, the 75 series LandCruiser was awesome, and I used to have one. I honestly wish I owned one now as well. I do love these v8 70's they are a great 4x4. It's still very basic really, though the workmate version has vinyl flooring winding windows, etc...
@@OutbackOffroadNT after I watched an Andrew St Pierre’s video on his 4-cylinder order, I went and did a dream build on Toyota Australia. I did a Troopy and both single and dual cab Utes. I like the simplicity and less electronics to break with crank windows, but it was a pain to roll up/down he passenger window in the 1995, lucky it wasn’t too large. It was just not fun getting caught in a cloud burst and try to roll it up driving down the road.
It's fun to dream isn't it, but I feel bad for you not being able to have your dream rig. I've been there myself, I'm greatful for my LandCruiser. Ahh the joys of windy windows haha
Wait, so is this is a manual V8? I didn't think we would see one of these for a while given the halt on production? Only way i could see one being in the wild this early is if someone opted to upgrade and then cancelled there order when it was already on the way to the dealer
@@OutbackOffroadNT Yeah that makes sense now. Got told mine will be in town next week, so i'll give you an update on first thoughts with the Auto and couldn't agree more on your opinion around moving away from V8 after orders are fulfilled, i think the V6 will be the new top of the range.
Im not going to lie ive giving the 70 series abit of shit over the years more so for the price and how basic they are but we all have to admit toyotas just keep on going!! Enjoy the new rig mate 💪
What is the deal with that front bumper? Why is it so large and sticking out like a parcel shelf? Why is the hood (bonnet) has those bumps like it has supercharged LS3? I would have to modify both if I ever found one in Europe.
I just heard word that the V8 won't be available in NZ? Isn't the V8 the only one with a manual box? So we can't get a manual 70 in NZ anymore? Please tell me I watched Fox by mistake?
🤣 farout yeah well I honestly think the v8 is on its last legs here in Australia to, if and when they stop making it the already insane prices will sky rocket 🚀
No brainer. Don't need to upgrade wheels, headlights, steering wheel, radio and wheel flares are black! hello! No window quarter panel. Breathers at 900mm. You can have auto. 4 cyl economy, catch can and no need to tune but can go 200hp 600nm like the Hiluxes. It's all much betterness. ;)
