After watching dozens of vibrato tutorials, finally, your meticulous yet simple instructions made me feel that I could learn vibrato if I follow through... (I am an adult beginner learning by myself) Thank you!!
I've been teaching myself violin for a couple of years but have been a bit scared of vibrato. I'm definitely going to learn it this year. Your videos have all been a great help to me.
Thank you for this!!! I am really looking forward to the rest of your series on vibrato. I will practice these exercises and be ready when the next video comes out!
Thank you for your interest and appreciation. So glad it helps you 💙 We have a guide available you may enjoy: fiddlehed.com/blog/how-to-play-violin-an-illustrated-beginners-guide-fiddlehed/
Awesome video! Question - I'm missing the top half-inch of my left middle finger, so I don't think I'll ever be able to vibrato with that finger (I put gorilla glue on the tip of it to help with traction when fingering). Do you think this will greatly hinder my ability to become a really good fiddle player?
Hey Jason, I recognize the song that you are playing at the beginning of this video, but I can't place it. Can you share the name of the song? (Also, do you happen to have any tutorials for learning to play this song?)

when I first tried vibrato, the same thing happened to me! it is a very slow process for me, as I'm beginning my 6th year of playing and still can barely jiggle the fingers on my left hand to make a very tiny tone shift. I've decided that it will come someday and It can't be rushed. I know how much better I'll play when it happens, so I'm trying to be patient - and still practicing it a lot. It helps to play a slow tune, very slowly and also to just practice random notes on each string without worrying about a tune. hope this helps!
