    Few little things you missed. The tyres were almost 10 years old as well and the wrongful death before it was sealed stated that a mechanical failure in either the gearbox or brake system cause the car to loose control. They sealed it up tight though and no info available. The gt was known for 2 major failure. The 2.men who died at the track they suspect a failure in the braking system as well.
    It was truely a window maker of a car. There isn't many left due to them all being crashed.

      Thank you so much! I dug looking for an explanation of the many deaths caused by this car and I couldn’t find much.
      Edit: Also I made a mistake with the 0-60 time, it’s actually 3.5 seconds not 2.8

      @@gridmeet9602 yeah Porsche are pretty renowned for silencing the family members etc with closed door deals after their deaths. Porsche do some shady shit to make sure their brand doesn't suffer.
      Back in the 80s and early 90s and 911 turbo had a similar reputation for failures and being crazy hard to handle on the limit. If you step out for even a second you were Gunna have a bad day.
      I vividly remember as a kid a black 911 wide body ripping past my father and I on a road trip one year and 10 mins later I saw the car a jumble wreck on the side of the road. Ambos and police on scene etc.
      A few very famous people passed away due to the 911s horrible rep as being a widow maker. They hadn't nailed the rear engine issues yet, Porsche were always considered a driver's car even back in the 80s and 90s. They got it all under control for a while until they released the GT.
      Even back then Porsche had a business reputation of making sure the families and friends kept quiet about about the accidents and that they would never go to the press stuff like that. Just hard balling people basically. Here's heaps of money now shut up and sign it basically.
      Porsche now are amazing cars but back then they were quirky and dangerous. At least that's the stories I heard. The gt was ment to be a leap fwd but also a throw back to those times. Unfortunately it resulted in deaths due to the power levels of the gt. A rigid chassis, twitchy handling and lots of power were always going to be a disaster for those who are not skilled enough to handle it. Roger rodus the guy driving the gt with Paul in the passenger seat, was an experience driver for Porsche. He knew how to drive them hard. So I always suspected a mechanical failure at the worst possible time. He didn't even slow down as he plowed into the trees something was wrong. But that's my theory from knowing the gt platforms rep for failures at bad times. If anyone else beside Roger was driving I would have said driver error but not with someone like him behind the wheel.
      That and the wrongful death was settled out of court after meadow had a inspector go over the car head to toe and it came out he determined mechanical failure as the cause. Next thing the suit is settled. So he found something for sure not good for porsche.
      PS loving the vids lately killing it.

    By “little tread” on the tyres I assume you mean semi racing slicks? In which case, they would give more grip in dry warm conditions, not less.

    • @gridmeet9602
      @gridmeet9602  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe they were actually summer tires, I didn’t go to in depth but the tires were around 10 years old, I don’t think they were slicks.

    I still don’t get it they were both race car drivers but lost control makes me want to do that exact same drive at 100mph cause surely not a racer can control a car at speeds like that on such an easy corner

    I love cars don't get me wrong but they deserve to be treated with respect and not abused, Paul and Roger would still be it here if Roger would treat the car as well as road with respect simple as that, even so people still don't learn from this mistake, 9 years after Paul's and Roger's deaths a mirage GT crashed in new York few of years ago why ? because the owner was being Reckless and irresponsible, never ever think your above the roads law's because if you do the consequences can be deadly and dangerous, always treat the car as well as road with respect also always selfless and think about who's with you in the car also the public etc

    I wonder if the average person/family would have been able to secure a wrongful death lawsuit against Porsche !!!

    • @gridmeet9602
      @gridmeet9602  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Porsche probably paid the family out as the publicity of a lawsuit is worse than the legal cost. If it was anyone else, they would have rang you dry with legal fees.
