      @@darvinclement3250 I just picked up the Straight edge 9070BK model. No blade play, blade centered, and I like the lock. I love the powdered CPM steel. Grivery lightens the knife and will be more practical on a military blade or heavy use. Zero problems. Hated it when I got it. Flew out of my hand. I'm liking the way it rocks when you push the button. Bam. I like it.

    My sister got me this knife for my birthday recently. First of many Benchmade's I'll own and I love it so much! Everyone I've let open it, dropped it on the first open. blade fell straight down on concrete and tile and it held up like a champ (obviously) Great knife for the price, highly recommend it!

    • @Patriot-rising
      @Patriot-rising ปีที่แล้ว

      Because it was dropped by so many onto concrete and tile you recommended this? Are they all retiling a bathroom or putting in a driveway? I mean dropping a knife doesn't really enforce a safe picture here.. How does it hold up when dropped on a hardwood floor is what we all want to hear..
      Just kidding , but happy to know I live far enough away from you . Hope you have good medical insurance. Might wish to invest in life flight as well.

    I’d love to have one of these. The serrations don’t bug me one bit. They make great feather sticks, they can act as a makeshift saw, they work great for cutting roots, and they demolish man-made materials. My only problem is that I’m completely addicted to this damn Microtech Ultratech at the moment so the Claymore would sit until I get tired of the Ultratech. Lol

    At my local knife shop they are big on people freely handling the knives. I watched them hand one of these to a guy and as soon as he hit the button it launched out of his hand. They picked the knife up and handed it back to the customer so he could do the exact same thing again…. It caused damage to the knife and he just shrugged and decided to buy nothing there.

    I have had this knife for a couple days now. The handles do feel sort of cheap. I like G10 and aluminum handles mostly. A metal backspacer with a pommel and or glass breaker would be cool instead of the plastic one. I do like the knife though, cool theme as well.

    I purchased the Griptilian about 10 years ago and the only thing I didn't like about it was the fact that the blade rolled. It still wasn't hard enough. Being an older guy I was used to high carbon steel knives that were much harder and held an edge much longer. Recently I decided I would buy a new pocket knife . After trying several different knives none of which were bench made, I decided to buy a Benchmade Claymore. Best decision I ever made. The CPM D2 steel is much better than a lot of the new steels. Although this deal is not stainless it is much harder and has much better Edge retention. Play Moore is a great knife, I couldn't be happier. Next time I'll stick with benchmade.

    I use the safety mechanism on my Claymore and other knives as much to lock the blade open as well as closed.
    EDC, I keep it locked on my pocket until I enter a 'condition orange' when I'll dip into my pants, unlock the knife and check my other gear.

    My office mate has this knife; it fires so unexpectedly hard that it flipped out of my hand the first time he handed it to me. I feel like the knife is too light for the amount of spring pressure. The serrations are a curious choice (to be the only choice).

    I got the 2022 plain edge version and I like it but I wish they would have gone CF Elite for the handle. I personally do not like grivory, g10 or aluminum. The former two because they remind me of plastic, even though maybe they technically are not and the latter because it's more slippery compared to literally every other handle option I'd consider. Carbon fiber would be ideal but that would break the bank even more than a normal Benchmade already does. Mine has very minor up/down blade play strictly due to the plunge lock.

    I feel a safety on an automatic knife is the user's choice. However one should get used to either using it always or never. Same psychology as handguns. If you use the safety always use the safety then your motor skills are repeatable even under stress. The first autos I saw with safeties were from Boker and I believe the intent was to satisfy a military requirement, particularly for someone parachuting as part of their mission. In that scenario the safety could play an important role.
    As far as Grivory and G10 goes, the latter is far more rigid and slightly heavier. I don't believe that Grivory is equivalent to glass reinforced nylon which might have been a better choice here. Just received delivery on my Claymore today and I like it, "mushroom head" and all! 😎👍🗡️

    Some of those things that don't make sense on this knife are Claymore mine specific choices. The area behind the blade looks like the blasting cap setting tool. I don't like grivery either, but I think it is on purpose to match the plastic material on the outside of the mine. Or maybe that is me post hoc rationalizing the choice.

    • @CKshouta
      @CKshouta 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Grivory is the correct choice if you want the lightest possible package. It does make more sense to buy the OD version to really match a claymore mine LOL

    I purchased this a couple of weeks ago to replace my Casbah. I lost it…somewhere I loved that knife but the clip was crappy. I’m left handed but carry and use my right hand. I like the snappiest of the opening honestly. I have the mini reflex ll as well but it never got much carry time. Right now I’m carrying my mini bugout. I like this one better nothing will take the place of my blue handled Casbah-minus the clip. I don’t use the safety.
    I have small hands and it fits me fine. I’m glad my state doesn’t care about autos. Besides as a woman carrying this knife and bringing it out to use it for something it seems to scare some men lol. At least my Casbah did. 😊

It is there so morons do not face them the wrong way. Nothing like a friendly kill from about 2 - 100 meters at about a 60 degree horizontal arc.

    OK value at $200, or less. My hands aren't particularly sensitive, but there are some mildly irritating sharp edges, easily felt between the scales. Paint on the blade is rough and grainy, but easily smoothed out with a scrubber pad. Opened 2 longnecks, and can already see the coating chipping off the spine. Used a sphericle dremel bit to relieve the inside edges of the scales, so it's much more comfortable in hand. Needs another 8-10mm of blade, but BM is now too woke to offer folders over 3.5". Submitted review on the BM site last week, but it has not been posted, and probably won't be :(

    The name of the knife is called claymore, which is a military weapon. Operators down range would appreciate the versatility of partial serrations more than being able to shave a grape with the bottom half of a blade edge. It's purpose built to military use, but sold commercially so the tacticool role players can play pretend. I understand questioning why there is only partial serrations, but that might be due to Benchmade not expecting the knife to sell well enough commercially to warrant multiple blade variations. Also I believe the in between company for Crucible is Niagara Specialty Metals or something close to that.

    Safety had nothing to do with that. It’s about staying above reproach much like a New York trigger or an HK LEM trigger. The goal is for a reliable auto for LEO that won’t cause them frustration in court. Thus the safety. As someone in law enforcement they pick apart our equipment when something goes south. That’s why we don’t customize or sidearms.

    I have never understood the appeal for a single action out the side auto. The fact that you need 2 hands to close it is so inconvenient and annoying.

      That’s why I love button locks and similar. So quick and easy to open, cut the thing, close and repocket with no fuss.

      @Duffelbag Drag Wait you're arguing that a out the side auto is safer? And you're also telling me you can close one with 1 hand? I would love a demonstration. I have large size hands and I would never even attempt to close a knife that way. I can picture how but of you slip that knife is going flying.

      @Duffelbag Drag Well ok whatever you say. I mean if you want to talk safety then a button lock flipper would be safer than even that. Or a dual otf. You never need to place any part of a blade near your body ever. Especially under spring tension.

    The biggest deal breaker is the flimsy handle. Thats why I sold it a few days after getting it. I loved the action of it, the steel and handle shape. But for that price they should have used G10 instead of the cheap plastic they use.

    Out of almost all the Benchmade autos I own this is one of my least favorites. I do own a non serrated which is about the only thing I appreciate about this knife. I mean the 9400 and other great models like the Presidio and Rukus II are much much better knives believe me. And the Infidels are decent as well if you like OTF knives. Even though I feel Protech and Hawk are the forerunners in this field.
    Funny thing is Benchmade claimed it was their strongest design today in their auto line. I wholeheartedly disagree with them. But hey that is my opinion right? We will just throw my combat experience out of the window and believe what Benchmade tells us to believe. Right?
    As for serrations. They always seem to come out with these models most. The reasoning behind this is most military personnel need a knife for cutting many different materials and serrations come in quite handy . But once we leave the service the serrated knives are not as necessary and I myself gravitate towards non serrated. Easy to sharpen and you do not need either a ceramic or diamond rod anymore. They also supply most law enforcement with the same serrations. I guess so when they drop these on their feet it creates a much better scar for war stories later in life.
    Also the safety is mainly there because most soldiers pack these in TV their vests and quite often are in a situation where they are shouldering or what we call at rest which has been known to deply these blades. Yes they are fun to remove from your LBV when this happens.

    If it was 100 dollars cheaper I would consider buying it. At the price point it just doesn’t seem worth it.

    Having a serrated blade and plastic handle would be enough to rule this knife out at $200, even if it was legal to carry in my state.

    The definition, according to New Mexico law, for a switch blade is a blade that is deployed with a mechanism not attached to the blade itself. Thats why assisted knives are ok because you use a thumbstud or flipper to deploy them. So a push button, otf, an axis lock by definition, etc are all technically illegal

    I'd consider one without the serrations and with a recessed button.

    Another plastic frame knife from Benchmade. No thanks. If I get anything from Benchmade in the future, it better have full length liners.
