    That is the best explanation of the differences between auto and assisted knives. Personally, I avoid both, but that explanation is spot on!👍🏻👍🏻

    Thanks for the review, Aaron. I wish manual versions would be offered more routinely for those of us who can't carry autos (that's the only real prohbition here).

    Good review of the Claymore, never owned or used one before, looks pretty sweet though! I’ve been following your channel for knife reviews for a while and your reviews are the best since you actually test the knives. If you get the chance to, you should do a hands on review of the Microtech MSI, if you’re able to get one anyways (as they’re difficult to get). It’s an awesome folder for sure!

    Assisted and the automatic are pretty much the same as far as how the spring works and the way they fire out. I like both of them, but the 2 are so close that it's always funny to me how the automatics are always more expensive. What can you say, the power of marketing.😂😂 Awesome video, brother 👍

      I think some of the price hike in autos is that because they are illegal in many places the market is a lot smaller. There for the prices are inflated to make a profit.

Love that diamond hand sharpener with that orange wrapped handle saw it on one of your old video’s and had to get it and I love it. I have alout of Benchmades and you can’t go wrong with them as well as Spyderco,ZT and Hogue knives in my opinion. FYI I also wear a medium woman’s size glove 😂. If I had a choice I’d pick the Protec auto don’t own any protec knives but they look grrrreat!!

    G'day Aaron. no autos allowed here, or assisted, but regardless of deployment method, I very much like the design in general. BM would do well to offer a manual version IMO, i.e. like a straight up long black espresso ; )
    Interesting that "Claymore", originally a Scottish sword, if memory serves, ended up naming a perimeter mine, and now back again as a folder; I guess there's a common thread, from a "front on, clearing", perspective ....... though I reckon it's drawing a long bow across the three, lol ..... In any event ... Laird Claymore and fam must be doing very well from royalties.
    Btw; for those of us suffering over zealous knife laws; what ever happened to filippers, I have couple that fly out, literally within a fraction of a second, of an auto, I reckon you'd be very hard pressed to even measure the difference.
    Incidentally, I let the Ruike Fang "rip", right next to my best mate, (g'day Stevo if you're watching), ..... just to cut up some burger veg around the "barbie" (BBQ), ..... he jumped out of his chair, ..... (never seen him move so fast, ..... with a few "frothies", (beers), on board anyway), ......followed by several expletives, ..... it wasn't my intention, ... my bad ..... but ....................... it was priceless, hehehe.
    An Opinel next time I think ; )
    Cheers Duke.

    I just picked up a Meatcrafter for 50 % off because Bass Pro lost the box and sheath . Can’t wait to carve up some fish and deer with it . Which came first ? The claymore or 06 auto ? They look eerily similar.

    Thanks again for a very informative vid. I am personally into assisted folders due to my hand arthritis. my regular EDC rotation is all assisted...Kershaw Dividend, CRKT LCK, and ZT 0566cm. But, after watching this vid, I am very interested in the Claymore Mini. I have medium hands so it would fit perfectly. I'll let you know what I think.

      If you like this size auto. Benchmade also offers a 2551 Mini-Reflex auto. Blade is 3.18" 154cm. Full flat grind. Aluminum scales. A little over 2 ounces. About the same price, maybe a couple dollars cheaper. Just my amateur 2 cents. My father had bad arthritis as well.

    I experimented with coffee for many year’s. In the end my preferences went back to a good blend of beans, no fluff just black. I noticed you using two hands to operate those blades...reminded me of why I disliked assisted knives. The claymore reminds me of a Glock with a safety. While I can appreciate plastic/polymer as a tool I much prefer say a Colt Python for that price. Correct me if I’m wrong but back in the day manufacturers steered away from CPM D2 because it didn’t offer a significant difference in performance from the standard D2 verses it’s cost...

    • @gideonstactical
      @gideonstactical  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    benchmade & spyderco are both on the crack pipe if they think im spending well over a hundred or 2 hundred bucks on a knife with a PLASTIC handle! ...i love my Gerber Downrange Propel Auto i got for just a tick over a hundred bucks & its American Made with G10 Scales (& NO deep carry pocket clip, i HATE deep carry pocket clips!) ...so Hard Pass on Over Priced knives with CHEAP PLASTIC handles, reguardless of what kinda fancy names the attach to it, cheap plastic is cheap plastic, call it what u will... they oughta be ashamed of themselves for charging those insane prices for inferior cheap materials... there again, regardless of the blade materials, the scales are kinda like the tires on ur car... if ur smart, u dont buy "cheap" tires, thats ur one & only point of contact... same thing with knife handle scales... always enjoy ur vids dude, thanx & god bless

      Get you a manix 2 LW, Sage5, Native 5 LW, Para 3 LW and you will understand. Also with spyderco above all other production knife brands.. you are paying for extremely dialed in factory heat treats.. want a knife that performs well as a knife for cutting and not just fidgeting... then buy spyderco and you will be assured an extremely high performance piece of steel.
