    I live vicariously through your reviews for knives like these, can't make myself spend this much on a knife but it looks freaking awesome.
    Also, glow in the dark back spacer is one of the best tactical advantages!

    I'm sure it's obvious to everyone that we are going to pay considerably more for a 100% USA made knife, especially if the materials are on a premium level. But as CM said we all make our own choices. I commend the channel to expose viewers to a broad variety of knives both in style and materials. I enjoy looking at most knives but stay strictly in my own budget lane when it comes to purchases.

    I remember watching your recent video on the Spyderco Tuff and you said that it was ugly. I thought it looked cool and would make a good work knife. I've now bought it and love it! I believe Wayne's Sharp World had it in his knives that make him happy video, and said to him it was a grail knife. The beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

  • @LarryGanz
    @LarryGanz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Picked one of these up brand new at BladeHQ for a fantastic price, and it's absolutely beautiful IRL. The CF scales have real visual depth to them, and the Damasteel blade is gorgeous with a very sharp and mirror polished edge. As a bonus, the completion date was on my 60th birthday this year! It's fun to fidget with, and snaps open really fast. I love it, and it makes a great gentleman's knife - it seems much more unique than my "budget" William Henry knife with Damascus steel.

    I have no problem sharing my opinions regarding pretty much anything, but I also don't expect any opinion I share to change someone's mind. I'm also not the type of person to show disdain or make disparaging comments about something that brings another person joy. I may say I don't like something or an aspect of something _FOR ME_ , but I fully acknowledge how that something or aspect of something might appeal to someone else.
    As for spending money on things that bring you joy, that's on everyone as individuals. One reason I watch YT reviews like MC and Nick Shabazz is to get insight on what is objectively good or bad about a product like knives. When they start rambling about subjective likes or dislikes, I generally stop paying attention to what they're saying (sorry guys LOL) and focus on the visual aspects of whatever they're reviewing. In the end, I make up my own mind whether I want to buy something or not, but the objective reviews from these gentleman can be a useful guide, and I appreciate that.

    I've always wanted to like the Tengu, I love tanto blades and this one looks really good. But they lost me with no pocket clip. Plus, if I'm going to spend $500+ on a tanto knife it's going to be either a Medford, Hinderer or Reeve. Thanks for the review tho, I was always curious about the Gold Class Tengu.

  • @Residentstrangr

    No pocket clip is not a problem for me for a beautiful knife like this. I often carry 2-3 pockets knives. Todays carry was a benchmade Osborne in carbon fiber which I took the pocket clip of and the carry profile is so much thinner and feels better in the hand. For me a somewhat small knife that you take your time taking out and using is useful in certain environments where pulling my xl cold steel folder or microtech might spook some people

      @@littlejackalo5326 I can understand that. People who just view the knife as a tool to be used and abused and when it gets broken thrown away are going to be squarely in what MC considers the 'budget' category of the knife world (the sub-$100 range probably even sub-$50 range). That said I know he puts a big emphasis on US made knives on the channel so whenever I see him reviewing something in the budget category it's probably made in china and usually hit the sweet spot between price and quality. It's why I went and bought a QSP Penguin as my first pocket knife and I don't regret it one bit. I'm thinking my next purchase will probably be a CIVIVI Ortis because I want to acquire a relatively inexpensive knife with a flipper tab next. My budget is certainly in the sub-$100 range at the moment but I can see the value in some of those $200-300 knives...

  • @Will-W
    @Will-W 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Noice Knife. It's very pretty. I really like the Damasteel. It's quality may be just fine, but I just don't dig the "Home Depot Paint Mixing Counter Floor" look of the scales. I like tanto blades, have the M4/Aluminum Bailout, great little slim knife (would be cool if it was a flipper).
    I'd probably go a different direction if I chose to drop $550 on a knife, but if one of those showed up in my stocking at Christmas I wouldn't be upset.

    The great thing about a free society is you can buy or not buy the knife of your choice. Personally, I love seeing these. They're outside of my budget, but if I didn't buy a few other mid-priced knives, I'd be able to pick up one of these on occasion. Hey, there's an idea. Tengu is shit for my day to day needs; would make a good wedding carry for when a buddy gets married. I love my Bugout with S90V and CF i honed the toothy edge off of the S90V and made it smooth and it’s perfect, mini adamas is amazing, personal favorite is the anthem as it’s what i bought myself as a graduation gift and used to cut my airbag and seatbelt when i rolled my car the other week. Good knives; i also own a few protechs and spydercos. I recommend benchmade heavily.

No big deal, and should not hurt anyone as long as they don’t belong to that category “indispensable goods or services”; things that most people need for their life or wellbeing. Barring that, what’s the harm. No problem whatsoever. I don't care about Benchmade anymore. Under, overpriced, my knife collection is 100% Benchmade Free.
    Oh, dayumn that knife is ugly.

    You go off on too many tangents rambling on about your little opinions that have nothing to do with the knife. Who needs a lecture about how you spend your money ? It would be enough to just say the price and leave it at that.

    Corny design, ugly handle scales, too small...not for me at any price. Nice review though.
