Got this exact iFixit tool roll last Christmas from my wife. Amazing stuff, highly recommend. It's got all kind of proprietary bits you will never use, but also all the torx, allens, flat and philips bits you might ever need in a tool of this size.
Last year I made my wife a custom Delica, a purple one with gold accents because she's a big LSU fan. She initially could care less about folding knives, but she uses it all the time and likes it
I have gifted several knives. I can usually gauge what knife would be good for the specific person. But here is the key to getting someone into knives: Buy them one knife that's good for them and then buy them another one that complements the other. When you teach them that you can carry a different knife for a different situation, they will get hooked.
I always recommend the Kaweco Sport, Parker Jotter, and the Kershaw Leek or Spyderco Tenacious respectively. If theyre not brand new to the EDC world I upgrade my recommendation to a premium Jotter and a Griptilian. Theyre all generally hooked after that
I got a mini hogue RSK, a Nitecore TINI, and a strop with compound, and I bought a Leatherman Wave as a gift for someone... hadn’t even seen these recommendations until now.
I’ve been wanting a Quiet Carry Waypoint for the better part of the year, and they finally restocked a couple weeks ago so I ordered one as a birthday present to myself. It’d be cool if they shipped it someday soon though.
Big cosign on the dragonfly as a beginner gift knife. I noticed my wife was frequently borrowing my knife, so I bought her a dragonfly. She thought it was weird at first. "Why do I need a knife?" She now keeps one in her purse, one in her car and one in the junk drawer. Many people just don't understand how handy it is to have something sharp on you until they carry a knife for a while. This situation is not helped by "sheepdog" "high speed low drag" TACTICAL marketing.
Heck yeah on the TWSBI Eco, stellar pen for the price! If you're looking for more of a stocking filler though, any of the Platinums will fit the bill nicely (Preppy, Plaisir and Prefounte)
For a video like this...I do not mind not getting the links to Amazon but if that is not done, PLEASE slow down on naming the brand and model for nerds like me with ancient ears. Thanks.
Nick immediately starts the list referencing the Pilot G2 ink cartridge and I know I can trust whatever he says next because that is a good pen cartridge.
Nick I think a great gift no matter what time of the year it is the gift of learning but there is such a thing as bad advice so here's my question is there any good information on where I can learn to strop and hone my knifes I've never tried to do it before and I'm nervous about damaging the edges on my knives or taking a bad thing and making it worse what do you recommend.
I wish I had watched this before I bought a new flashlight. I went to a local EDC store to get an olight on black Friday. They were sold out. So he talked me into buying the Nitecore tini SS. I cannot get the damn thing to turn on! The buttons will not depress no matter how much pressure I place on it. The only time I can get it to light up is when I plug it in to charge. It will blink twice and light the buttons. Unplug it and it will fail to turn on. I will try returning it if they will let me. On the bright side, Olight is running a one day only sale for cyber Monday on their online store. I think I'll spend my money there for the time being. The S2R Baton II Ti looks promising.
Thanks for the video, amigo, and thanks for not letting me get into watches. I am a solid Casio G-Shock fan both by choice and necessity. I have asked 🎅 for a Case carbon steel stockman, hopefully I'll get lucky with the fit and finish. I think flashlights make nice presents for the everyday common or garden jackasses in your life. Nice tool case and strop.
I don't like side release pens because I often accidentally click the pen as I put it in my pocket, and I can't unlclick it because the button is now hidden in my pocket.
I got my girlfriend a 556-1 mini-freek carbon fiber (got it from army exchange for $192) for her birthday in a couple of days and a zirconium tactile turn bolt action for Christmas. Are these Nick Shabazz approved or should I assume my girlfriend will leave me after the holidays?
opposite here... can't remove the thumb-stud, the scales were way too rough on mine (especially under the clip). Also, I don't live in the US, so the price is way too high (and warranty is problematic). And mine still came with the no-disassembly warranty.
Thanks Nick & G'morning 😎 I agree we need to get everyone into watches, especially nice Mechanicals & edc, but I'm not saying we all need to wear utility belts like Luke Skywalker or anything 🙄 ..
Spyderco knives are way too expensive for what they are now when you consider their price hikes and the competition. I would recommend a civivi or kizer/tangram way before I recommend a spyderco. You can get a mini sheepdog in 154cm for as low as $40 and is way nicer than any spyderco that retails for under $100.
I’m not really into watches but I am into space! I bought a xeric Trappist1. Really unique looking watch. Check it out if you like watches, it’s like 200-500. Big discount to order early.
A programmable flashlight? No, thanks. A good flashlight is one where you press a switch to turn it on, and press a switch (preferably the same one) to turn it off. Any additional features make it too hard to use.
Don't like the Ritters... you can't remove the thumb-stud (proprietary screw + red loctite) and the scales are too rough (it will tear up your pockets). In addition, they are only available in one place, so poor availability and painful warranty for people outside the US.
*I have zero interest in watches especially with phones in pocket that tell us the time I see absolutely no reason to buy a watch. I would be as excited about receiving a watch for a gift as I would receiving a pair of socks.*
Nick, thanks for including my Mini-RSK Mk1-G2 and RSK Mk1-G2. $139.95 and $159.95, respectively. Wishing all the very best for the holidays!

Thanks Nick! In my experience, any Civivi or CJRB knives would also be good entries on the budget knife home front 👍🏻
Thanks for the Sandrin knives suggestion--went with the full kitchen set for the mother in law.
My mom let me pick a knife out for myself for Christmas so I went with the all black PM2
Great choice!
Nice one but be careful not to drop it at night. Or carry one of Nick's flashlights too.
Excellent choice!

Very valuable. I appreciate that you are value-conscious. Thanks Nick!
I got my father-in-law the machine era classic last Christmas. Definitely would recommend

Fountain pens! The ideal gifts for loved ones who don’t have enough ink stains on their clothes.
“Between stupid and a war crime” -Nick lmfao
I love my Citizen Eco Drive watch. I switch out nato bands on mine monthly. Also, that Doug Ritter knife is sweet.
I actually wear the Casio 3208 calculator watch and I'm in my 40s
That's because it's awesome.
I've got 2 of those, and I absolutely love them! 😁😁
@@gorillasnacks3393 I do to they're just so light and comfortable to wear
😭
I wear the CA-53W calculator and am in my 20s, calculator watches are just cool it's a fact.

The Excalibur sword! And if it's out of stock, i'll settle for a multitool.
Another great knife to get a non-knife person or kid getting their first knife is almost any Opinel (excepting the ones numbered higher than like 9)
my freshman year english teacher thought my twisbi eco was a vape

Could have sworn that Spyderco discontinued their ZDP-189 line😥
Maybe to do with K390?
"An interface somewhere between stupid and a war crime." ROTFLMAO Priceless. ;-)
Love the tool kits, great gift ideas
Everytime I see a Quiet Carry knife, I think the dots are power indicators hahaha
Hey nick, I got a question. Does the ifixit set have T-bits? Like the ones for knife disassemblely
Bought my dad a 940 and my sister an elementum for christmas. Hope they like them!
I got my dad a 535 for father’s day(bugout) he loved it! Hope it’s the same in your household

Nick will you be testing the Worksharp Precision Accuracy Sharpener?
Nick immediately starts the list referencing the Pilot G2 ink cartridge and I know I can trust whatever he says next because that is a good pen cartridge.
Good recommendations Nick, but I'm still not getting into watches.
Don't get in to fountain pens either. They can be very pricey. Montblanc just came out with an Egypt themed model that costs over $540,000.

That ti eco drive 😍 where’d you get it 😉😂
Kinda disappointed i didn't see him recommend the Z-hunter.
Probably can't make enough to meet demand...I'm sure that's why he left it off the list...
@@Thomasnmi So what you're saying is the Z-Hunter is the Chuck Norris of knives. It doesn't cut things it allows thing to press against its blade.
Do they make a EDC TACTICAL TOILET PAPER ? 🤔🤔

Hey Nick - Any chance you can review the Seiko Street models?
Much love from Switzerland
I need your help. I am try hard not to not get into watches, but Seiko SSA343J1 & SARX045 keep staring at me.
Great choices 👌
I'm never here this early!
When will we get a tipsy TIP SE review? The golden stiletto review was great.
That would be HILARIOUS
A fully sober TipSE review is coming tomorrow. Alas, I don't drink 🤣
Good stuff Nick

Tiscribe didn’t make the list?
They're great, but "Sold out pending next batch" at the time of filming.
Byrd Robin 2 FRN is a nice and cheap gateway drug.
Flashlight muggle 😂
DON’T GET INTO WATCHES! He is 100% correct in that watches are so much more expensive and addictive than knives!

Getting my brother a Mora 511 and getting my roommates some karambits because they're nerds.
Giving a mora 511 to my little brothers best friend because they fish and it couldn’t have found a better home.

Do NOT get people into watches!! 🤣🤣
