    Thank you for all the good and not so good comments this video taping was a surprise to me. I didn’t have a clue this was going to take place. This was all unrehearsed and is just a demo of possibilities. It’s not fighting. If you want to see this in real action see Arlan Sanford co founder of the Dog brothers in real stick fighting, also the World GSPA stick fighting champion is a Derobio instructor. If I look a little winded I probably am since this was taped right after I found out I was diagnosed with heart failure that happens to old people. Thank God that my heart is no longer working below 20% and has improved to 45% thank you for taking the time to watch these videos 🙏

      HI GM Dan, no need to explain yourself. In the internet world, there's a lot of trolls and keyboard warriors. Glad to see your health is improving. Hope to see you again in the future.

    GM Medina is really versatile. The concepts of transitions from weapon to empty hand to grappling is important. Flow from one scenario without breaking a beat.

      Old school training, our backyard training was the same way. Learning different configurations of weapons, empty hand and grappling in a 2 hour class time frame.

    Nice way to close out the month with the feature instructor. Good to see GM Medina and Derobio Escrima get the some notoriety. Rare to see the Hawaiian FMA on the mainland. Blessing and good health GM Medina and to all of the Derobio practitioners. Happy New Year.

      Happy New Year to you too. There's many styles out there we still need to cover, as well as the new and upcoming instructors for the next generation. There are more styles outside of what is portrayed as "mainstream" FMA. Some groups once to be more low key than others, but we're here to highlight and promote them as well.

    FMA is a living tradition.It is still evolving.
    It has roots in our history both an indigenous art and as foreign art ...or fusion. The truth is somewhere in that range.

    Has any body heard of Karate - Jjitsu? There is a school in my hometown of Las Vegas I’m thinking about training at. At the school it saids the instructor teaches BJJ and karate - jitsu. Just seeing if anybody has any knowledge on that.

    • @FMAPulse
      @FMAPulse  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's probably not in our realm to answer that. Our recommendation is to visit the school in person and talk to the teacher's directly. See if they offer free classes and see how it's being taught first. Then ask them about the history of their system and then go home and research it.

      I respect your opinion, brother, but Filipino martial arts (kali/escrima/arnis) is already well-established in the Philippines even way before the Spaniards came during the 16th centuries. Meaning Filipinos already have this traditional fighting system even before the other cultures amalgamated with the local Filipino way of life. Peace out!

    As impressive as this is and along with the good teaching I'm convinced this isn't that effective. Real fights are too random and always in these video's the attacker is always compliant and the defender knows what's coming. You hardly ever see this level if trapping in competition stick fighting. Nice theory though. You only have to watch the Dog Brothers competitions to see through this.
