I can't forget this demonstration of techniques which are very realistic and very effective for self-defense by GM Dan Medina using the arnis stick. It shows how deadly the art of Filipino Martial art { arnis} is. Thank you GM Dan Medina.
When we spoke to many of the old school Eskrimadors, they said that before armored tournaments, fights/challenges were shorter. They all said the same thing, "fight is done in 1-3 moves." Even though he promotes and teaches Pedoy Derobio Style, he has learned other systems throughout his journey while in the Navy.
GM Dan, we remember you from the Katipunan event in Florida with Gat Puno Baet 10 years ago. Good to see you getting the spot light and sharing your story. Keep going kapatid. 👍🏽
We'll forward this message to him. He remembers Maha Guro Nate (RIP) and Guro Chris Dino (RIP). We hope his stories and teaching lives on with the students and they continue teaching Derobio.
GM! Great interview.. Been a long time since we've seen you in ABQ.. I sent your videos to Chief.. Thank you for all the years you've trained us through life!
Thank you. We were trying to connect in person earlier in the year, but was unable to due to timing. Luckily we were able to connect in North Carolina when he was a guest instructor at GM Bobby Taboada's Balintawak World Camp. Wish we had more time to cross train with him and Derobio.
So much respect for grandmaster Dan medina. Never forget your teachers. Love your empty hand techniques. Reminds me of all my years training serrada escrima.

Another great interview fellas. It’s good to hear more about GM Medina, he’s one of the OG’s that helped propagate FMA in the states.
Especially the Hawaiian FMA styles. We hope to head to Hawaii one day and cover/document the FMA scene and history down there.

Agreed. So far the people we've met are really humble and nice. No egos and willing to help in any way they can.
Very humble master...appreciating the Filipino Martial Arts..

Indeed. Especially in the Eastern cultures, it's always about paying respects to your elders and teachers.
Lots of Respect
Indeed, especially when he said when he was in the Navy, "when all the other guys were going out drinking, I was looking for the martial arts."
Thanks sir 🙏
Not a problem, thank you for your continued support.

Any suggestions on a school that teaches your type of fma in Toronto Canada?
Feel free to contact GM Dan via Facebook messenger. He's always willing to help you find an instructor.
No instructional dvd of derobio? Thanks
You would have to contact GM Medina directly and ask. Not sure if they created any instructional videos.
