    🤠 A common incorrect interpretation: Stevie didn't drop his guitar pick; he was adjusting knobs on his effects (foot) pedals. Great reaction! Thank you for featuring SRV on your channel. 👍

    A Jimi Hendrix song, covered beautifully by Stevie. (On Jimi's album Electric Ladyland, 2 versions of this song, the shorter one known as "Voodoo Child Slight Return.") Those lyrics actually say "I don't mean to take up your sweet time; give it back to you one of these days." and "If I don't see you no more in this world, meet you in the next one and don't be late." R.I.P. Jimi and Stevie. Stevie was from Texas. He used 13 gauge guitar strings; the heaviest made. Great reaction!

      Mary Margaret Moore
      - - - and he still managed to rip them out of their mooring. Just incredible to think that hands and fingers that strong could move that fast with such dexterity and ability to articulate.
      Thanks, God, for letting us have Stevie Ray Vaughan alive during our lifetime. Please keep him warm and near you.

    he uses bass frets on his guitar necks,they are a hair bigger which allows him to "bite into them with his fingers" harder,,,he uses heavy guage strings because he breaks them so much,,he also tunes his guitar a half step lower,,which allows him to "bend" the notes harder,,he also superglues his finger tips in a pinch ,in order to keep playing,,and was rumored to have glued his fingertips to his shoulder then ripped them off from it,,to add a bit of skin onto his fingertips,,not sure how true that one is but,,,,he plays hard,,,raunchy,,rough but smooth as silk,,all at once,,,hes a force of nature,,he dont hold back or wuss out,,,you can tell how much time a guitar player spends practicing,,by how beat his instrument is ,,,,well he sure put in his time,,,what else can i say

    His strings were so heavy (and gave that sweet, unmistakable sound 🔥) apparently he would lose skin off his fingertips and glue them back on - yes, with glue 😳😆. This man was mesmerizing and I was lucky to see him as a teenager in '87 with my parents! We had the radio on and actually cried when we heard he died 😢 Such an incredible, incredible loss.

    He's sober here and he embraced it. He asked Jimi Hendrix's if he he could play Jimi's so the story goes Mr. Hendrix gave Stevie Jimi's wah wah pedal. I love Chris Leyton playing those fills on drums. He said I didn't mean to take up your sweet time give back to you. You should listen Tokyo Japan you'll dig it.

    A great memory....with my wife, 1983. Dosed to the gills on 5 - 7 grams or so of really outstanding mushrooms.
    Need I say more? We were out of our "minds" and seats, "standing ovation" style...the whole show..
    .Shocked really to this day how we weren't "carted off".
    We made it out alive... Thank God
    His band. "Double Trouble." Holy jumped up Christ man...Moving along with him and adjusting to time changes and entire redirections of rehearsed material....
    Fuck...Wow.

    There’s still quite a few videos to discover from SRV. He truly is God gifted and the debate over who’s the GOAT of guitarist can be argued over many excellent guitarists, but one thing that can be highly argued about Stevie is that he makes you FEEL the music. I can admire many who are technically gifted, but SRV has evoked emotions that many others can’t.

    Stevie Ray is actually using Jimi's pedal in this song. Stevie Ray wanted to cover Jimi's songs, but he said he wanted his permission before he did it. He personally went to see Jimi's father and requested his permission. His father not only approved, he gifted him with Jimi's pedal.

    • @xenoscoot
      @xenoscoot 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is around all over YT, but is a not strictly true. It is an amalgamation of two different events. Jimmie, Stevie's brother, opened for Hendrix. He borrowed Jimmie Vaughan's Wah pedal...and broke it. Jimi gave him his and some cash to replace the broke one. Jimmie still has that Wah pedal and God only knows what else as part of tge Vaughan estate. Stevie may have used it...not sure. I have read Stevie did request permission to cover Hendrix from his family...and they gave it.
      Jimmie Vaughan is still in the land of the living and has spoken on this famous Wah pedal multiple times. 🙂 He's still touring and just dropped new music.

  • @hardcoremusichead1755
    @hardcoremusichead1755 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Stevie not only bent over twice to adjust his pedals, not to retrieve his pick, he also adjusts his guitar 20 or more times. Watch his right hand carefully. He's not just picking and strumming.

    Tad bit of info: If ya notice his whammy bar is on Top... like Jimis was, because he played a right hand guitar left handed!
    Also... his wha wha pedal he uses was given to him by Jimis family after he died! A one of a kind!
    They were that tight!!!!

    Stevie did not drop his pick (See John English's comment below). He was tweaking either his Wah Wah or his Tube screamer. Stevie had a white spare pick on his microphone stand about a foot from where the microphone is (You can see it in the video). He also kept spares on his amps. He would have NEVER attempted to pick up a dropped pick. I don't think any artist would attempt that during a performance. He would have grabbed the one from his microphone stand. That said, great reaction. It was a pleasure to watch. You pay attention to what is going on in the video. You have to if Stevie is playing or you will miss something. I bet Jimi Hendrix and Stevie are playing together in heaven. What a show that would be.
