    That wasn't even Stevie's band. Those Cats were top of the top Session players playing his current single, at the time, as if they recorded it with him. You could see it in all of them.....they were LIT, Jack, playing with a fellow great presenting his latest art to the world. Tremendous.

    Makes me happy to see him again and sad to remember his untimely passing. One of the true greats, like Ellington, Coltrane, Armstrong, Pinetop Perkins. Anyone who ever held complete mastery of a musical instrument, because Stevie did.

    Hiram Bullock next to Stevie...a spectacular musician who also passed awaY. This was David Sanborn's (star trumpet player) backing band...outstanding group.

    I was depressed for three years when he died. I listened to him all the time, everything he ever did. He was a God-given great. We were lucky to have him as long as we did.

    Ahhh, the old NIGHT MUSIC tv show! Back when free-TV still had music shows like THIS! Notice, the bass player breaks a string at the end...hard to do with a Bass!

    • @tonydelapa1911
      @tonydelapa1911 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, David Sanborn’s old Sunday night show. Man, the musicians that have been on that stage! That bass player is the inimitable Marcus Miller, formerly band mate and music director for Miles Davis. I loved seeing him play with all those grest people. I have mentioned him to many reactors but no takers yet. This is Marcus and his own band doing an incredible cover of The Beatles “Come Together.” I saw him perform in a small venue in Chicago 5 years ago. We had stage side seats. It was a night of incredible music.
      Pope, you would love this performance, I guarantee it. If I’m wrong, I’ll kiss your ass on the courthouse steps and give you an hour to draw a crowd! 😂

      @@tonydelapa1911 Thanks for that Link. That is some serious Groove by master musicians! Marcus had left Night Music before the SRV episode, though (1990?). The Bassist on this is the great Tom Barney.

      @@tonydelapa1911 So many great performances from that show, I'm glad I was able to record most of em'. Re: Jeff Healy/See the Light... Marcus Miller's reaction when Jeff goes crazy at the end. Miles Davis and band (w/Marcus) playing Tutu! Sonny Rollins...etc. Marcus was (and is) one of the coolest cats on the planet!

    • @tonydelapa1911
      @tonydelapa1911 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JasonSmith-jr7jh I remember that originally and from having seen others react to it. What was cool (and thoughtful) was seeing Marcus back up Jeff’s chair so it didn’t tip over when he sat back down.

    I hope u will consider the Capital Theatre version of SRV-"Ain't Gonna Give Up on Love"...a stunning song often overlooked (?) Vocals & solo are transcendent..it's the song that the mics were turned off during the Sound Check vid...u wanted them UP! as I recall. Lovely u like the blues. (VERY) Bluesy Clapton at Crossroads Live-"Little Queen of Spades" is few emo Clapton performances...that fully engages.

    You reacted to Stevie in Austin performing Voodoo Child. You should watch him performing the same song in Nashville and Japan. Maybe not reacting to them, but for own amusement. Same song played 3 different ways. You won't be sorry.

    Oh God, not only do you do Pink Floyd but Stevie Ray too. SRV is the coolest man that has ever lived. He was still the coolest man on the planet even after the helicopter crash that killed him. Nobody has ever seen a cooler dead body. Sometimes I wish I was a woman so we could marry and spend evenings listening to all this classic music together. It's not going to happen. It's not. Forget I mentioned it.
