    Love your channel. Well done and actually helpful for beginners. I search countless videos for sewing with knit where they mention the same info but then demo with a serger. A beginner most likely will not have a serger. So thank you for showing the whole project with just a sewing machine. I’ve made your bucket hat and holster bag and it came out great. Definitely will be add this to my list of projects 😊

    I love how you show how to use other stitches on the machine to sew stretchy fabric like this one. Being a long time sewist, seamstress I have had Industrial single needle and serger but have down sized. I mainly use an 80 year old singer but I still have a serger but a portable Juki as well as a cover stitch machine.
    Awesome video/ tutorial!!!

    Yeah -to another commenter - I don't have a surger - I'm a beginner - I am learning to save money and get some personal funk to my clothes - no way will I even buy a surger .... Nope - so it is very helpful that you mention that for those who want to do this on a smaller scale ! LOVE your vids - and your camera work and editing is beyond top notch

    Hey.. great video..Just a friendly advice; @gloryallan when you cut, use chalk, remove the paper pattern and most importantly cut outwards - meaning the scrap fabric should be facing you , thus you do not risk cutting into the actual self fabric.. so when you are cutting and if you go off the chalk line you do not end up cutting into the self.

    • @GloryAllan
      @GloryAllan  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the tip!! I'll use that in my future videos 😊
      How do you trace the pattern onto your knit fabric? The chalk doesn't work well because of the stretch.

    • @jessm.2779
      @jessm.2779 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GloryAllan Fabric markers! They make several different kinds. I use a pink one with water soluble ink for lighter fabric and a metallic sharpie for black/darker fabric. Edit: I have since swapped the metallic sharpies for a chalk marker. WAY WAY better.

    Love your videos! I made this hoodie without any mistakes and and so looking forward to making it again!! The only issue I had was finding matching ribbing for the color I purchased. I wound up purchasing a contrasting color but would have preferred the same color. I have seen some companies that sell the fabric and matching ribbing on Etsy, but unfortunately when adding the shipping the cost becomes very expensive. Do you have any advise on how to find fabric colors with matching ribbing that are different from the colors you offer for sale?

    • @GloryAllan
      @GloryAllan  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Awesome!! Glad it came out well 😊
      That's a tough one, fabric stores can be very limited. Sometimes they won't even have the right fleece and rib knit in the weight I want. Sometimes they'll have it, but not in matching colors (one time i was looking to make a grey hoodie but the grey fleece didn't match their grey rib knit). Try different stores or call ahead to save time to see if they have the material in colors you're looking for or consider buying white and dying yourself?

    Im a new sewer and your videos have inspired me to take that next step and make a garment! I have a Singer 4411, but I don't have a stretch stitch. Any help on how to get a stretch stitch workaround on that machine?

    • @GloryAllan
      @GloryAllan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah totally. You can do a narrow zigzag stitch. Try a few test stitches at 0.5 width, 2.5-3 length, and tension.. 4? Test that out on some scrap fabric and fine tune it to get good stitches :)

    • @GloryAllan
      @GloryAllan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

  • @valeriegonzalez4316

    A rotary cutter is the optimal way to go instead of scissors. It may seem strange to use at first but after the first few passes you wont go back to scissors EVER! I have super sharp fabric scissors and I only use them if I MUST, otherwise its my r45 mm rotary. I use a 15 mm rotary to cut my paper patterns. for suer straight edges: a clear ruler. I also trace all my patterns to preserve the original, but I just using the tracing paper pattern to pin and cut my fabric. SAVE the traced pattern for future use so you never have to retrace.Trace all the markings, labels and words too! this way you don't have to play Mystery Pattern later on ie which pattern is this!?

    • @GloryAllan
      @GloryAllan  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Rotary cutters are so handy! I always use them when I can, they make cutting fabric a breeze. Good point on the tracing paper, always label them so you can reuse later without playing the guessing game 😊

    Hey, I'm really new to sewing. And do you have any tips for like super beginners with sewing machines? I'm having a problem keeping a clean straight lines.
    When I sew I need to redo it sometimes because it's crooked, sometimes it's okay but it's not that clean. I just feel like the cloth is being pulled to one side or idk...
    And it's really overwhelming with the drawing, cutting, and moving cloths, especially when it's fraying. I just keep thinking that it will fray till there's no canvas left 🤣🤣
