Hi, I purchased the pattern and I'm very pleased with this video! I have a question: what kind of thread do you use to sew? Is it the same for sewing and topstitching?
Hi! Thanks a lot for your comment 😁! Regarding your question; Yes, that is correct. I personally always use polyester thread over cotton (but either would be OK). I do use texturized thread on the serger loops (upper-looper and lower-looper). It is commonly called "overlock thread" here and it is used only on the loopers; the needles still use the regular thread mentioned in the beginning.
Hi! Sure; I've used there a Cotton Gabardine. It's quite a common fabric, so it won't be hard to find at any local store. Also, Etsy is a great option when buying sewing supplies online.

Hi! Thanks a lot for your comment! Let me answer your question: it is a non-woven fusible interfacing: it provides the main fabric some weight and strength.
I love this tutorial. Thank you. Please what is the name of your machine? Did the machine come with the footers you used? What are their names? Which thread did you use for the stitching? Please, I will love to hear from you. Am waiting Please.
Thanks a lot for your comment 😁!! Let me answer your questions: * Machines I'm using in this video: a) Lockstitch: Brother CE 4000 b) 4-thread Overlock / Serger: Janome 1110DX * As far as I can remember, I used here only: a) Zipper presser foot (included within the machine) b) Zig-Zag /Regular presser foot (included within the machine) * Regarding the thread, I've used here a regular one made out of polyester (Usually referred to as " "Polyester sewing thread")
I started to sew, followin excellent instructions which are very clear and easy to follow! However I'm having some troubles. I noticed that the Knee Front Pieces are positioned way to low, even for my husband, who has rather long legs. If I put them higher, the side pockets have to be sewn over them. Second: the front pockets are too long, so when I want to sew the side pockets onto the trousers, the front pockets are sewn up...
Hi! Thanks a lot for contacting us! Let me assist you right away; I will ask you some questions in order to troubleshoot: are you using 1 cm for seam allowance? Also, what size are you sewing? Regarding knee level and pocket placement; this might need to be adjusted depending on the user's height (for example, I'm 1,68 m tall, so these knees pieces will definitely need to be a little higher/ or even make them a little shorter).
Thanks a lot for your comments and suggestions. That was mentioned to me before, so in my later videos, I started to use some chalk to trace an X on the back side of each pattern piece. As a general rule, I'd say you should always "face right sides" when sewing two different pieces together.
I absolutely love and enjoyed following your video, was very easy. The cargo pants that I sewed looks perfect, thank you so much. Would you be able to do little boys cargo pants as well.
Hi again! I was wondering what kind of needle do you use? Universal, for jeans? I just did the finition of the back pocket flap and my needle wasn’t very pleased 😄 also when you cut your steam a seam, the one you cute with serrated scissors (hope I use the right word!) for the back pocket, for the sizes, do you refer on the back pocket lip or the back pocket facing ? Thank you so much for your help! I might finish the pants this week so I’ll be done for the questions 😅
Hi! Thanks a lot for your comments =)! Let me answer your questions: a) Jeans' needles will work great with thick fabrics. For the fabric used in the video, a needle number N16 was used (I used a regular one, but indeed a jeans one will be much better;). b) The fusible interfacing rectangle I used for the back pockets (the one cut with the "zig-zag" scissors) was cut using the "back pocket facing". Even though I used the zig-zag scissors, this is not necessary. Feel free to contact me back if any questions 😁!
Thanks a lot for your comment 😁!! Let me copy down below the different fabrics I've used here: a) Main WOVEN fabric; cotton gabardine (with or without spandex)
b) Light cotton fabric (complementary fabric; any woven one will do; I used some Gross)
Thank you very much for your comment =)! I personally use stitch length #3 (in lockstitch home machines) and 2.5 on lockstitch industrial machines. Despite this, the length depends on the brand and model of the machine, so these may differ from yours.
May I ask an additional question? I bought the pdf but now I saw that’s is just for til size 42 and I am not familiar with us sizes. I am wondering which size I need when I am 200cm tall and 95 kg? Thank you so much for your effort! And keep on this great and precise content 😊
@@unique660 Hello again! Sure, no problem. i'll need to know your waist measurement. To make it simple, you may measure some pants that fit you well; with the waistband (zipper & button) closed, measure from side to side. This measurement (half waist) needs to be doubled (to get the full waist circumference). The result is the "waist measurement". That value can be then compared to the "final garment measurements" chart provided in pattern details sheet. The size range is as follow: Size 28 = 29.9 inches / Size 42= 40.9 inches. You may provide the waist value and I can make the comparison for you. Also, if some extra ease is needed, I cna provide a guide o how to do so.
Me gustó mucho tu vídeo.
Hi! Thanks for your comment; let me answer your question: These are "classic male fit", However, they can surely be some "baggy women" pants. If there's much difference between the hips and the waist measurements, some adjustment will be needed.
@@agamergirl166 Hi again! Sure; the green material I used Grosgrain fabric I had as leftovers. Generally, this is done with some thich cotton material (like the one seen on jeans). Despite that, you can use any woven fabric you like. Regarding the main material; i've used cotton gabardine. Some thich cotton canvas would work great as well. It will work pretty similar to the gabardine used here.
HI! Thanks a lot for your comment. Let me answer your question: All designs from my store include two pattern files: A) A PDF for "home printing" (letter-sized paper) B) A PDF for "plotter printing" (A0 Sized). I got a video on how to work with the "home printing files" once printed. I'd suggest you refer here first: th-cam.com/video/v0Mv2D_DJFE/w-d-xo.html Let me know any questions =)
Great job, i just dowload it but i have a question. How can i customize sizes if the xl is too small for me ? Where i have to add some cm to fit me well ? Thanks
Thank you =)! Let me answer your question right away: If you need to add up to 5 cm (2 inches), you can simply divide that value into two (let's say you're adding 5 cm, so that'll be 2,5 cm) and add it to the Back piece side seams (from a little below the hipline all the way up to the waistline, from a 0 cm to the 2,5 cm when reaching the hips) Hope this makes some sense =)! Let me know any questions.
@@PDFPATTERNSBOUTIQUE it’s not all clear for me but I quiet understand. Have to add 1/2 measure I need on each B parts (Back x2) at the top part of these pièces? Quiet correct ? 🙄😉
Hi! Thanks for your comment! Let me answer your question: This style uses a regular home machine (Lockstitch) and a Serger (to overcast the edges of the fabric). Even though I am using these two machines, you can replace the serger with a Zig-Zag stitch; there are tons of videos on how to replace a serger with a zig-zag stitch. No Coverstitch was used here at all. Regarding your question specifically, it is not the type of machine that's really important but the actual stitch used; either a seam (lockstitch) or an edge overcasting (serger or zig-zag stitch).
Hi! Thanks a bunch for your comment. Let me answer your question: This design needs a little less than 2 yards of the main fabric for the smallest size (size: 28) & a little less than 2.5 yards for the biggest size (size 42). Also, you'll need some complementary fabric (used here for the pockets). I've used about 0.6 yards (applies to any size).

I cant believe I watched the whole video🙈🙈
I'm very happy you did actually 😉😂! Hope you've learned something from it.
Me gustó mucho tu vídeo.
Impecable trabajo, gracias
Muchísimas gracias por su comentario!
Hi, I just started sewing the pattern and it’s very hard knowing when is the good and the wrong side, have any tips? Thanks
Hi! 😁! The golden rule (it always sounds in the back of my mind) is to "face right sides together" when sewing to pieces of fabric.
@@PDFPATTERNSBOUTIQUE Thanks!! Now I’ll have the golden rule in my mind 😁
@@joseelecours5407 😁!! Feel free to conatct me back if any questions!
❤ Realmente muy bueno tu video! Me fue muy útil! Gracias ❤

What hook and eye did you use?
Hi! I've used a "non-sew 4-piece pants hook"
Can these pants be for women as well?
Hi! Thanks for your comment; let me answer your question:
These are "classic male fit", However, they can surely be some "baggy women" pants. If there's much difference between the hips and the waist measurements, some adjustment will be needed.
@@PDFPATTERNSBOUTIQUE 😃 okay. Do you know what material was used for the pockets inside? And can you used canvas material to make these pants?
@@agamergirl166 Hi again! Sure; the green material I used Grosgrain fabric I had as leftovers. Generally, this is done with some thich cotton material (like the one seen on jeans). Despite that, you can use any woven fabric you like.
Regarding the main material; i've used cotton gabardine. Some thich cotton canvas would work great as well. It will work pretty similar to the gabardine used here.
Cual es la medida del cierre???
Hola! Tallas del 28 al 36: 14 cm
Tallas del 38 al 42: 16 cm
What fabric are you using?
Hi! I'm using here a cotton gabardine with a little spandex.
excelente gracias por compartirlo
bendiciones🤩😘😇
Muchísimas gracias por su comentario 😁!
If I buy a pattern from esty how can I print out the patterns? They are very big
HI! Thanks a lot for your comment. Let me answer your question:
All designs from my store include two pattern files:
A) A PDF for "home printing" (letter-sized paper)
B) A PDF for "plotter printing" (A0 Sized).
I got a video on how to work with the "home printing files" once printed. I'd suggest you refer here first: th-cam.com/video/v0Mv2D_DJFE/w-d-xo.html
Let me know any questions =)
Great job, i just dowload it but i have a question.
How can i customize sizes if the xl is too small for me ? Where i have to add some cm to fit me well ?
Thanks
Thank you =)! Let me answer your question right away:
If you need to add up to 5 cm (2 inches), you can simply divide that value into two (let's say you're adding 5 cm, so that'll be 2,5 cm) and add it to the Back piece side seams (from a little below the hipline all the way up to the waistline, from a 0 cm to the 2,5 cm when reaching the hips)
Hope this makes some sense =)! Let me know any questions.
@@PDFPATTERNSBOUTIQUE it’s not all clear for me but I quiet understand.
Have to add 1/2 measure I need on each B parts (Back x2) at the top part of these pièces? Quiet correct ? 🙄😉
@@dou828 That is correct! You may conatct me on Etsy so I can send you some basic diagrams on how to do so.

What is the name of your sewing machine?
Hi! Machines I'm using in this video:
a) Lockstitch: Brother CE 4000
b) 4-thread Overlock / Serger: Janome 1110DX
Thanks for your comment! I'll definitely keep the Safari Dress in mind for future videos!
how can i tell when youre using the serger or a normal sewing machine or a coverstitcher? this is very overwhelming
Hi! Thanks for your comment! Let me answer your question:
This style uses a regular home machine (Lockstitch) and a Serger (to overcast the edges of the fabric).
Just to clarify; I used the serger only to overcast the raw edges of the fabric.
Hi love your videos can you do young boys in future its difficult to find videos of clothes for boys

Como se llama la tela que usaste ??
Buenas!
Nice
how many yards did you use?
of fabric!
Hi! Thanks a bunch for your comment. Let me answer your question:
This design needs a little less than 2 yards of the main fabric for the smallest size (size: 28) & a little less than 2.5 yards for the biggest size (size 42).
Also, you'll need some complementary fabric (used here for the pockets). I've used about 0.6 yards (applies to any size).
Anyone know which fabric that he's using?
Hi! I'm using some stretch gabardine (cotton & spandex).
@@PDFPATTERNSBOUTIQUE Thank you for responding. Nice work on the garments.
