  • In recent years, Coulrophobia, or a fear of clowns, has seen the biggest increase of any acquired fear.
    But why do we fear things that have no clear and obvious danger?
    Keele's Dr Donna Berry explains the psychology of fear.

    1. The feeling of butterflies in your stomach is actually blood being diverted from your stomach/intestines to areas that can help you respond with fight or flight.
    2. Two examples of innate fears are death and snakes, whereas an example of a learned fear is clowns.
    3. Fear does not spread as widely in people on the Autism spectrum.
    The video goes in-depth on fear- its different types, how it's formed, and how to combat it.

    Hello, May I use part of this video recording for my high school project. The project is like a podcast about fear and phobia.

      Hi yes that is fine, if you could just give credit to Keele University on screen whilst the clip plays (just small in the bottom left, for example). ^PN

    I appreciate the content - Courage & facing fears is so important. The last video on my channel is on raising my son to be courageous & I discuss this. For those reading this, attack your fears & the courage will come!

    The difference between fear and love is imaginary. When you realise that's an imaginary difference then you can love the kangaroo 🦘 and the terrorist 💥 identically

    How is the fear of snakes innate? If snakes, then why not dogs or spiders?

    • @antoniohoward5920
      @antoniohoward5920 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      it kinda is innate ,a good percentage of people fear snakes . but yeah thats the case for spiders and dogs too

      I think they used snake as an example of people being innately fearful of dangerous creatures in general. Instinctively, we can tell if an animal is potentially dangerous or not, and we're afraid of that. But idk, thats my interpretation.

    I thought as babies, humans are only naturally afraid of falling and loud noises

    • @goatkoala573
      @goatkoala573 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think only the loud noises one. If you have never fell and no one have never told you that that will hurt you, I don’t see how you would know that falling is scary
