I once had the same ‘92 F-150 with the straight 6. It was fantastic! I drove it for ~200K miles from ‘92 till ‘04. I pretty much gave it to a young man at my church who badly needed a good truck. Then bought myself an ‘04 Tundra Limited that I’m still driving today.

I happened across your video. You said it correctly. The prices will not come down until we all stop buying this stuff. When they run out of Toyota fanboys, early adopters and those that have more money than common sense, perhaps reality will kick in.
This truck has become just another one of the herd. It will have loads of issues for a couple years just like the rest. Frontier is the safest bet at this point.
Prices are Inflation adjusted dollars ....prices have gone up that much ...because of Joe bidens " Inflation Reduction Act" ....It was a tranzverse , double reduction extenuation bam boozle 1.21 gigawatt tri superhetrodine inflation reduction plan....it worked , for them
The Toyota dealership next to me isn’t pulling these stunts. They have a 2024 TRD Off Road arriving with $1200 of installed options for $44,000. Yes, it is expensive for a midsized truck but at least they are not playing the mark up game.
Agree with you 100%. I have NEVER paid MSRP for a vehicle in my 61 yo life let alone pay a “market adjustment”. LOL, you have my word that I will not pay inflated over MSRP prices for ANY vehicle.
Was looking at same year, off road version, insane price, bought used Corolla., better gas mileage, keeping my 2008 Tacoma, 220,000 miles, still running great.
Check the spare tire. They don't give you a real spare, instead a convenience tire with different thread than the other 4 tires and mounted on a temporary rim.
It's a totally new re engineered truck..This happens with any new model on its first year..No pics of the 4 cylinder turbo?? I have a 2020 off road that I like alot..I'd buy one of these in like 3 years..I've had 11 toyotas through the years
Mid size long box trucks are Goldilocks. I own a '17 Canyon CCLB and it is awesome. That said, the long box option was only another $300 and the truck was 36.5K, which was a lot at the time. 53K isn't gonna happen for a Tacoma, and an entire generation (Gen Z) has effectively quit buying new cars. My 26 year old daughter is a perfect example, she drives an '07 Ford Escape which we keep running. I won't let her lease a newer car as that is a financial treadmill I don't want her getting on. Take a look at Autozone's stock (AZO). Not giving a stock tip here, but just look at their long term chart. It has relentlessly marched higher because people see the value in keeping older cars on the road. A new transmission on an older car is expensive but it no longer looks like a reason to take it off the road when ya look at the insane prices of new cars. Plus a lot of the older vehicles are simpler and easier to keep running.
I commented somewhere above about owning a 22 TRD Off Road. However, I use a 2004 Chevy Colorado with a trailer when I haul gravel, dirt, tree limbs. Still runs great with scheduled maintenance.
I enjoyed the review, really down to earth commentary. Just like the housing bubble, and all the recessions the markets will adjust. With covid behind us the supplies are normalizing and this kind of price gouging is unacceptable. People are being forced to pay more money for rent, housing and the credit terms are getting longer to pay for high ticket items. Shop around for the best deals, join a credit union and don’t buy more than you can reasonably afford. Mass production is supposed to yield lower prices, but this is just insulting that concept.

I was going to buy myself a 2024 Tacoma this month for my retirement. Toyota has absolutely lost their minds with these prices and market adjustments. In fact all car dealers are asking way too much for new vehicles. 3/4 ton Chevy Trucks are priced in the $70,000 - $80,000 range and with a diesal engine they are almost $90,000. No wonder used car prices are so high. Good video thanks for getting right to the point.

LOL. My 23 SR5 longbed in Silver has all the same stuff except the winter package which I don't need where I am at. Got the V6 4wd for 41 grand. I'll take the V6 over the turbo crap. I got it tuned with OTT and it has plenty of low end power now and smooth quick shifting. I had to drive 6 hours to get the truck but I didn't pay any markups. I remember when paying at MSRP was considered being ripped off now we got these crazy markups. TFL just had their brand new 24 tacoma lose 4wd on a mild course. 53k is more than my dad paid for a loaded Chevy 2500HD Crew Cab with 4wd and the 6.6 gas engine. That was a few years back when they still had the 6 speed autos.
I live & work in the area of this dealer, Hampton VA. The sad thing is this truck was only on the lot for a day or two before someone paid the markup & it was sold.

@@revnation_auto I was a GMC owner trying to buy a Canyon when I was looking for a truck. The dealership would not take an order for anything but white or black, the two colors I specifically did not want. Later I went online, and put together a vehicle on the GMC website. We know most people are not paying cash for these over-priced vehicles so why are the banks approving vehicle loans with thousands of dollars of fluff putting borrowers upside down on their loans for many years to come?
Because Toyota Finance is flexible & they work with dealerships to steal your money.. Local banks will require more money down & probably a higher interest rate.... Win Win for all scumbags. Buyer Beware

My 1992 F-150 6 cylinder 2-wheel drive has 226,240 miles on it and I drive it all the time. When a part stops working I replace it myself if I can, otherwise I have a shop replace it. Nice truck -- I'm keeping it forever.
@jeanclaude7018 You're trusty 4-banger is almost half way to the million mile club!
@jeanclaude7018 I watched the video! When his odometer registered all nines it froze there, so now to keep track of mileage he uses the trip odometer.
Excellent commentary with this video. That additional toilet paper side stick, the sales manager stuck on, is typical thieves at work.
Haha…I’ve been calling it the toilet paper sticker too for a long time! Perfect!
A SR5 🤯53k,,,,, I payed 41,100 for my Colorado Trail Boss and got every option available ! I’m so glad I didn’t wait for this truck! After taxes 56k out the door, after finance about 70k I did Lyft with my Corolla and payed off my Colorado TB in 5 months, I only have 2700 miles on it ,,They make their money off of extended warranty’s and finance for 5,6,7 years!
Trail boss is a better looking truck in my honest opinion
Just stumbled across this and I really like your brutal honesty!
I'm subscribing 🎉🎉
Great video your totally right don’t pay it
I completely agree with you, no way would I pay the HUGE mark up, I do love the color.
Prices are Inflation adjusted dollars ....prices have gone up that much ...because of Joe bidens " Inflation Reduction Act" ....It was a tranzverse , double reduction extenuation bam boozle 1.21 gigawatt tri superhetrodine inflation reduction plan....it worked , for them
For a four cylinder?
No V6 or V8, not buying!
I paid $40,000 for my 2023 Tacoma TRD offroad in December. Can't believe the prices for the 2024 models.
Yeah that’s what I paid for my old TRD OR as well. Ridiculous prices now
That's what I paid for TRDsport in Aug 23.. With a V6 😂
40k for drum brake 🤣
Narrowly missed the bullshit. 23 owners sitting pretty.
@@theeconomist100 Boo-hoo. You'll be on truck #3 when ours are still riding pretty.
Straight to the point no bs
Your comments are spot on!
The Toyota dealership next to me isn’t pulling these stunts. They have a 2024 TRD Off Road arriving with $1200 of installed options for $44,000. Yes, it is expensive for a midsized truck but at least they are not playing the mark up game.
You should name your dealership.
6:12 Reminded me of those late night tv infomercials "but wait there's more"
Jokes aside, $46k is insane & $53k is super insane.
I bought my 23 Taco limited last year for a couple thousand off MSRP and couldn’t be happier. Glad I didn’t wait.
That is exactly the kind of dealer that only a fool would visit twice.
Agree with you 100%. I have NEVER paid MSRP for a vehicle in my 61 yo life let alone pay a “market adjustment”. LOL, you have my word that I will not pay inflated over MSRP prices for ANY vehicle.
Did that panel line up by the light,it looked off?
Looked off to me too. Get a lot of that post 2020 it seems
Doesn’t matter the year, matching seams effect's many vehicles.
But it stings at these prices though.
Wow, that’s pathetic
It's a totally new re engineered truck..This happens with any new model on its first year..No pics of the 4 cylinder turbo??
I have a 2020 off road that I like alot..I'd buy one of these in like 3 years..I've had 11 toyotas through the years
TFL blew up the transfer case climbing up a hill!
I like how the top bolt on the rear springs is already surface rusted on a brand new truck
Toyota has lost their minds! paid 38K out the door for my 19 Sport long bed. Truck prices in general are out of control. I'm not buying new again at these prices ever again!
Even 38k for a SR5 is insane, maybe more like 32k it’s what it’s worth tbh, very shitty trim
@@patrickjames3321It used to be a great trim, you could buy it for cheap then mod it yourself instead of wasting all the money on the sport or off road. Now it’s completely pointless cause it costs way too much
Bought a new 22' TRD Off Road 4x4 w/MT and equipped with extras in August, 2022. Paid $38,500 out the door. Appears the $$ Dollar has LOST more value than people realize.
I bought a '17 TRD Sport V6 Ext cab that was a lease return with 30k miles on the clock back in '19 and only paid 28k. As of 2024 I still get offered 30K if I ever want to sell.
I’m glad I got my Tacoma in 2019 😂
We have a Ford Dealership here in Oklahoma that has 2024 F150 pickups marked up as much as $20,000.00 above MSRP. It’s not just Toyota doing this.
That is crazy. How much more when the Trd pros and trail hunters come out, that markup will be 2x more. Insane prices
I talked to a Toyota GM today and they are think TRD Pro with be mid 60’s. Trail hunter like 70+
@@revnation_auto wow that is mind blowing, there’s a sucker born everyday and it takes 1 gullible person to attract. These higher trims will look nice & attractive enough to get a bite.
They better fix that front end issue or there’s going to be a lot of red faced pro and trail hunter owners!
I'll be sticking with my 21. It's problem free and many fewer failure points as the newer ones.
" TSRP=total suggested retail price, charge you more shit" love it .
Sad part is someone will buy that truck Thanks for the video 👍
Somebody will pay that but it won't be me
Looks like the one TFL has. The front diff. failed 1st time out on the trail.
And the Chevy made it no problem and it was the recovery vehicle.
Can’t get better advertising than that!
Crazy!!! Bought my TRD Prerunner V6, 4.0 brand new=$33K out the door.
Did that say, "Final Assembly Point" Mexico at 4:33 of the video... for a $53,063.00 Toyota pick up truck?!?
I've been driving Toyota cars and truck for 30 yrs. but they just now lost me.
Sorry Toyota... it's been a great ride but it's over.
I have owned 12 Toyotas.. I currently have a 2018 Highlander and a 2000 4 Runner 5 speed.
Toyota has lost me.

This new age car business is crazy and it is driven by dealers who have taken advice from Trump.
If you can get away with it, do it.
I will not feed their greed.
46k was too much and then they add 5 k. Screw them!
$6590
holy moly! im glad in 2021 i bought my new tacoma long bed 4 door trd OR 4x4 with almost ev ery option for 55K. seeing an sr5 for nearly the same price is insane!
Did you say you paid $35k? Or did you say $55k? If it’s the latter, YIKES!
The best thing Toyota influencers could do is feature vehicles on lots of bottom feeder dealers.
Dealers know theres a sucker born every day. Professional thieves.
Beautiful truck, just needs a drivetrain swap.
Massachusetts seems to have decent leases offers now. 2k down 540 a month for off road. Think I'm going to go for it
Toyota jumped the inflation gun this time. They are trying to take advantage of the inflation boom but people aren’t ready to pay that kind of money yet. Need more time for them to get used to high prices.
Toyota likes that truck more than I do. Next!
My dealer is doing the same except the vig is $3300. I won’t do it.
This is a great deal on a great truck. I won’t be buying it personally, but I fully support the dealership in adding even an additional $1,000,000 markup on each unit.
I watched that blue tacoma just spin its tires, til they spun no more! 😂😂 they weren't lying, they actually broke it this time! 😂😂😂
I live & work in the area of this dealer, Hampton VA. The sad thing is this truck was only on the lot for a day or two before someone paid the markup & it was sold.
A fool and his money are soon parted..
Hopefully not but you’re probably right
Still driving my 2003 Prerunner that I paid 15k for new! I'll stick with this!!!
Cool story bro
Not in this lifetime nor the next! 😮
I ordered a 2022 Tacoma Limited w 6 ft bed in Dec 2021 for $45k. No dealer markup. The Limited is a loaded SR5 basically. I thought that was too much but this makes it look like a deal.
Yeah they need to step up the limited. Go sit in a GMC Canyon Denali and then go back into the Tacoma. I’d take the Canyon
@@revnation_auto I was a GMC owner trying to buy a Canyon when I was looking for a truck. The dealership would not take an order for anything but white or black, the two colors I specifically did not want. Later I went online, and put together a vehicle on the GMC website. GMC said to go to the dealer to finalize the order. The dealer again said no, cant do it. That is how I ended up at the Toyota dealer. There are som disappointments in the Tacoma, but overall I like it and have no plans to get something different. This was in the late fall of 2021 at the height of the jacked up car market. I sold my Terrain for twice what it would have been worth in a normal market.
They're doing drugs!
That’s 4runner TRD Pro money LOL
not worth the sticker
We know most people are not paying cash for these over-priced vehicles so why are the banks approving vehicle loans with thousands of dollars of fluff putting borrowers upside down on their loans for many years to come?
Because Toyota Finance is flexible & they work with dealerships to steal your money.. Local banks will require more money down & probably a higher interest rate.... Win Win for all scumbags. Buyer Beware
Exactly what happens
$60k for an sr5 😂😂😂
Yep, I forgot to mention, they have a $999 doc fee too
Right on point!!! Great video. I’ll keep my “21”
24 SR5 are listed for $52k here 💀
I’m sure, soo dumb
I remember the days you could buy a 4W Drive two door taco with the 4 cyl engine that lasts forever.. for less than 10k... I will say its nice that it comes with a ITBC for hauling trailers. I hate the after market installs.
it is absolutly nuts for sure
2020 I bought my trd sport for just under 40k and it came with add ons
I love my Tacoma and upgrade every 5 years because I like new, I have the 2020 Off Road right now and soon will be upgrading and it sucks, if these prices don't come down I will not be upgrading to another Tacoma it's time to look at other trucks.
I honestly prefer the Canyon AT4, Colorado Trailboss, and Frontier Pro-4X over the new one. 23 TRD OR may have a decent discount on them now if you’re looking at keeping with Toyota but it’s basically the same truck you have
I bought a new 2022 trd offroad premium long bed with a few accessories and the alarm system for 53,043 out the door. Thats a crazy price for an sr5
Even if I was in the market, there’s still no way I’d pay that! I’m really not a fan of these anyway, they still look extremely outdated to me both inside & out.
I agree, looks like a cartoon vehicle!
What looks outdated about it? This is actually the first tacoma they made huge changes to.
@@270eman Still looks insanely similar, they need to update it more. The design, electronics, etc are all extremely outdated. It’s not 2015 anymore.
@@2H2521 Update it to what? Your options are physical buttons or a giant ipad screen. Personally I would rather have the "outdated" buttons. Having everything buried in menus is a fuckin hassle. To me its retarded to think that every vehicle needs some giant redo every few years.
I bought a new Tundra TRD in 2012 for 36k and a new 2013 Taco for 20k. Zero problems ,lo miles. I'm happy to have and keep them.
I'll stick with 1997 Toyota Tacoma with 248,000 miles on it and still running strong. The oil changes have been done religiously since new. The radiator failed at 200,000 miles ... the engine did not overheat. I had to put a replacement transmission in it two years ago and my mechanic found one that only had 60,000 miles on it. My original transmission could not be rebuilt ....it was scrap. I'll also keep my 2004 Toyota Tacoma SR5 X-cab that had 120,000 miles on it when I bought it 7 years ago for $9500. I've put just over 3000 miles since I got it. It's great not having vechicle debt and I plan keeping it that way!
Makes me appreciate my mint 2010 even more
Wish we could have looked in the bed for cargo lights, storage boxes and A/C power.
I bought my 18 Tundra for 45k with added leather seats running boards heated front seats 125,000 mile warranty and still felt like it was too much. Just cracking 100,00 miles. I used to trade 'em in every 3 years just to keep it fresh. I'm keeping this one.
Was just at the Toyota Dealer and was told they had no new trucks listed under 40k walked out and got a brand new Colorado for 30k
Got my support on buying a new one, ill keep my 2016
i special ordered my 22 ranger during the pandemic took 9months. base model xl, supercab, offroad package, trailer package, and a 110 outlet. if i could have gotten a manual and crank windows i would have. $34k at 5% interest. cheaper then the tacoma for the things i wants by $9k. without all the stuff i didn't want
I'm waiting for the champ to come to the U.S. I want one.
Great looking truck inside and out. Just wait a year and let teething issues get resolved and prices come down 🤣
I have a 2018 Tacoma SR5 with some upgrades but not a lot. I paid brand new less than $33,000. I will never ever ever pay that kind of price for an SR5 let alone a Trd pro.
Thank the Lord. I bought a 2023 SR 2.7 4x4 . NO TURBO. Was reasonably priced as well.
Thanks for a great educational video on the cost of the new Tacoma SR5. I agree, a great truck but $56,000 for a basic truck (any brand) is Crazy pricing. Citizens unite and do not pay that crazy high price for your truck. Carry On Sir!
Well lots of that was standard on the previous generation of Tacoma. Maybe not on the sr5, like proximity keyfob, just pull the handle to open, and touch the lines to lock on the handle. I also got my 2023 TRD off road for sub $40k . That is just insane what they want for those.
You can get a full size truck for that price
