    Correction: Ineos deliberately doesn't call it a snorkel as it doesn't provide ANY additional water wading benefits. It's a raised air intake which is supposed to help take in cleaner air being up high above dust. The wading depth is exactly the same whether you get the raised air intake or not.

    • @jerrymyahzcat
      @jerrymyahzcat 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Except RAIs Don’t get any cleaner air - it’s a myth. Dust goes up at least 4m so it’s no cleaner at RAI level at all.

    Roman, dude. You don’t turn your wheel to lock the diffs. You also have to be rolling to get any mechanical device to match the gears up and lock. User error 100% with the locking of the diffs.
    Unlocking doesn’t matter so much, but the sensors and computer were the reason the unlocking was “delayed.” You were probably unlocked immediately but the sensors needed to register that rotational speed change.
    Slow down a bit and think about it before you say “it’s disconcerting.”

    Congratulations on all the content you guys supply which brightens UK dull winter days considerably. I enjoy the landscapes too. Totally get the point of comparisons and some of your observations but the Grenadier was not designed to be the ultimate 4WD but designed for endurance and reliability ( please keep it for a long time ! ) and is a work truck for commercial operators primarily in whatever area they operate. It needs a 4WD capability but is not designed to be the ultimate off roader. Maintenance, reliability of all drive line components and back up is where you guys can really help. Try and break it in normal hard work!! The mechanical lockers( like the centre diff in previous Defenders) will hang on until they detect all grip is restored. They are again designed to operate in that manner so that torque wind up does no damage on a sudden disengagement. They may not operate in a manner that is as good as some competitors but what is the durability? Si.

They touted its solid front axle through the entire video but then when it went up the razor rocks the front tire was floating in the air and it seemed like it maybe had 8" of wheel travel. Solid front and rear axles. Mechanical 2-speed transfer case. 3 locking differentials. Permanent 4 wheel drive. I took my Grenadier over much more challenging obstacles than demonstrated in this video. It handled everything. These guys didn’t even air down. I’m not saying those other vehicles aren’t capable - they are. I just think they’re all compromised in different areas. Everything is a tradeoff and the Grenadier is the perfect balance - for me - it’s the perfect over-landing vehicle and you can order it with a winch from the factory. To each his own, for sure. Land Rover sh*t the bed with their new Defender (rated the least reliable vehicle on the planet). The previous Defender was a legendary off-road machine. So much so, the CEO of Ineos went to Jaguar/Land Rover and offered to buy the tooling to continue making it. They refused. So, being a multi-billionaire, he made one of his own...the Grenadier, named after the pub where he thought of it. It's what the new Land Rover Defender SHOULD have been. The only thing wrong with the Grenadier is the glaring lack of a manual transmission.

    Watching the diff locking sequence was painful. These guys are clueless or don't bother to read. Usually (especially with new cars) you need to crawl a bit forward and turn the steering wheel a bit to align the gears in the lockers and then they click in. And you have to make sure they are engaged one by one. It's not that hard. In the first few drives this is a bit finicky but after a few uses this will get easier as the gears adjust. It seems modern cars where you just press a button and they do everything for you have spoiled drivers.

    Base Rubicon Wrangler may be cheaper but a fully kitted out Rubicon (non-392) will also have triple locked diffs, plus a disconnecting sway bar, leather seats, heated seats, remote start, blind spot sensors, steel bumpers, a winch, etc, etc, and be about the same price point. You get way more bang for your buck, and can be ordered in any city in America and will maybe take two months to come in. With this one, you're paying for _exclusivity._ It's a cool ride, but I'd much rather have all the extras for the same price point. Or a basic ride for $15-20k less.

      Yeah, price is the biggest issue with the Grenadier. Well that and lack of support and parts which is kinda crucial for an offroader. When people say, “yeah it’s 80K but Wranglers are getting up there now,” it’s not an apple to apples comparo. The Jeep at that price will have every bell and whistle. Hell I’ve seen some 392s mid-80s. The winch is a perfect example of the Grenadier’s problem- because of the design of the bumper there is only one winch that fits, and you have to buy it from Grenadier from the factory. And it’s a $5,000 option. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️ and the base Grenadier has no locking diffs at all- for $70K! To get a properly offroad built one is mid 80s. They screwed the pooch with the pricing. I’ll keep my built Gladiator thanks.

    • @backwoodstherapy
      @backwoodstherapy 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dadventuretv2538 yeah the base Grenadier is certainly comparable to the Sport S by way of features without nearly as much aftermarket support. And if you spec a Sport S with a hard top, tow package and auto transmission, you're looking at about $48k. About $25k less than the Grenadier, with way more aftermarket support. To each his own, tho. I would never bash somebody for buying one, do what makes you happy (just don't squat it), but again, you're paying for exclusivity. Whether that's worth $20k-$30k more is up to you.

Reading what it said to do and it still didn't work effectively. Eventually does not cut it. And from previous videos of how this thing operates on road(steering)I can tell I am not missing anything there. I would say an LRD would be preferable. Even with air bags and potential repairs and high maintenance. At least you know that thing is doing what you tell it to do. AND it has a much friendlier on road presence.(steering) And I totally agree with you about the Bronco being a better choice for that kind of terrain. The IG is cool by design. Semi practical by space. Sort of capable when things are working as advertised. As a tractor rig, it is ok. But at 80K, you are spending a lot for something that less expensive rigs can do better.
