I left a comment on klienfeld's episodes about how they could do to expand the sizes in their stock especially considering that bridal sizes run up to six sizes smaller and most women average a size 12 to 16. The responses in the comments were so extremely horrible. People really think that because a bride is a larger size that she doesn't deserve to be happy or beautiful on her wedding day. I just can't say enough to thank Jo and Al for opening up the eyes of so many people to the struggle that so many people go through. They truly are angels and I'm so grateful that there are stores like theirs and I hope that say yes to the dress finds more stores like theirs to tell real stories about real brides beyond size four.

It's kinda like all ableism people really don't understand how easily changes in body shape, capacity, and ability happen to people regardless of who they are. They really think it could never be them. I sincerely hope folks learn to be kinder especially when/if it suddenly affects their/children/family friends. Hopefully sooner.
1 most episodes they show on here are super old, so even if someone of their staff did see it, it wouldn't really matter
2 I have a feeling they simply just do not care. They have plenty of "skinny" brides that they don't need the sales of bigger brides.
You'd think with the amount of women they have had and shown that had issues fitting into their stupid dresses, that they would expand their sizes (and maybe they have, like I said those episodes they show us are VERY old. But I doubt it) because they should want everyone to feel comfortable and leave with a dress they love. Not feel embarrassed, can't fit into anything, and either settling or leaving without anything.
These brides walked in lacking confidence and then after they saw the dresses, actually saw what we saw, stunning, beautiful woman! Very beautiful ladies!

I have to say, I never plan on getting married again; but plans change. As a plus size woman, I'm not going to bother going to kleinfeld's or any of the other bridal store here in the US. I'll spend the money on a plane ticket to England so that I can go and see Jo and Al. I know that there I'll be treated with honest warmth & compassion. These two women care about their clients they understand the trauma that dress shopping especially for Formal Wear that women who aren't a size 2 go through. That right there is worth it for me.

Trying on wedding dresses that actually fit you obviously makes the experience so enjoyable as opposed to going into a regular bridal shop and having them use 20 different clips to keep the dress up because you're five sizes too big for it. That's humiliating. I wish there were more of these stores around the world

It would be so cool to have these ladies pick my dress. My wedding dress went straight into the trashcan the very next day. It was all bad, I want to redo it someday with better circumstances.

actually the one aspect that is often reoccurring IS that these potential.couples have been together for far .a longer time than many average the sized. women which says either : what do you mean , unconfirmed, or , are you holding on to your fiance because you.belueve he us the best OR the best YOU can .Having been tall , .lean , but not over confident I had had close male friendships since childhood & even a previous engagement SO in spite of the insecurities mast of us experience knew why I married the man I did & deeply believe UNLESS the above questions can be answered no one is ready for being able to live, support & care for every aspect marriage demands It is a roller coaster adventure into the unpredictable . At least mine was & remained so.for 45 years .,

They are besties for such a long time. Both of them have husbands and lovely children and been married for quite sometime now, respectively. Jo started the shop because she had a terrible experience shopping for her dress and she doesn't want that for other plus size brides. She then brought along her bestfriend Alison and together they run the bridal shop exclusively for curvy girls.

I think that them attending the wedding is an extra cost if they can make it but I know that I, for one, would be perfectly fine with that, in the knowledge that I would be fine on the big day.

In 1977 i went into a brides dress shop in manchester with my husband too be bought the first dress i tried on still love the dress now . Though i didnt have the problems these lovely ladies have good luck too all of them

Well, Jo and Al know their inventory, how it looks on different body types, and they know what they’re doing in general.
When I worked at a bridal salon, I had a knack for picking out the right dress for the brides. I can look at someone and “see” a dress on them, whether bridal, or special occasion. My best friend, a guy, always insists on bringing me along when he needs business attire. He trusts my judgement and taste. Mind you, I can’t dress myself worth beans. But others? I’ve had good luck so far.
I hope she takes what she saw in the mirror and applies it to a new wardrobe. She’s a very pretty woman with great curves…I understand her crying. Several decades ago I was going through photos and pulled out a picture of a stranger. (At 5’8” and 120 lbs, I was extremely thin then but had been told a big butt by my family who teased me for it. My mother was particularly cruel.) I looked at the photo and thought..”who is that pretty girl?” It was me. I was so shocked, then angry and sad and then determined to change how I saw myself. I’m 80lbs overweight partly because I am severely disabled and cannot exercise and partly because after that experience, I don’t feel ugly at this weight. I’m 71, am told by people I barely that I look 50 and still have a great set of curves. I will never go back to the mindset of that abused child and adult!

This "tom-boy" bride is a "STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS" woman! I just want 2 hug her & say "look at yourself ur so beautiful"! Her face is "SIMPLY PERFECTION"! I wish I could be like some "confidence booster" no a professional "confidence booster" in a Curvey Bridal Boutique... Cuz I'd like 2 kick their insecurities out so that they can see what we all see which is "PURE PERFECTION, BEAUTY & A SPARKLE OF WOW THERE ARE NO WORDS" especially for someone who feels like they have 2 hide behind a false "tom-boy" label just 2 feel like their a person worthy of existing.

I love JO and Al; they make the future Bride feel wonderful. Both of them have that magic touch to find the proper wedding dress. The last same sexe couple looks absolutely amazing together so happy for them after so many years they are finally united for life, they were before but getting married is very special, so are they.
