I got married at 25 and divorced by 32. It was an extremely abusive and loveless marriage. I was constantly fat shamed to the point that I have no self confidence. Since then, I am scared of getting close to anyone for fear of getting hurt again and being judged (I am an Indian). But this episode made me have faith that I too deserve and will have a happy ending.
Of course you deserve happiness sweetheart. But it takes time to heal, especially after a loveless, abusive marriage. Have you ever spoken to anyone Simran? I’m not sure where you live, but here in the UK they have self referral counselling services attached to local GP surgeries, a friend of mine is 11 months out of a relationship similar to yours & is improving every day with counselling for her PTSD / confidence issues. Be kind to yourself ❤️ Xx
I was married at 21 and divorced at 23 (he cheated and was not the most loving husband). I married again at 26 and divorced at 44 (he was verbally, emotionally and financially abusive and withheld affection). When I was 45, and two weeks into quarantine, I met a fellow 45-year-old divorcee. I was terrified to tell him I’d been married twice, but he loves and accepts me for who I am. We’re coming up on 2 years together, navigating two challenging careers, raising a total of 5 kids between the two of us, and all that comes with all that. I’d love to marry this man, but I’m not ready. My last marriage made me question whether I *truly* deserve happiness and lack of judgment. This clip made me emotional… I also have a friend who had weight loss surgery at the beginning of 2020, for the same reasons as here.
Simran - You sound like a kind lady. This may sound odd but it might be worth considering: please be as kind to yourself as you are to others. Abusive people are all about control - usually to compensate for their hidden insecurities. Degrading others is the only way they can feel good about themselves. You deserve happiness and joy. Marriage hasn't ever been on my agenda but a friend that was recently divorced wanted to socialize a bit. I suggested wine-tasting gatherings, art shows, book signings' at bookstores, yoga classes, etc. She joined a yoga class focused on people trying to lose weight. She ended-up making several guy and gal friends, she is actually married with 2 children. She said it was worth it all to have her husband and children.

I am currently shopping for a wedding dress as a size 4. I definitely don’t qualify as a ‘curvy bride’ but I would give anything to have Al and Jo help me find my wedding gown. They are so amazing and they really do make a difference in a lot of these women’s lives I think.
Amy has the perfect and sweetest Nan. She found the perfect dress, and it sounds as if she found the perfect man. Best wishes for having the perfect wedding. Best wishes go out to Al for her surgery.
You ladies are so wonderful! I had weight loss surgery 12 years ago. I went from 300lbs. down to 145lbs. I also went from a size 24 down to a size 6/8. And yes it’s just what you said “it’s a tool!” And a lot of people don’t realize just exactly how much work goes into it. Good Luck Beautiful Lady!! Post your updates for all of your fans to see😊
Nothing stopping anyone from just eating less. Don't you think permanently mutilating your digestive system is a bad choice compared to, you know, dieting? A risky, expensive waste of medical resources just because you're too lazy to count calories.
@@jimisparx6953 “just dieting” and exercise doesn’t work for everyone. Doesn’t work for me and I’ve tried every diet out there. My daughter was warned about it. She actually felt more body confident at 300+ pounds than she does now because of loose skin. Rooting for you 100% for the weight loss surgery, Al! I had to lose a lot of weight too, this past year or so, for health reasons rather than aesthetic ones, and I can tell you that yes, it IS hard, but it is SO worth it when those health problems lessen and finally go. (And it won't mean you can never eat cake again, either - not as much of it, and not as often as before, maybe, but it can still be an occasional treat. 😊)
It's a difficult road, but well worth the sacrifices for a happy and healthy future. Congratulations on your weight loss. I hope that things are going well for you and that you're feeling the benefits health-wise from all of your hard word and effort 💖
I couldn’t stop crying throughout this episode. Everyone deserves happiness, support and health. I hope all these beautiful ladies get the best out of their lives and their children’s lives!
If you search 'Jo and Al the big clean' on TH-cam you'll see their new programme and you'll see how Al is doing now! She's had the weight loss surgery and she seems to be doing well 🙂
Al, you have helped countless women on their journey to become happier and more accepting of their true value, now your decision makes us all happy for you as you deserve to live the healthiest happiest life you can, for yourself, your children, and for your many fans worldwide. We support you all the way.🌷
I love Al & Jo! Keeping everything honest & respectful with the bride. They're the bride's therapist, cheerleader, support team etc. Many blessings to Al & Jo 💛💛💛
I just loooooove a show helping people build their confidence FOR ONCE instead of exploiting their lack of self confidence for views. So emotional, so nice to see 💜
I’m so happy for you, Al, you are such a bright light, so full of love for others, such an absolute expert at giving your love, your calm, your compassion, your support. You always respond to the needs of others with such grace and empathy, it’s your turn to feel our love and support, you will have it in heaps!
Al, I wish you much success on your weight loss journey, you've done so much for brides that boosts them into grabbing that happiness for themselves, and you also deserve that as well for yourself so you can enjoy many more years of happiness with your children and grandchildren.
Good on you, Al! You’re such an amazing person. The world is a better place because of you and Jo, and we’re blessed you’ll be around for a long time to come, because you’ll have this surgery.
Oh Al your beautiful and kind, you are so understanding and thoughtful. I hope everything goes well. The bride looked lovely. You and jo manage to make every brides visit special. ❤
Al, you can do anything. You have the heart, the will and the support of everyone who loves you. And girl, we who love you are legion! You are a light to all of us who share your struggle. You CAN do this!
Awe Al. This brought tears to my eyes. You help so many brides through very challenging times and help them find their confidence and beauty. I hope you know how many people are sending you our love and support. We all wish you the very best through your journey. ❤️
Al - I know I am not alone when I say there is an entire community of strangers here in this channel and elsewhere who love and support you and NEED you to be healthy.
You deserve happiness , don't sell yourself short. You have everything going for you. Stand tall Aimee, and believe that you are deserving of much happiness 😊
That last part of the video when Al talked about surgery... so touching! I was about to start crying. Al and Jo are such amazing people, they deserve all the best in life! I really hope Al makes the right decision for herself and her loved ones
Al, I think you are such a lovely, kind and supportive person. I hope others are as good to you as you seem to be to others. Weight loss surgery is a very difficult choice. I have been on the weight loss roller coaster all of my adult life. I made the decision to have a sleeve gastrectomy as opposed to the gastric bypass surgery. As you said, it is only a tool. I lost a significant amount of weight fairly quickly. Over the course of 3 very stressful years I gained it back and then some. I had the surgery but never really changed my lifestyle nor did I address why I was eating the way I was. Fast forward 10 years, I have finally changed my lifestyle and lost all of the excess weight. It took me almost 2 years but it has been a wonderful journey. It won’t be an easy journey for you but the surgery is a great step. I know you will be successful and happy with your accomplishments. Prior to loosing weight I was pre diabetic, had many issues with back and knee pain, my cholesterol was “dangerously” high. Currently, I no longer need medicine for the diabetes. My back and knee pain has decreased substantially. My cholesterol (although still high) has improved greatly. We don’t know each other on a personal level but I feel connected to you and Jo. Your stories ring true! If I can offer any words of advice it would be to just take one day at a time. You are strong and beautiful! YOU’VE GOT THIS!! Sending you a virtual hug 🤗
I've missed your posts ladies. I found your channel about 18 months ago & binge watched them so have had nothing to watch for the last months. I'm an average lady but love watching the joy you bring to your brides your channel so inspiring thank you.
Congratulations on a gorgeous dress for a gorgeous bride! I had gastric sleeve in 2013 and I do not regret having it done but it is a lifestyle that you need to follow the rest of your life. It is definitely not for everyone but for those that commit to it I applaud you! God bless!
I am so happy for Al and her decision; we can all tell her she looks amazing! But, I’m still convinced she and Jo can do Curvy Brides despite the weight loss. Who better than Al and Jo to know the journey of plus size brides.
My first time I got married, it was at a courthouse, so I really didn't care if I had a bug wedding with a dress, etc, but it was my second husband's first marriage and he really wanted the wedding, dress, reception, etc. So we did! That was 27 years ago and we're still going strong!! I married my best friend, we were friends before we dated, and we're different but we work well together!
Hey, Joanna, isn’t it just wonderful to have a best friend who is the first thing you see when you wake up and the last thing you see when you go to sleep? We had a very low key wedding, just us and his parents, as mine have both passed, but luckily as best friends it was what we both wanted. I always try to tell younger women, who are disillusioned with love, to look to their friends. After one evening where he nearly made me barf from laughing so much, I thought "Exactly what else could I possibly want?" That was 7yrs ago…so I’m down 20th on you…go you!!!…but giddy happy still!! It can also be a mistake to look for someone who is the same as you, differences can be a gift if done harmoniously: I’m feisty, he’s calm; he’s a procrastinator, I’m organised…yay. You can’t truly be friends with someone without finding them attractive on some level, to look beyond "Friendsville" can be ideal, as there is truly treasure there. Wishing you all the very best for the future❤️🏴❤️ (And the very very best of luck to Al with her journey❤️)
196 pounds lost!? That's incredible! I only hope I can lose half that much after I have my sleeve surgery. You're amazing Amy! Glad you've been doing so well Al!
Thank you Al for explaining your decision a bit. You’ve shown that you can choose this surgery even if you already love yourself as you are, even if you’re genuinely comfortable and confident in your size. Thank you for acknowledging that there could be real health risks and it doesn’t mean anyone is shaming you about it. It means you’re being honest about what’s best for you and your family. We support you! Thank you for sharing.
I At the end of the episode I was touched and impressed with Al sharing her personal feelings about weight loss surgery and the struggle. I admire her courage to say it out loud to the public . She instills confidence in her brides so I hope she has people who will be there to help and support her❣️
Glad for you Al that you are comfortable moving forward with your decision. I wish you all the best on this journey. Enjoy so much the support you show the brides you work with. Sending love.
I love the mum's response to everyone's got their opinion, "oh yus haven't they just.." Those are words of both wisdom and experience. She rolled her eyes so hard lol. I loved it. Sometimes opinions are best kept to oneself and no one else's concern. She seems brilliant.
Oh my. That last bit from Al gave me chills. I’m so glad she decided to get healthy for her & her kids. Not just her kids, but the world needs her around for an extremely long time! These brides need her special brand of support & insight along with Jo! They’re an amazing pair. And just looked up Al to see how she’s doing & OMD she looks incredible 😱
We are with you sweet lady!! Take care yourself and I will be praying for your success. Let me tell you...not missing those moments are worth it and grandbabies....girl they are the bomb!!! Lots of love and hugs! 💜💜
What a beautiful bride…so happy for her. Al, you are spot on, weight loss should not be about looks, it should be about getting healthy. We all need to be honest about this, obesity leads to many health issues. Wishing you Al, and the bride, all the best.
I cried along with this beautiful bride, because I have walked her shoes when it comes to being married several times. I don't understand why a man that has been married several times is looked at differently than a woman who has been married several times as well. She is happy, beautiful and definitely deserves that happily ever after❤️. God bless her union🙏💖.........Weight loss is about health reasons, but also about how you look at food (a crutch when depressed, anxious, etc). It's the battles inside ourselves that people don't see when they look at a person that is overweight, that's why making the decision to have weight loss surgery is so important to the individual. Good bless you and may you have a speedy recovery ❣️
Congratulations on taking this step, AL. I pray all goes well for you and you achieve the health you're looking for. You have support from around the world, please don't forget that.
I started watching say yes to the dress videos as I am searching for a wedding dress myself. I had seen clips of the Atlanta series here and there but never regularly watched. Now that I’ve started watching it on TH-cam ‘curvy bride’ is my favorite. I’m a size 4, definitely not a curvy bride but all I want is for Al and Jo to help me find a wedding dress! 💖
Good for you, Al! 💕 💕 💕 How beautiful, that one of the women who came to your shop helped put your mind at ease, when you have done just that for countless others over the years! I wish you all the best, and congratulations on your decision to pick up that tool out of the toolbox!
Oh, Al! You made me cry. I pray that everything will go well and you reach your goal of being HEALTHY, because you are already a beautiful, loving, caring woman. And YES, you need to stay around for a long, long, time! Good health to you, Al. We will be right here rooting for you. God bless you! And to this bride, all the best as well. May you continue to enjoy this happiness. You make the dress absolutely beautiful!
Al, you are breaking my heart. All of these women you and Jo have helped...you deserve to be healthy and I am praying for you, because you are someone who always gives and never expects for yourself...kindness itself. God bless you and keep you on this journey. You ARE doing the right thing.
Al and Jo are amazing, they are so caring about their brides. They really seem to want them to look and feel beautiful on their wedding day. Most of these shows are interesting for the drama, and the obscene cost of the dresses. But these two ladies make me want to meet and spend time with them, cause they seem such beautiful, loving people. And good luck Al with your journey to better health. Grandchildren are deffinetly worth being around for. From a grandma of 14.
This is by far the most wonderful boutique on SYttD, and it's so so lovely to see that it isn't just about helping the bride, and that these lovely ladies sometimes get back all the good that they put out in the world. Everyone here is so wonderful.
I am so proud of you Al, there is not a word in this world that can even come close too describing it. Sending you massive hug, lots of love and I will always keep a little cake for you😉😉. Lots love and support from 🇨🇦
Dear Al, No new words to offer here, but like everyone else I’m happy for you. From time to time in previous shows you’ve talked with brides about the surgery and you generously shared yourself then as you did here. I’m not on any social media but some folks here have shared seeing you on Instagram and say you look so amazing. That doesn’t surprise me one bit! You are a woman of courage as well as kindness and empathy and wisdom. Good on you‼️‼️‼️
I want to wish Al the best of luck! You’re beautiful and strong and you do so much for others! You deserve to do this for yourself and your family! We love you
Al you are such a beautiful lady. Your kindness with the brides is so genuine and subtle. Your fans can feel the love. Please get healthy in the best way for you. All of us will support you in your decision and journey. Praying for you! P.S. I love you both.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for acknowledging that weight loss surgery is not the easy way out. I had my gastric bypass in July '05 and never looked back nor regretted my decision.
What a sweet nan, what a beautiful soul, she reminds me my late mum.. It brought tears to my eyes... Just the support of a few people in someone's life, can make the difference between being happy or not happy...
Amy was radiant! As for Al, it's a difficult decision, but she's doing it for all the right reasons. If she were doing it for vanity, I'd balk, but she's doing it for health and longevity and doesn't have unreal expectations.
The choice to have WLS is a really tough one. It took me YEARS to finally decide to go through with it. For me it was when my niece was born in February 2019 and it suddenly hit me that if I didn't do something, if I didn't lose the weight, then I wouldn't get to see her grow up due to my declining health. I cried because the idea of not seeing my niece grow up broke my heart as it had been the greatest joy of my life watching her big sister grow up (she's almost 10 years older than her younger sister). I was 392 pounds at my heaviest (389 pounds when I made the decision to have WLS). I'm two years post-op and currently weigh 179 pounds (I was 175 at my lightest, but you tend to gain a few pounds after you hit maintenance. I've been the same basic weight since September 2021. My weight bounces from 178-183 and I just lose and gain the same few pounds). I went from a size 34 women's jeans (in US size) to a size 12 (in US size). A 6xL top (US sizing) to a medium (again, US sizing). My feet even shrank! I went from a US 10W to a size 9. My ring size also went from a 10 down to a 5. WLS isn't an easy choice to make, and it really is just a tool because you have to work with it for it to work for you. It's a complete life change and the only thing I regret about it... is not doing it for myself sooner. I wish Al the best on her own weight loss journey in improving her health!
Al, your motives for having the surgery are the best ones. You do so much for your clients. Imagine that this surgery is your gift to your family and the future that you'll share with them. When women come to the shop to buy their dresses, you are so understanding and helpful-- you do so much for their confidence and their worries. I hope that you have that type of support before, during, and after your surgery!💜
Lovely bride, lovely dress, and lovely Al…you have so many people in your corner! And anyone who says weight loss surgery is the easy way out hasn’t done any research on it. It is a different kind of hard, but it is just as hard as losing weight through diet and exercise.
Hi to both Al and Jo thank you both so much for all that you do and say to your brides. You know exactly where they’re coming from and how they are feeling, you make them feel so special and you make them feel so good about themselves even when some of their group are still being so nasty it’s a pity there are not more people like you in this crazy world but your brides know that they are safe and sound with both of you. Good luck Al and take care hope to see you back in the boutique soon
I am so happy Jo is getting the surgery. She deserves every happiness. This beautiful bride also deserves her wedding day. We all deserve to be loved and to be happy.
Absolutely stunning and beautiful bride, and the dress is perfect. I've been married several times and I'm ALWAYS put down for it even though I was a victim with complex PTSD's from it all. I've been divorced for 15 years, very lonely but happy with myself. I pray for the right man for me and me the right woman for him but so far no one's come into my life. Amy, you're so gorgeous and you very much deserve the wedding with your most amazing man. Never look back, hun. You go girl! Hugz, Tree
Al you are always so kind and caring to everyone you meet. Thank you. What ever your decision I am sure you can still have a little cake. You deserve it.
You've been there for all these brides. Now, it's time for us to be there for YOU! You deserve the best life has to offer. Let us remind you of that as many times as you need. 💕
Seeing these videos always make me feel so happy and pleasant, but it’s almost even more pleasant reading through all of these heart warming comments. What a breath of fresh air! 💕
I’ve had the same weight loss surgery and through all the ups and downs it brings with it and other people’s opinions I found that in the end it’s not what it takes away that matters it’s what it gives you back. Hope is a powerful drug hun and allows to to believe that you really are worth the hard work. Good luck with your journey and thanks for your kindness and gift of happiness to all that you help. Xxx
I had weight loss surgery 13 years ago. I lost 160lbs bringing me to 130lbs and managed to keep it off. Weight loss surgery is definitely not the easy way. It still took eating healthy and eating smaller portions. I know so many people who have had it and gained all their weight back, plus more. Its not easy and I didn't want to go through all that just to gain it all back. I don't deprive myself, so if I'm at a birthday party or a special event, I'll have a bite or two of cake and it satisfies me. Mostly I try to eat foods in their most simplest form and stay away from processed foods. It gets easier as time goes by to eat right. I wish you luck on your journey. Just remember, its not easy and not a cure-all, its a tool and if used properly, it works! All the best to u!
This is a beautiful true story. I’m so happy for this woman who is a stranger to me, but she looks beautiful, happy & deserving of the dress & her new journey. Shout out to say yes & AI who facilitated this fab story. Thanks so much!!

It's a difficult road, but well worth the sacrifices for a happy and healthy future. Congratulations on your weight loss. I hope that things are going well for you and that you're feeling the benefits health-wise from all of your hard word and effort 💖
She had it , go look on her instagram
I couldn’t stop crying throughout this episode. Everyone deserves happiness, support and health. I hope all these beautiful ladies get the best out of their lives and their children’s lives!
Al, good luck with it all, and when Jo Pulled out THE dress like a magic fairy godmother, more proof you two are the best!
Al wishing you a speedy recovery after your soon to be surgery. You are gorgeous inside and out 🥰 wishing the bride a happily ever after
If you search 'Jo and Al the big clean' on TH-cam you'll see their new programme and you'll see how Al is doing now!
We support you all the way.🌷
I've become a little addicted to this show. I love the accents and Al and Jo are the sweetest.
Well said!!!! All of that Al!!! Much respect.

Al, I wish you much success on your weight loss journey, you've done so much for brides that boosts them into grabbing that happiness for themselves, and you also deserve that as well for yourself so you can enjoy many more years of happiness with your children and grandchildren.
We're all rooting for you Al!! So much love and support coming at you always, and especially during your health and healing journey!
This is my absolute favorite episode of this show. The support they have for each other is incredible. The world needs kinder people like this.
God bless!
I just love these two ladies. They are so understanding and kind with a great sense of humour. Thanks for sharing your process Al .❤
I am so happy for Al and her decision; we can all tell her she looks amazing! But, I’m still convinced she and Jo can do Curvy Brides despite the weight loss. Who better than Al and Jo to know the journey of plus size brides.
awe that's beautiful and Al Im proud of you for taking the steps you need for your health
Wishing you all the very best for the future❤️🏴❤️
(And the very very best of luck to Al with her journey❤️)
Im so happy for Al. 💗 and wish her nothing but a happy HEALTHY life with her family.
196 pounds lost!? That's incredible! I only hope I can lose half that much after I have my sleeve surgery. You're amazing Amy! Glad you've been doing so well Al!
Al, your vulnerability in sharing this had me in tears. One day I may be following your footsteps.
You ladies are amazing. The love and respect you show to all your brides is beautiful. Thank you so much for all you do!
I just love Jo and Al. They are so respectful to everyone.
She instills confidence in her brides so I hope she has people who will be there to help and support her❣️
Sending all the LOVE to Al! Praying for a Safe and Successful surgery. Much Love to you and your family!!
Glad for you Al that you are comfortable moving forward with your decision. I wish you all the best on this journey. Enjoy so much the support you show the brides you work with. Sending love.
I love the mum's response to everyone's got their opinion, "oh yus haven't they just.."
Those are words of both wisdom and experience.
So good to know you've made your decision for your health, your family and your future! You have the love and support from a large community. ❤️
Such a beautiful episode. I love how sensitive these ladies are with their clients they make each and every one feel special. Absolutely beautiful 💕😇
Her Nan is just so sweet! I adore both of these lovely ladies!
I love these women! Such fiercely compassionate queens! Praying for your good health Al.
What a beautiful dress! I love the supportiveness from Jo and Al to each of their brides that walk into the boutique.
You've got this! We can't wait to go on this journey with you! Please keep us updated 🙏 ❤️
That’s a beautiful bride! This dress looks so beautiful on her! May she have her happy ever after💕
Congratulations on taking this step, AL.
Al you're making the right decision. I wish you the best and many blessings.
The bride looks lovely. Best wishes.
Love the bride's Nan, Queen.
So proud of you for sharing your story with us. We love you! Praying for you as you walk this journey. Hugs!!!
You ladies are so special, I’m so glad I started watching your channel.
This is by far the most wonderful boutique on SYttD, and it's so so lovely to see that it isn't just about helping the bride, and that these lovely ladies sometimes get back all the good that they put out in the world. Everyone here is so wonderful.
She looks absolutely stunning, that gown literally looked as if it were made for her.
These ladies are absolutely amazing.
I am so proud of you Al, there is not a word in this world that can even come close too describing it. Sending you massive hug, lots of love and I will always keep a little cake for you😉😉. Lots love and support from 🇨🇦
So happy for Al!!! I can't wait to watch her on this journey
Dear Al,
No new words to offer here, but like everyone else I’m happy for you.
I love the bride but also that nan is adorable ❤
What a wonderful and supportive grandmother. She's a gem. The dress is lovely on this sweet bride.
You are a brave, strong, powerful woman Al. You will surpass any expectations. 🌻
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for acknowledging that weight loss surgery is not the easy way out. I had my gastric bypass in July '05 and never looked back nor regretted my decision.
Next to the word "empathy" in the dictionary should be a picture of Al. She is such a good listener and a comfort to the brides to be.
You articulated the reason why surgery was important for your life so well, that it will help many other beautiful ladies 🤗😘
I swear, I can’t not cry in every episode. So beautiful.
Two absolutely gorgeous, loving, caring giving ladies..........Every client is blessed to see them.......Helping others always........Love them both
I love these ladies they are so open and caring for everyone that comes there prayers for them both
That's the cutest Nan ever! She is so supportive and understanding but she is also seems very intelligent
