It was that simple detail that always baffled me. Starlet post-work 359 should have laughed at the Dominions threats because they would have prepared to defeat a far more dangerous enemy - The Borg - except they didn't.
What? Starfleet keeps combat ships near Earth? That doesn't sound right. How many times has there been a threat to Earth and inexplicably, the Enterprise seems to be the only ship that's available to handle the situation? 🤔
If each face of the cube has the same weapon emplacements and regenerative abilities, the cube should be rotating fresh faces to any coordinated attack. Turning a vertex at a collection would expose 3 faces worth of weapons, but we never see that.
💯 respect for the Modders that made it possible to play quite a few Star Trek factions and it also helps that the remastered version has the capacity to support it :)
I designed a huge dreadnought about as big as the Terran Styx Class that is literally built to solo this exact threat. I call it the Galleon Class and it is built with a singular purpose to repay the Borg for all the lives lost in their attacks.
They do have them but remember they are not a military organisation , they have the Odessy class yes but also the Excalibur class with borg tech in mind, as for just pure oving cities they have the Universe Class but this is mch later in the timeline.

Not quite actually. The game I’m using is Homeworld Remastered Version + a mod called, Star Trek: Chronicles 3280. Don’t get me wrong, I loved playing Star Trek: Armada 2 back in the day :)

The camera angles, the way the lasers jitter as they paint across targets, and leave burn tracks. Armada didn't do that, but the Homeworld engine does that natively. :)

I completely agree with you, we need more variety of Star Trek games. I know they launched Star Trek: Infinite last year but was disappointed when they decided to abandon the game back in March :/

You would think Earth with all that advanced tech would be covered with shields and have verteron arrays like they had on Mars colony in Enterprise episode Terra Prime that could insta kill any hostile ships that came in range.
I think it comes down to their desire to project soft power through peace and diplomacy over a visible militarization of Earth’s defenses. Don’t get me wrong, I’d still prefer seeing orbital defenses and being used against Borg/Xindi/Breen/Klingon, etc lol
It does seem insane that Earth not only being Starfleet HQ, having one of the largest shipyards in the Federation doesn't have formidable defenses it's not until Discovery do we see Earth properly protected

After the first several hostile encounters, Earth could have at least beefed up a few orbital defenses but I guess that wouldn’t work for the plot 👀

Size doesn't matter, armaments do. Don't forget, after turning Picard, they now have Starfleet vessels' shield harmonics.
