      Earth needs BOLO TECHNOLOGY.
the first Bolos were GM products....)
Controlled by their tireless electronic brains which were programmed to admit no possibility of defeat, the gigantic robot tanks known as Bolos were almost indestructible, and nearly unstoppable. Almost. Nearly. A sufficiently determined enemy armed with nearly limitless firepower and willing to sustain terrible losses could destroy a Bolo. But even a terminally damaged Bolo is still an opponent to reckon with. And as long as a Bolo's artificial intelligence retains a flicker of consciousness, its indomitable drive to defend the human race against all enemies will propel it forward. Bolos can be destroyed-but they never surrender

It was that simple detail that always baffled me. Starlet post-work 359 should have laughed at the Dominions threats because they would have prepared to defeat a far more dangerous enemy - The Borg - except they didn't.

If each face of the cube has the same weapon emplacements and regenerative abilities, the cube should be rotating fresh faces to any coordinated attack. Turning a vertex at a collection would expose 3 faces worth of weapons, but we never see that.

Earth does have a planetary defense network. That’s how the Breen took out Star Fleet HQ during the Dominion War, they took over a defense platform and oriented its powerful phasers towards San Fransico.
